Yes.
The packs made in 2012 have the new folder structure which makes the OS selection easy.  For them, there is only one Win7 folder.  Also delete the "Server" folder.

In older packs, you'll have to do some digging because they may be deeply nested.
Tools used for Vista integrations are not "smart enough".

BTW, it only takes about 8 PSI to pierce the skin and even less to pierce the eye.  Compressed air is no joke, be careful.

Yes, it's not needed by most installs.  I only made it because we have about 30 machines at work that do need it.

Welcome to DriverPacks! smile

Of course!  Thanks.  How the h*ll did I miss that?  I'll make the change right away.
Take all the code you want, we'll make more! (Jay Leno/Doritos rimshot!)
For the 7zip switches, some of those are hold-overs from the previous version.  We wanted to make this compatible down to XP level, so keeping them doesn't harm anything.

Sorry, I meant that both the links that Ra posted were included in the 12.03 release that I'm still working on.
wink
The final link will be posted here as always: http://driverpacks.net/driverpacks/windows/xp/x86/hid

Moved to the BartPE area...

Can you post more info?  OS used?  HWID list from target (problem) hardware?
DPs_BASE.log?  Any other relevant logs?

I've never used Sherpya, but maybe someone else has and can help you.

That's because I haven't put cleanup.cmd in yet.  I'm still testing it.
DriverPacks Finisher is only activated on an XP install (for now).

Clicking your link takes me to a 3rd-party download host with malware.  I'm not clicking anything from that site!
If they're nvidia drivers, then please provide a nvidia.com link or link to an OEM manufacturer site.

Did you see our forum post requesting nvidia testers?

Here's what I have in my working copy.  I'll try to finish testing this weekend.
Does anyone have any additional requests?
BTW, the reason I put the Alps\6 folder in the "Vista only" section is because the .inf states this:

; Alps Pointing-device Driver for Windows Vista Installation

Mar 2012  (12.03)
Changed folder layout to split drivers by OS. Optional: Delete the OS folder you're not using (ie. For Win7 installs, you can safely delete the "Vista" folder.)
All = Drivers that work with all NT6 OS
Vista = Drivers that are meant for Vista only.
Win7 = Drivers that are meant for Windows 7 only.

As a further example I looked at the Chipset WIN7/Intel/1 files and the ALL/Intel/1 files... all 116 files in the WIN7 folder are exact MD5 matches for the ALL folder... if thats the case why are they both needed?

Really?  To be honest I never checked.  If that's the case, then we can just get rid of the Win7 folder and keep the All folder instead.  That will shave about 100kb from the pack. wink

I knew the AMD folders had duplicates, I just didn't have time to weed them all out.
Maybe I should revisit that pack eh?

That's a good question.  I have no idea.

You already include these (or better), do you not mr_smartepants?  Wouldn't hAqX0ne simply need to make a DriverPacks-integrated Windows XP Install CD to allow the install of either RAID or AHCI mode to be able to use the 11.1.0.43 drivers?

Yes and Yes.
I didn't even bother to download from the link he provided.  That's why I asked for his DPs_BASE.log to make sure he actually used DriverPacks before requesting.

Please post the link to the drivers from the OEM (Acer).  We do not use drivers from 3rd parties in our main packs.
Also please post your DPs_BASE.log so we can be sure it's not already supported.

In my testing, having SAD2 delete the unwanted folders prior to executing dpinst does save time.  The delete function takes less than a second where the dpinst scan can take several minutes (depending on the speed of the target system).
Remember, DISM is used for offline-image driver integration, DPinst is for online-image driver integration.

compstuff wrote:

In working with only WIN7 images am I correct that I need both the ALL and the WIN7 folders

Yes.  The "All" folder contains drivers whose .inf supports multiple OS types.

compstuff wrote:

In the Chipset pack are the intel drivers in the WIN7 1 folder the same as those in the ALL  1 folder

I was never able to conclusively prove that the Intel chipset drivers in the "All" folder were needed for Win7 since they provide a "Win7" folder.  To be honest I just didn't have time to investigate.

That's probably because neither utility is reporting the drivers it actually integrates or because some of the drivers are duplicates.
Here's a good example of what I think is going on.
In dpms the manufacturer DawiControl has identical folders for 3 different OS (Vista, Win7 & Server) but each driver is slightly different for each OS.
DISM (which both utilities use) will count all the drivers and this is the first number, then it goes through and picks the drivers that match the OS it's integrating into and that's the second number.
So for DawiControl, we have 3 drivers but only 1 will integrate into Win7, multiply that to the nth degree across all the DriverPacks and you'll see the discrepancy you're reporting.
So while DISM may be counting 295 driver .inf files, only roughly 230 are compatible with Win7.  The others may only be compatible with Vista/Server and are skipped.

There are also differences in the Win7toolkit in how it "validates" driver files.  I don't use W7T but that's how Liam (W7T creator) describes the process.

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it! wink

Updated first post for v120317.

Just in case anyone is interested, I'm working on adding code to the SAD batch file to delete the folders not needed for certain OS types.  As an example, if you're running SAD2 on a Vista OS, then this is what would happen:
1) extract drivers to the system drive
2) delete the folders not needed (Server & Win7 folders) so all that remains is the \All & \Vista folders (or folders from older packs).
3) dpinst is executed.

This should speed things up since dpinst wouldn't have to scan irrelevant driver folders.  It would also be optional, just like the new KTD option.

Since I don't have server 2008 installed, I don't know what the registry keys are that identify it.  I'll have to install server 2k8 in a VM just to look at the registry.

*Edit
Got it.

FOR /F "tokens=2*" %%A IN ('REG QUERY "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion" /v InstallationType') DO SET installtype=%%B

Responses would be either "client" or "server".  Easy.
