Topic: Can't get BitTorrent to Download DP_MassStorage

Can't get BitTorrent to Download DP_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32_1209.7z.

It just sits there saying Connecting to peers and never goes anywhere.

I am told I need this Driver Pack to make my Dell machine recognize my hard drive and my USB External Seagate FreeAgent drive work on BartPE Boot Disk or UCDWin  Boot Disk.

How can I get this file to download? What could possibly be wrong?
Firewall is open; because I successfully downloaded The God Father by accident from BitTorrent.

Re: Can't get BitTorrent to Download DP_MassStorage

Try the latest RC and let me know what you think of it.

Be data safe.

Re: Can't get BitTorrent to Download DP_MassStorage

TechDud,

What is RC?  How does this help me to get the file I need which DriverPacks.net says can only be downloaded with BitTorrent?

Re: Can't get BitTorrent to Download DP_MassStorage

i've linked to it above and here.  if "12.09" is specifically what you need, i have no direct link for that.

To me, it is regrettables that you are having difficulty getting the latest official release.
I do note at this time that there are 160 Seeders.

Re: Can't get BitTorrent to Download DP_MassStorage

TechDud,

I followed your link and was able to download
DP_MassStorage_wnt5_86-32_10=303r2.7z.

I followed all the instructions in the which Luke Maciak posted in
his post Creating BartPE from Windows XP Dell OEM CD found at

http://www.terminally-incoherent.com/bl … ll-oem-cd/

and I  still can't create a BartPE or UBCD4Win Boot CD which will recognize either my Hard Drive or my Seagate FreeAgent USB backup drive.

Thanks for the help in getting to the getting to the above file.  Do you know anywhere I can go to get some help at getting the ability to create one of the prementioned Boot disks which will actually recognize my Storage devices?  I have been trying to figure this out now for a couple of months and haven't really made any true headway.

Re: Can't get BitTorrent to Download DP_MassStorage

That is an excellent article!  Thank you.
I especially liked the article concerning Windows "crufting".  http://www.terminally-incoherent.com/bl … -crufting/

fixdell.inf may be part of the issue.  see step 11?
Disable "QSC" if available as an option in DP_BASE.

Why not post your HWID's and DP_BASE.log? (a link exists in either my or OverFlow's or Mr_Smartepants' signature)
It could also be an until-now unreported issue with the current RC (at least).

... only 1 seedbox now - 7 torrents being seeded
167 seeders of DP_MS_wnt5 v12.09

Re: Can't get BitTorrent to Download DP_MassStorage

TechDud,

I am not sure what you are requesting here:

Why not post your HWID's (link in either my or OverFlow's or Mr_Smartepants' signature) and DP_BASE.log?
It could also be an until-now unreported issue with the current RC (at least).

I don't know know what you mean by linking in the above signatures.
When replying to a post how do I do that?

Here are my HWIDs:

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2652&CC_0106   -   "Intel(R) 82801FR SATA AHCI Controller (Desktop ICH6R)"
That HWID does exist in MassStorage.ini.

Excuse me, you downloaded the GodFather?
I think our conversation is at an end.

I would think that your ISP might have had a problem with that, perhaps.

At the risk of ending up with a horse's head (or worse) in my bed i will only add the following info:

I do note that you may not be the only person with this issue on that MassStorage Controller.
http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?id=6424

Pray tell, how does one accidently download a movie?
Did they send it to you first, without asking your permit and demanded money later?

Firewall is open; because I successfully downloaded The God Father by accident from BitTorrent.

The reason for that part of the first post was to let you know that my Windows Firewall was indeed turned off; so that is not why BitTorrent wasn't able to Connect to peers to get the file I was attempting to get.

I actually never let it finish downloading the "Free Instant Download" (The God Father) found on BitTorent ; but is was connected and started the download. I had never used BitTorrent before in my life (never even knew what a torrent file was) and was just clicking on stuff attempting to get the download of DP_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32_1209.7z (which I had started a minute or so earlier) to get out of "Connecting to peers" message and get on with the download.

I am actually one of those people who pay for almost everything I have gotten off the internet (except for free software downloads, shareware). I have never downloaded any music or videos for free.  I believe that copyright and trademarks should be respected and adhered to.  I refuse to let friends borrow and copy a Music CD or Video which I have purchased.

Re: Can't get BitTorrent to Download DP_MassStorage

First we definitely don't support warez... so let's not let that happen again, there are plenty of legitimate torrents to test.

second your DPs_BASE.log says you do have a firewall
2013-03-16 20:50:54 : <GUI>  DNS for DriverPacks.net failed
2013-03-16 20:50:54 : <GUI>  DNS for DriverPacks.net failed

internet access is denied...

So something is fire walling you.

Looks like your BASE load built the plugins... Was your PEBuilder log without errors?

Re: Can't get BitTorrent to Download DP_MassStorage

Have you installed the latest BIOS for your particular system?  Be aware that if you are not familiar with BIOS updates and the risks of "bricking" your motherboard, skip the idea.

I'm thinking that textmode could use a rollback to v6.0.1.1002 for  as indicated by that topic i mentioned a couple of posts ago for the following two HWID's.

