the fact that you are not familiar will make you a much better candidate for the FAQ's

i can't let you despair sir... but i am not certain where to go with this issue...

AutoImage is written by a good friend of the DriverPacks RogueSpear (collaborative) and as such is the best choice in my opinion.

ther most popular lineup here is

Ryan VM - windows updates hotfixes and service packs
nLite - automate install, remove un-needed stuff, tweak windows settings (IE add "my computer" shortcut to destop)
DriverPacks -   You are Here ---> X   wink
WPI - Windows Post Installer - for application installation after windows setup (IE acrobat reader, flash player, Office, ECT...)

coming from a Linux background you are already able to think "outside the box" so you should have very few problems getting your head around this task.

Please just ask if you need anything

PS autoImage will not only give you a single interface for teh above apps but will also add RIS support to/for them

Helmi (and most of the team) is much better at writing than i am.  Thanks Helmi.

I am a programmer/tech, not a politician/diplomat...
The diplomacy skill set is however "work in progress".
(is it too late to delete or re-word that last sentence? wink )

-----------

i would expect to find that each of those folders contains a driver for a different series of Canon printer... (IR, GP, LBP, FAX)
that may, or may not, be the case -
it is also possible that the driver you have is an upgrade/replacement for one of the existing folders - (a unified driver)

Have a great day and thanks for your continued support.

If you had tried using the word please... wink

why would somone want to have more than one driverpack version supported cdob?

I tried to duplicate this error and was not able to do so...

i first thought this may be a permissions issue with vista but helmi was useing XP...
then i thought it might be german source but englebert is obviously useing english US
the common denominator is not apparent to me ATM... still thinking about it though...

all three of us used QSC ON (Please try with qsc off, although this is unlikely to be the problem)
all three of us did not use a clean source (it looked like the $OEM$ folder existed in all three cases)

the mass storage INI is valid... no extra spaces or apparent typos. the smmpi file itself is valid.

I expected to find an extra space for the "TAG" entry in the mass storage INI... but no...

hmmmm...

use the hwid's tool in my signature -
the format should be pci\ven not acpi/wec it may be that is is a subcomponent of the main hardware and installing that driver will fix both devices.

I assume Wim can use the money... what college kid doesn't need some pocket cash wink

Thanks for contributing!

Third party DriverPacks are edited and maintained by our users... that would be you...
the instructions on how to do that are stickied in this forum.

This pack has not been updated in two years if you don't do it - it probably won't get done at all.
I personally don't buy or recommend to my customers anything but HP printers so i have no interest in this pack at all.

If you would like it updated... feel free to add your driver and test it... then submit it here in a new thread

In order to do this you must have the printer to test the driver on... so far you are the ONLY one we know of who does have it.
Therefore you are the only one who can test it to see if it works.
if you were thinking of responding that you don't have the time why would you assume that we would. (we have lives too)

can you try updateing the commented out line with the correct value and report the result?

LOL... too funny wink  - you mean you never read "read before you post" in my signature? ROFL

usually you can just Google them. you only need the first two parts ususally.

PCI\VEN_10b7&DEV_9200&SUBSYS_100010B7  =
Google VEN_10b7&DEV_9200     result = DeviceDesc= "3Com EtherLink 10/100 PCI"
Google PCI\VEN_10b7&DEV_9200&SUBSYS_100010B7  result = DeviceDesc= "3Com EtherLink PCI TPC NIC (3C900B-TPC)"

VEN = Vendor ID         10b7 = 3COM
DEV = Device model    9200 = Etherlink 10/100
SUBSYS = Remanufacurer or subtype / variation

he misunderstood... obviously... it happens wink

This feature was added

each driver contains a changelog which is likely to be current
There should also be a post in the 3rd party DriverPack forum for each pack available although it looks like that pack is so old its post got retired...
Twig123 keeps a master list up to date for us - thanks Twig!

master list by twig http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?id=587

We were never able to find the problem...

Please review the trouble shooting steps above, make sure you have eliminated all of them...

If you can think of something we missed i am all ears

man it is great your back home... yay!

you could slipsrteam in the newer file to your source - or even "replace" the included driver
to do so you would only need to make a few changes (maybe none if your real lucky)
use makecab to compress them and place them in the I386 folder
verify that all the references in txtsetup and dosnet are updated (if needed) and add the files to the "force copy" section.

since this is syprep it may not work unless all the files have the same names as the originals. but worth a shot i figure...

let us know... thanks for your feedback

PS you might even get away with just overwriteing the one file wink

yes that is the most popular method with our regulars

rvm
nlite
base
wpi

keep us posted - wink

Thanks for following up!

have a great day big_smile

you can (from device manager) view their hwids
right click, select properties - select the details tab - then Hardware ID's from the drop down menu...

Hardware is always matched to drivers by their HWIDS (that is the reason they exist)

(and is why we always have to hound people to include them with thier posts)

the multi boot platform is not well documented... but it does work give it a shot...

Hint: you need to save some DPs_BASE.ini files in advance

DPs_BASEen.ini
DPs_BASEch.ini

the other settings can be wahtever works for you. but if the unatended section exists then you will not be offered the option to repair.

I use DVD's and i even carry an external USB DVD with my gear - your right it wont fit on cd

um besides ris for network  look at dtards posts in universal imaging we were investigating network located drivers there too
No your not on your own... there are just some obsticals with a remote DriverPacks method (some drivers take you offline when they install)

have a great day

Thanks for the log and your Input...

I am not sure what is next... thinking out loud here
does the dell driver have a setup.exe?
if so then we can use the finisher to call teh setup on first boot... that might work nicely
