After altering the driverpack to have the signed copy of nv4_disp.inf as suggested by mr_smartepants, the 93.71 driver in the nightly driverpack worked perfectly.  I downloaded an archived copy of 7.1.8.9 and tried the same thing, and Windows loaded the driver just fine during the install, but I still couldn't change resolutions, so I'm assuming that was just a flaw between this MX 440 and that particular driver, but I don't know.  If I can be of any more assistance please let me know.  Thanks for your time guys.

What functionality do you give up if the native driver is used?

I can't seem to get the s-video out on the card to work without the nvidia version of the driver...

I'll see what happens when I modify the infs as mr_smartpants suggests.

Alright I just got done performing the same exact install as before but this time using only the nightly that mr_smartpants posted, and the driver  also wouldn't load during the standard Windows install.  It just doesn't want to eat the unsigned driver when the one native to XP is signed.  With this driver I was able to update the driver to the unsigned driver in C:\Windows\DriverPacks\G\N3 folder and change resolutions without a problem though.  Is there anything else I can do to help you guys?

Haha, yeah this graphics card is a pile, but it's an older machine so I don't care.  Just to make sure nothing else was interfering this is just my plain XP Pro OEM disk, with nothing added besides DP_Graphics_B_wnt5_x86-32_810.7z  and the problem still occurs every time.  Just like I said in the first post, if I force the unsigned driver in the C:\Windows\DriverPacks\G\N3 folder it loads fine, but changing the resolution always causes an instant restart.   Here's whats in my DPs_BASE.log for this integration.  I'll test the nightly that mr_smartpants posted the same way I tested this one and let you know what happens.

I reloaded Windows on this machine that has a Geforce4 MX 440 card, and when I booted up the machine it had the standard
(Microsoft) driver loaded.  I use KTD so I updated the driver manually to the driver located at in C:\WINDOWS\DriverPacks\G\N3 The driver wasn't signed but I continued anyway, and when it rebooted I thought everything was fine because the tray icon loaded fine and when I checked device manager the driver version was updated to 7.1.8.9.  I tried changing the resolution and the machine just reset instantly.  I disabled automatic restart on system failure (then rebooted once) and tried again, but it still instantly reboots the machine.

I downloaded forceware 93.71 from nvidia.com
Driver version in device manager is 6.14.10.9371 and it works fine so I'm not really what the problem is.  Below are my hwids, and I hope someone could shed some light on the issue.

I'm sorry if I'm just bad at searching, but is there a reason we can't get to the 9371 driver instead of 7189?

Thanks for everything guys.

Thank you, It was a long day yesterday and I hadn't noticed that I was still using 3 nightly driverpacks that I was testing roll

Is the DPsFnshr suppose to move/remove the changelogs from the %systemdrive% because on my only two real installs I noticed that after the finisher ran that everything was moved properly but I was still left with changelog_<driverpack>.txt  for any driverpacks that had changelogs in them.  Thanks again to everyone for all their work.

The new base looks awesome, and I made one S.A.D. disk, and so far everything appears to have worked well during my install.  The one thing that I saw a little glitch with was when switching between the different install platforms.  You receive the warning that asks you whether or not you're sure you want to switch to another platform because your settings will be lost, but if you select No from the list, the new platform bullet is still selected instead of your original platform selection.  I'll let you guys know if I find anything else, but so far everything is looking great.  Nice work guys.

It will become possible in the near future.

I guess I dug up an old topic, but since service pack 3 came out, the RyanVM Integrator currently breaks winnt.exe/winnt32.exe setups which I use very frequently.  Thus I can't use the RyanVM Integrator to put dps_base into API mode and unattendedly install the driverspacks, are there still plans to allow the driverpacks base to be launched from a cmd file, or some other method?

Thanks for all your time.

Chud, what input driver does your mouse or touchpad use?  Because if it's not the Logitech SetPoint driver than the issue is much bigger than just missing files...Windows can't select which driver to load because of the overlapping hwids.

If you take the out the common hwids from these drivers won't Windows just load the generic PS/2 driver or whatever, which would defeat the whole purpose of having Touchpad drivers in the driverpack?

Well like I said, the driverpack doesn't load during the Windows install after I break driver signing so putting in my changes will just break the Input pack more... I'll keep playing with it and let you guys know if I figure anything out.  Thanks.

I made the 3rd party driverpack for my Synaptics TouchPad driver, and it works fine, but the default inf has an option that gets enable that is set to turn "Tips" on.  I'd like to change that value, and I have maually edited it, and if I just right-click the inf file and chose install it does set the registry correctly to having that item disabled.  The only problem is obvious when I edit the inf file I break the driver signing and then it won't load during the Windows install.  If I manually update the driver to my modified version I get the warning saying it may harm my computer or whatever, but it does work the way I want.  Is there an INI file or something that I could create to allow me to let the driver install, but then after make changes to the registry?  Thanks for your time everyone.

It also broke my laptops keyboard.  I plugged in a USB keyboard and mouse just so I could function, but I loaded the Synaptics driver off of Gateway's site, and then had to manually set the unknown device under keyboards to the Standard 101/102-Key or Microsoft Natural PS/2 Keyboard before that would function again.  When doing that I received a warning saying that the keyboard driver was also connected to the Mouse or something, but I continued anyways and then both were working.  I tried running the save_hwids.exe on my laptop and my desktop and it only showed the PCI Devices and the USB Devices.  So I went to device manger and found the following ids.

Keyboard

ACPI\PNP0303\4&1D6F7EAE&0 : Standard 101/102-Key or Microsoft Natural Keyboard

Touchpad
ACPI\PNP0F13\4&1D6F7EAE&0 : Synaptics PS/2 Pointing Device

Hope this helps in troubleshooting.

My Gateway laptop uses the Synaptics TouchPad Driver found at the link at the bottem of my post.  I saw this pack had a generic Synaptics driver so I figured I'd be ok, but for whatever reason it tries to install the Logitech SetPoint Driver from C:\d\3\in\l\s instead of the Synaptics driver.   I'll post my hwids when I get the correct driver loaded.  Thanks for your time guys and keep up the good work.

This SigmaTel driver is what comes with the Gateway machines that my employer has been purchasing for the past few months.  For whatever reason the SigmaTel drivers in the Sound B pack don't detect our sound devices.  Here's a link to the driver that I have to download after Windows is done loading.  http://support.gateway.com/support/driv … =169930974  Thanks for your time everyone, and keep up the good work.

Correct sir, there is a carriage return directly in front of the "PCI\VEN_103C..."  I stretched my notepad Window over 2 screens to see it...

The temporary fix listed on this other post also fixes this issue.

I original received this error with the latest dp_base and Masstorage driver in txtmode and received the error Line 13392 of the INF file \txtsetup.sif is invalid and setup cannot continue.  Is there a temporary fix that I can make to the txtsetup.sif file?  I tried just deleting that line, but the the error just switched to line 13391 instead.  Thanks for all your hard work guys.
