Topic: [SLVD] 11.08 Intel ICH10 NT5 8086:1C03 causes STOP 7B
Hi,
Sorry for the cryptic subject line, but I wanted to include as much specific information as possible for future searches within the 70-character limit.
I had trouble with DriverPacks Mass Storage 11.08 bluescreening (STOP 0x0000007B) as text mode setup tried to start, on a Toshiba Tecra R850 laptop which uses an Intel ICH10(?) storage controller with the PCIID of 8086:1c03.
Interestingly, it would bluescreen just the same if the controller was set to "Compatibility" (meaning IDE) mode in the BIOS.
I eventually got PART WAY around this fault by manually replacing the Intel ICH9/10 drivers in the Mass Storage DriverPack with an updated copy downloaded from here:
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_ … p;lang=eng
In my case I went for the 32-bit (x86) build, being for Windows XP.
I did this by replacing the files as found inside DP_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32_1108.7z\D\M\I9 with those from the above download, including copying the newer iastor.sys over iastor9.sys.
Install then proceeded into textmode, through GUI setup, but when it tries to boot after GUI mode setup, BSOD again. Ugh!
It will install and boot with the above workaround in place AND with SATA in Compatibility (IDE) mode - must do both.
What could I have missed?
Any help appreciated.
Thanks,
Andrew
