Re: Stand Alone Driverpack utility for all OS (XP, 2k3, 2k8, Vista, Win7)

This is why we (continually) recommend people to start with a factory-fresh Microsoft hologramed CD image.
Any (ANY) image you download from the internet (unless it's from a microsoft.com source) WILL be tainted.

i did now have any problems before with this,do you know why its not running as before?

is this the reason that is not working in the log of dpbase? "Will not slipstream patches, Service Pack 3 was detected" ? or what that does it mean??

all of the patches we added to images prior to SP3 (IE a SP2 source) are included with SP3. If you have the most recent version (SP3) no patches are required (since they are included in SP3) and none are added. this is expected behavior. IT IS WORKING PERFECT.

you just answered your own question, changes were made after you added DriverPacks. This almost always results in errors. DriverPacks is the LAST step in creating your image. Or else.

I agree with my team, you need to start clean and you need to not add garbage as part of the install. If you want to add it post install that is up to you. I wouldn't. Adding extraneous garbage to your install is just asking for failure. The main reason people reinstall is to get RID of that kind of useless crap.

the link mr_smartepants included clearly demonstrates that this app is garbage.

And since AVG produces tune up utlities internal addon, wouldn't you expect it to be similar in quality?

Re: Stand Alone Driverpack utility for all OS (XP, 2k3, 2k8, Vista, Win7)

Sounds like you broke your svcpack.inf or cmdlines.txt or txtsetup.sif file.

Are the addons installing in the image you tested before you integrated DriverPacks?
You ARE testing each stage before moving on to the next modification...right?
Are they "svcpack" or "ROE" addons?

agreed... add service packs and patches. Test
Copy, add misc updates and necessities IE Dot NET. Test
Copy, add driverpacks. Test. done...

Re: Stand Alone Driverpack utility for all OS (XP, 2k3, 2k8, Vista, Win7)

If only there were a common methodology for the sake of repeatibility for those using updated sources.
I had been getting away from using stock sources myself for testing since May, and prolly must regress.
Anticipating that biggest impact would be on packages requiring updated MS installer, called by exceptions.

But YES, testing!  If one tests every step, one knows exactly where problems are to be found and corrections made.
That is science, is it not?  ie:  the ability for others to reproduce your own experimental results,.
That reminds me of Fleischmman & Pons, for some reason.

the are roe addons their entries are in the SYSOC.INF file
i`m testing the image step by step the addons are tested before.
to broke the svcpack i dont think so coz the addons there are installed
only the addons in the SYSOC.INF are not installed.

Exactly... sysoc.inf is not being called, is that an issue with svcpack or ROE???

The internal addons(inf) that their entries stored in the sysoc.inf are not been installed,They are Probably called ROE since they are not svcpack addons, how to call it??

problem is fixed(partial) it was the Kels_CPLBonus_v13.2_addon fault

now i got a blue screen(BSOD) at 2 minutes remaining to finish the windows setup saying:

A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen,
restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow
these steps:

Check for viruses on your computer. Remove any newly installed
hard drives or hard drive controllers. Check your hard drive
to make sure it is properly configured and terminated.
Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, and then
restart your computer.

Technical Information:

*** STOP: 0x0000007B (0xBACC3524,0xC0000034,0x00000000,0x00000000)

i manage to find the cause here its the achi masstorage driver i did the setup by setting  in ide(instead of native sata) mode the harddisk and setup finished without a  blue screen .the tested  sata controller is the Intel I/O Controller Hub 7 (ICH7)
Is the driverpack DP_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32_1405176.7z having any errors or bugs?

but this is not the only problem after windows setup in ide mode finished no drivers are installed for any device at all whats going on here..

Re: Stand Alone Driverpack utility for all OS (XP, 2k3, 2k8, Vista, Win7)

you added too many driverpacks... and have discovered the path limit bug. (devpath)

remove some (several) 3rd party DriverPack from your install. test. report.
(no need to start over just delete them from the OEM folder. wink.)

Once you get that far we will discuss how to deal with the remaining DriverPacks. big_smile

PS the search feature of our site does work and as you can see your current issue is posted in the FAQ section of our site. look around before crying wolf tongue. Also you were warned about this in a previous post above.

Re: Stand Alone Driverpack utility for all OS (XP, 2k3, 2k8, Vista, Win7)

... also, if i have this correct:

Quote of mr_smartepants:   "This is why we (continually) recommend people to start with a factory-fresh Microsoft hologramed CD image."

I swear the odds are good that if you integrated that nightly with DPs_BASE (QSC=off see QuickStream Cache + delete existing cache folder in DPs_BASE tree) and a virgin source you wouldn't get a $7B blue screen.

Until you give that a try, your existing image is for the most part, only good for ATAPI installs.

If however; after trying a test integration and test install (copy logs setup*.log, dp*.log), please post your HWID's via the HWID's tool linked in many of the signatures here at the following topic to avoid further dilution of this topic with a unrelated matter.  http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic. … 592#p57592

Re: Stand Alone Driverpack utility for all OS (XP, 2k3, 2k8, Vista, Win7)

That would appear to be a variety of hybrid graphics known as Optimus.
The drivers are simply missing from the pack, and might require manual installation via nVidia's associated setup program.  Sadly, processing exceptions are not yet supported.  Discussing that might be relevent in this topic, though am not certain.

It doesn't appear to be a bug per se with SAD3.
Please start another topic to continue this discussion with more info.  (32/64bit? HWIDs??)

Hi

Is there any to skip 7zip extraction in method 2? I want to do the extraction myself before running the cmd file.

the answer to your question is NO... There is no way to skip extraction with method two...
that is the definition of method two (M2) using compressed drivers.

uncompressed drivers or extracted drivers is method one (M1).

so no you can't do uncompressed with M2 because that would be M1 and not M2.

For the record you can't use the .7z archives with method one either.

Re: Stand Alone Driverpack utility for all OS (XP, 2k3, 2k8, Vista, Win7)

I'm using method 2 and SAD3 to try and install these drivers onto a new XP installation. The problem I'm having is that it tells me that it is extracting all 8 packs I have, but no drivers ever end up getting installed. These are XP era dell computers so I'd imagine the driverpack collection should be able to install a lan/video/chipset driver(s). I know the question might seem vague, but is there something ridiculously simple I might be missing here?

I copied and pasted the driverpacks folder onto a cd-rw if that helps any.

EDIT: I looked at the log file that's created in the windows directory and it mentioned that it tried doing method 1 but there was an error saying "no driver packages found". I put the driverpacks (zipped) in the NT5/x86/D folder. Beforehand I tried putting the zip files in the NT5/x86 folder and it said it tried Method 2 (still didn't work).

Re: Stand Alone Driverpack utility for all OS (XP, 2k3, 2k8, Vista, Win7)

it is important that the drivers are correctly staged...

location of packs, method desired, steps you took, and log

Re: Stand Alone Driverpack utility for all OS (XP, 2k3, 2k8, Vista, Win7)

Another question, Can I delete All Setup files (Exe files) from Drivers' Folders?
I think they will install by .inf file so there is no need for setup exe files. Am I right?

If I use that SAD3 zip file/folder, can i put the driverpacks in there (in the correct folder) and burn that directory to a CD or do I need to still use the DP Base installer and tell it I want a Stand Alone Driver Disc? I guess that's what's confusing me.
