Topic: [SOLVED] Intel SATA RAID not recognized

I finally slipstreamed an official unattend DVD using the new GUI DPBASE (as opposed to vmware). I'm streaming all DriverPacks (including textmode), M2, Custom and No KTD). I've compared txtsetup.sifs from both batch and gui dpbase' and iastor entries APPEAR fine. I don't even know where to begin to figure this one out. Please help out here ppl. sad

Re: [SOLVED] Intel SATA RAID not recognized

I am having the same problem...
Everything seems to be fine when I look at the logs, when I run xp setup, I even see the sata drivers getting loaded, then after that, it says setup cannot continue because no HDDs are detected.
I have 2 Maxtor DiamondMax 10 Sata1 drives setup as RAID 0 array on Abit IC7-G (revision 2) onboard Intel SATA RAID controller which is the 82801ER. I've tried both Method 1 and Method 2, both have no errors in logs, but same result when I try to setup XP.
I've threw away a lot of CDs trying to get this to work, and really can't afford to waste any more.. not your (Bâshrat the Sneaky's) fault, just that I've wasted about 20 CDs, and 30 DVDs this month trying a lot of things out.. >.<
If there is a fix for this, or if I'm doing anything wrong, which I'm almost certain I'm not, please shine some light into this issue.
I won't go into the proceedure of my ISO to diagnose if I made any n00b mistake. (Such as getting newest BASE, PACKS, folder name, etc)
But if there shouldn't be anything wrong with the massstorage or the chipset DriverPacks, then please do tell me so I can check my steps again.
By the way, your older DriverPacks worked flawlessly when I made my iso build last month or so.
Regardless of this small problem we're having, your DriverPacks are amazing. I can't even imagine all the time and effort you've put into this project and I'd like to thank you for the awesome program.

I know it sounds rather obvious but did you ever consider using a RW disk for these purposes?
I don't know of a single CD/DVD burner that does not support writing to RW media.

So far, I have only burnt maybe two CD-Rs with a UWXPCD, however I have created countless CD-RWs (on the same disk, btw!), which all work very fine.
I have yet to notice a difference to using an R medium instead of an RW (maybe read times are a little bit faster but not as much as to influence installation times noticeable).

...maybe i'm just a n00b or something... but I use MS Virtual PC to test my installs from an ISO BEFORE burning to a CD/DVD... maybe you should consider the same so save some $$, unless you really DO like those nifty coasters wink

Re: [SOLVED] Intel SATA RAID not recognized

Virtual PC does not have hardware support, hence driverpacks will show no effects.

Exactly.

Besides, since I'm using a edicated PC for testing, I can keep working on my primary machien when testing the disk and it doesn't drain any rescources as a VM would do.

I tell you, these RWs are really, really handy wink

Re: [SOLVED] Intel SATA RAID not recognized

I previously had this issue and fixed it by REMing out the JAHCI driver. I believe our intel sata issue can be solved in a likewise manner. Being since I currently don't have the time (or DVDs) to test, let me propose this:

REM out all drivers in the [SCSI.LOAD] section ONE BY ONE.

Insert a semicolon ; in front of each driver, test, remove semicolon and repeat on next line.

Example:

[SCSI.Load]
cpqarray = cpqarray.sys,4
;atapi = atapi.sys,4
aha154x = aha154x.sys,4
sparrow = sparrow.sys,4
symc810  = symc810.sys,4
aic78xx  = aic78xx.sys,4
i2omp = i2omp.sys,4
dac960nt = dac960nt.sys,4
ql10wnt = ql10wnt.sys,4
amsint = amsint.sys,4
asc = asc.sys,4

The reason I'm REMing out everything is to be sure the conflict is, in fact, happening in [SCSI.LOAD] section (as opposed to bus extender). I also want to be sure that aliide nor atiide (bus extender) have anything to do with this. If they do, then I can expect the same error even with all drivers REMed out (with the exception of the iastor driver). If this works, then I can go further and make sure the rest of the driverpacks (other than massstorage) work on my system.

If all goes well, then I'll crank out the uaDVDs and unREM 5 drivers at a time til I error out...that way I can narrow it down to the offender.

toodles

Re: [SOLVED] Intel SATA RAID not recognized

Well...REMing everything but iastor.sys was quite successful. Intel RAID was finally recognized. I'll go on ahead and do a full reinstall tomorrow. Hopefully there will be no issues with the full install. I'm much closer to identifying the conflict now. I just need to get more DVDs. smile

Re: [SOLVED] Intel SATA RAID not recognized

rc7 won't have this REMmed out issue anymore. I'm very glad Intel SATA RAID is confirmed to be working again smile
