Driver works wonderfully on my D-link PCI card! cool
This package:   ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp51501-52000/sp51988.exe
   has a help file (Broadcom WLAN Adapter User Guide) included in the setup.exe file that does a wonderful job of explaining the 'advanced' tab settings.:cool:

Re: [REQ] WLAN - Broadcom BCM43xx updated drivers

Hopefully, yet updated software rarely fixes HW problems! sad It usually starts w. the P/S, you likely wouldn't like the sound off an amp with a 3rd-rate P/S.  PCIe (& Mini-PCIe - laptop) chipsets (ie: HP dv6xxx-9xxx series,etc, etc, etc - nVidia Bumpgate) & chipset drivers can influence system functionality.  Mechanical switches can malfunction, as they are prone to torsional & frictional forces.  Then there is the cumulative properties of 'User Error'! mad

As Mark Twain once said, "There's many a slip twixt the cup and the lip".

Perhaps the hardware doesn't work properly with a live linux CD?  If it works on an alternative OS, you can nearly guarantee Windows driver issues.

Re: [REQ] WLAN - Broadcom BCM43xx updated drivers

Well, broadcom doesn't release reference wifi drivers to the public (unlike their LAN drivers).  They give them to the OEMs and we rely on the OEM to build a decent set of wifi drivers for their broadcom chip implementation and HOPE that the drivers work for other OEMs.
This is a case where one OEM driver was more compatible than a newer set from a different OEM.

Re: [REQ] WLAN - Broadcom BCM43xx updated drivers

Ah, "N"

Does the aforementioned driver contain HWID's for 'n' devices?  (Answer: yes)

Re: [REQ] WLAN - Broadcom BCM43xx updated drivers

Why delete, if the problem you had with this driver was your update methodology?

Re: [REQ] WLAN - Broadcom BCM43xx updated drivers

updated Broadcom WLAN driver for XP (WHQL v5.100.235.19 including utility) available here --> http://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles … mp;SC=PA_7  cool

Note:  In order to install the utility, the setup.exe included must be extracted, & the extracted setup.ini must be modified to show "CmdLine=".  Use the extracted Setup.exe to install. (Make note of wireless password/setting, or use the 'export' function in the old utility) big_smile

Note2:  The old VWL folder from driver "broadcom-wlan-xp-5604835" may be needed for 'Virtual Wireless LAN' support.

Seems to be more responsive upon startup & SB/Hibernate, no major delay for sys access anymore. cool cool

Re: [REQ] WLAN - Broadcom BCM43xx updated drivers

The third time I face an error of installation of WiFi-drivers from Broadcom in a package 11.09. With a package of 1103/1104 problems isn't present. Problems happen from 11.09 different and it is not clear from what it depends: or complains of discrepancy of section in an inf-file; or finds the device, the master of installation of the device displays, which comes to an end successful (!!!) device installation, after pressing in which... finds the same device, deduces the master and so on a cycle.

Worked on Windows 8.1 Pro

Re: [REQ] WLAN - Broadcom BCM43xx updated drivers

Here's a newer driver to try.  It's DriverVer=05/20/2011, 5.100.82.82 & unlike the previous driver (5.100.235.19) it specifically states SUBSYS for HP Broadcom SKU's ( http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic. … 942#p45942 hmm

Re: [REQ] WLAN - Broadcom BCM43xx updated drivers

I'm hoping someone here can help me find BCM43xx ver 5.100.98.78 which apparently came out on 6/16/2011. I'm currently using ver 5.100.198.22 and it still hasn't resolved my issue of connecting to my 5ghz network. It can see the network, but cannot connect. Booting up this same hardware to Lion (Mac Mini) allows it to connect to my 5ghz network so I know it's a driver issue.

If I can help by uploading my current version 5.100.198.22 somewhere, let me know. I'd love to try the newest version available and see if it resolves this issue.

Re: [REQ] WLAN - Broadcom BCM43xx updated drivers

Updated BCM43xx 'NDIS5' WHQL'ed drivers for WinXP (x86 & x64) {DriverVer=06/28/2011, 5.100.82.94 - same HWIDs as 5.100.235.19 above} available here --> http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc … w803ww.exe smile
  uncorked below (with utility & extensive help files - awesome Hardware/Connection diagnostics incl.)
      --> http://www.mediafire.com/file/rnaewcybm … 4_WinXP.7z big_smile

* i note peak D-P-C latency is ~66% that of 5.100.235.19 - need confirmation for 'n' incl. 5GHz
         - this should be observed by a statistically-significant system latency decrease,
           &  statistically-significant performance/battery-cycleTime increases smile

*** installation note for those using previous BCM utility:
          1) export your connection authentication details through the 'Wireless Networks' tab in the utility first
                or make note of your previous authentication method & password(s)
          2) uninstall the old utility before installing new version

Re: [REQ] WLAN - Broadcom BCM43xx updated drivers

HP-specific Broadcom Wifi DriverVer=10/26/2011, v5.100.82.112 XP WHQL updated
here --> ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp56001-56500/sp56154.exe big_smile
readme --> ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp56001-56500/sp56154.html
It's in there, utility & all, despite the readme indicating otherwise. smile

lenovo-specific driver v5.100.82.112 WHQL'ed for XP supports the following adapters:

1x1 11  b/g/n Wireless LAN PCI Express Half Mini Card Adapter
2x2 11a/b/g/n Wireless LAN PCI Express Half Mini Card Adapter
http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc … wa05ww.exe big_smile

ASUS-generic+specific driver v5.100.82.112 XP WHQL overlaps 'generic' v5.100.82.94 except for the following HWID's:

PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4727
PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4359

http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/misc/w … XPWin7.zip big_smile

For those two HWID's, the old generic may need be retained (unless i find something better) smile

  However; I note that this driver bluescreens my XP system upon shutdown/restart.
  STOP $7E in bcmwl5.sys {$C0000005, ....}

This file has the same SHA1 hash as the other v5.100.82.112  bcmwl5.sys files. sad
  I resolved the issue by rolling back the driver to 5.100.82.94

*** I have updated the former 5.100.82.94 pack with the utility (v5.100.82.124) from the lenovo-specific pack, then modifying the setup.ini to remove the CMDline options.  This older driver avoids bluescreens on my old Linksys WMP54GS (from v5.100.82.112).  It is not a small update over the MFG's recommendations. (04/28/2005 ,v3.100.46.0)  I can finally realize how well-built the hardware truly is.  I sure appreciate the HW/network Diagnostics & Site Monitor in the utility.  The ability to reduce transmit power  in the Device Manager (unverified) is what i like most of all.
Also, i have replaced both VisualC++2005 installers with the VC2005 SP1 KB2538242 Redistributable.
Reference --> http://www.autopatcher.com/forums/topic … __p__17046

Keep in mind that this pack is technically experimental.  Backup your WiFi settings (PW, etc.) before installing.  Backup any important data for further safety.  With the instructions provided, anyone should be able to replicate this pack themselves.
Hash files are included & verifiable with CDCheck.

What this pack does to or for security on an XP_x86 or XP_x64 system; i have no idea.  You tell me.
  It would be refreshing to hear some feedback.  "Paging Mr. Goodspeed."

Edit:  lenovo release a generic version of v5.100.82.112 here --> http://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mob … wm03ww.exe
           Unfortunately, this one bluescreens too.