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2652&CC_0106
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2652&CC_0104

The External drive might require to be mounted before integration?
Another possibility is that it needs HWPnP plugin to recognize such a drive.

Somebody more competent with BartPE might chime in here.

Re: Can't get BitTorrent to Download DP_MassStorage

Overflow,

It probably shows those HWIDs because I do have the Windows Firewall turned on again.  I turned it on again after successfully getting the DP_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32_1303r2.7z file from the link provided from TechDud in one of his posts. I don't want someone to get into my system again like they got into my Yahoo account about a month ago.  What a job trying to cleanup after that attack! My computer has been a mess since running all the cleaners (bot removal, spyware removal, registry repair, etc).  Somehow in this cleanup process I managed to wipe-out all my Windows Restores and am not able to get into Safe Mode anymore.

What is warez... ?

PEBuilder logs shows 3 warnings and no errors.

Warning: building from an OEM version of Windows can mean trouble...
Warning: Creating ISO-9660:1999 (version 2) filesystem.
Warning: ISO-9660 filenames longer than 31 may cause buffer overflows in the OS.
Building done...
There where 0 errors and 1 warnings

TechDud,
No, I have never messed with the Bios.
There has been no need to up to this point.
Don't have a clue how to flash the Bios.

How do I rollback textmode to v6.0.1.1002 for those 2
HWIDs?

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2652&CC_0106 &   PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2652&CC_0104

Are you talking about post with link to post from "lightguy48" which has link in it to Dimension 8400?

Do I need to change my RAID setting under my Drivers icon from
RAIDAutodetect/AHCI to RAIDAutodetect/ATA as suggested in the link?

This is all new to me! The only reason I am moving down this road is to attempt to restore my computer back to the way it was in July when I was able to successfully make an image of the hard drive.  To get it back to functioning the way it was long before the attack I  described above. I was told it was very easy task to this restore the hard drive from the image file, yet it has been nothing of the sort. The Boot disks I have attempted to create to restore this image has all failed as I described in earlier posts.

Re: Can't get BitTorrent to Download DP_MassStorage

To test a theory, delete ich6id2.inf from your pebuilder plugins\DriverPacks.net folder before building.

klhpraise wrote:

Ah, that is something would require "shoehorning" in.  The driver is mentioned in the other post.

Another thought is using v5.5.0.1035 for textmode.  How many ports does that have?

What OS are you basing your BartPE off of?
Oh, that's UBCD4Win?

Also, note what i mentioned in my other reply for PE today.  CR2032's only last a few years or so, depending on grade.

Here's a test MassStorage.ini:
Extract the RC MassStorage to a folder & replace the [ I] & [I2} sections in the ini with the following & then archive it to 7z with 7zip (settings - 7z,Ultra,LZMA,32MB,256,512MB,2) & rebuild your disc:

Wow lot's to cover...

A Good answer to the question...

well that is not perfect,

you already said you knew there were obstacles to building with an OEM disc.
It is always best to build BartPE with a clean Retail (or VL) Hologramed XP SP2 source.
I have had almost no issues with using SP3 source... but SP2 is recommended.
I trust that you addressed the known issues with your source...

the second two errors should be correctable.

R U building with ubcd4win?
It is unlikely that a UBCD4Win build would have either of those issues logged.
I believe post processing would have corrected both of them before image creation.
I do recommend that you do use UBCD4Win if you are not using it.
MUCH easier for a beginner big_smile. It is specifically written to make it "mistake and omission resilient".

An easier way might be to just use an older dpms version that has that older driver... than to edit the current one. But either way it works.

easier still...
your machine should have a restore partition with a factory image on it...
you should be able to launch the restore process from your BartPE disk. (it's just like safemode)
you might also find that you can restore this factory image from the boot menu options.
(lots of manufacturers do this. Check their support site for factory restore or Recovery... you might also try OOBE)

oh crud.  If you do replace the [ i] & [i2] sections, delete the space before the i.  I've corrected that above.

After you've taken care of your data, that is.  Please indicate later if it works for you.  I'll post a nightly.

1a.  We do not support warez or pirated installs.  Our definition of this is:  Did you obtain your license from Microsoft or an authorized OEM vendor?  Do you have a legal hologram-ed disc?  If the answers to both of those questions is "Yes", please continue.  Otherwise, go legit or go home.  Warez is a support nightmare for the DriverPacks staff.  99% of the DriverPacks failures are caused by the idiot who modified/released the pirated OS source in the first place because they didn't know what they were doing.

A fix for both PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2652&CC_0104 & PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2652&CC_0106 is preliminarily confirmed on a dell XPS Gen 4 (ICH6\R - RAID\AHCI).   smile

As for BitTorrent Downloads.... see above post.

Re: Can't get BitTorrent to Download DP_MassStorage

As an additional note, WinSetupFromUSB v1beta bluescreens with STOP:7B in at least AHCI mode on that XPS.
Going to try v6.0.1.1002 and see if USB support can be extended here.

Re: Can't get BitTorrent to Download DP_MassStorage

Answer:  Nope.
