Topic: [SLVD] DPSB1108 HDAUDIO Asus P5B-Deluxe driver installs but no sound

Hello!

The driver installs ok, but when I play an audio file, it sais no audio.

When I try to install the driver manually, it works from \D\S\S15\
Any ideas?

Re: [SLVD] DPSB1108 HDAUDIO Asus P5B-Deluxe driver installs but no sound

Excellent first post! big_smile
Welcome to DriverPacks!

That's an odd bug.  Your HWID doesn't match any of the known "problem kids".  I'll dig around and see what I can find.
Do you know the driver version that gets loaded automatically that doesn't work?

Your HWID isn't matched to any driver in my working copy (11.11 release) except for the folder as you noted \D\S\S15

Can you test this for us?

It`s the same driver version as loaded manually.

Is there a way to test it without reformatting?

Re: [SLVD] DPSB1108 HDAUDIO Asus P5B-Deluxe driver installs but no sound

Whoa, what?  So the driver that doesn't work is the one from \D\S\S15 ???
Now I'm confused.  Why would you load a driver manually that doesn't work?

Re: [SLVD] DPSB1108 HDAUDIO Asus P5B-Deluxe driver installs but no sound

If the driver gets loaded automatic, it`s not working.
If I manually load the driver from \D\S\S15, it`s working.

It`s very strange... I was about to open a new topic for this.
DP are made for Stand Alone Drivers. DP_Install_Tool.cmd is started from GuiRunOnce (manually aded).
It starts ok after installing windows, it finishes ok, but a lot of drivers are not loaded (video, lan, sound, etc.).
When I start again Install Tool, after restarting windows, everithng is recognised, except sound.
If I manually locate the sound, it`s working.

Re: [SLVD] DPSB1108 HDAUDIO Asus P5B-Deluxe driver installs but no sound

Sometimes I've found that happens also.  Normally, the chipset drivers need to be loaded first, then the system restarted, then the rest of the DriverPacks can be loaded.  I've only really seen that on a bare-metal install with no drivers.  This is why I normally integrate the DriverPack Chipset into the Windows install.

Maybe that sound chip is just a fussy 'eater'?

Re: [SLVD] DPSB1108 HDAUDIO Asus P5B-Deluxe driver installs but no sound

A year or maybe more ago, when I was using DP (don`t remember version) integrated into ISO, everything was ok.
How to test

Actually, that's not a true statement.  DriverPacks are designed for direct integration into the source.  SAD2 works for MOST of the DriverPacks.  Some drivers do NOT like being loaded by dpinst.exe after the desktop.  Graphics and some Audio drivers are like that.

You're best bet is to try the direct integration of DriverPacks by DriverPacks BASE, format a spare HDD and install and see if the problem still exists.

Re: [SLVD] DPSB1108 HDAUDIO Asus P5B-Deluxe driver installs but no sound

Enghlish is not my base language. Sorry for any misunderstanding.

In DP Base, section Settings, subsection Location -> Installation platform, I choose Stand Alone Drivers.
That`s way I said "DP are made for Stand Alone Drivers." tongue
Then I edit winnt.sif, section GuiRunOnce to point DP_Install_Tool.cmd.
As far as I know, GuiRunOnce runs before desktop loads, or am I wrong informed?

Re: [SLVD] DPSB1108 HDAUDIO Asus P5B-Deluxe driver installs but no sound

Well, that's an unusual method for install.  It might work but I wouldn't recommend that way.
I still recommend that you directly integrate DriverPacks with DriverPacks BASE (method 2 is my personal favorite) with DriverPacks Finisher executed during RunOnceEx (again, my preference) and see if the problem still exists.

Re: [SLVD] DPSB1108 HDAUDIO Asus P5B-Deluxe driver installs but no sound

Ok, I`ll try theese days and report back.

What`s the difference between method 2 from iso or from another location?
From iso, drivers gets extracted to systemdrive before setup and DPSFinisher is executed by GuiRunonce(Ex), right before desktop loading.
From another location, drivers are NOT extracted to systemdrive before setup, windows installation goes to end, GuiRunonce runs DP_Install_Tool, which extracts drivers to systemdrive and Finisher do his job.
Correct?

Re: [SLVD] DPSB1108 HDAUDIO Asus P5B-Deluxe driver installs but no sound

In this case, timing is everything!
During a normal XP (with method-2 DriverPacks) install, the drivers are actually installed between the T-36 & T-33 stages of the "GUI install".  This uses a completely different method than what SAD uses and I feel it's much better at installing drivers than how SAD does it.
For more info on the XP install timeline, I recommend you read here: http://unattended.msfn.org/unattended.xp/view/web/13/

Re: [SLVD] DPSB1108 HDAUDIO Asus P5B-Deluxe driver installs but no sound

STand Alone Drivers 2 also supports NT6 - IE Vista and Win 7

It will not work any better for your situation... it is the same tool.
It just also supports the newer OS's.
