Topic: looking for Dell Cerc SATA 2s Driver

I am in the misted of setting up my new to me Dell Poweredge 1800, with CERC SATA 2S and a Perc 5/1. I have an image on a single disk on the CERC SATA 2s and want to move it to the 5/i mirrored disk set and boot from that.

I am using ubcd4win to boot with, and that have latest drives pack base 10.06 and updated lan, mass storage and  wlan.  My problem is that  I can see the Perc 5/i but cannot see the the Cerc SATA 2s.

What gives

ALWAYS include in your post
- DPs_BASE.ini (from the same directory as DPs_BASE.exe)
- DPs_BASE.log (from the same directory as DPs_BASE.exe)
  * For Base versions 8.9x or higher only the DPs_BASE.log is needed.
** For Base versions 9.x or newer the Log files are archived in the \LogFiles\ folder of BASE.
     This way you can find a Log for any previous slipstream or run of the program.
     (In case you accidentally overwrote the current log in the BASE folder)

IF RELEVANT, include in your post
- %SystemRoot%\DPsFnshr.log  (to help us determine DriverPacks Finisher specific errors)
- %SystemRoot%\setupapi.log  (to help us determine why a specific driver failed)

- HWID's (Hardware Identification numbers) are almost always helpful.

Re: looking for Dell Cerc SATA 2s Driver

The Dell cerc sata 2s is an Adaptec card.  Your hwids don't list any Adaptec hardware.  Are you sure you have that card installed?
If so, then un-zip the dpms, and edit the .ini file.
Change this:

; [D2]
; ms_count=1
; ms_1_deviceName="Dell/Adaptec CERC SATA 2S (W2K/W2K3)"
; ms_1_tag="aarich"
; ms_1_sysFile="aarich.sys"
; ms_1_hwids="PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_24DF,PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_25B0,PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2652&SUBSYS_01801028,PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2652&SUBSYS_01851028"
; ms_1_isBusExtender=false
; ms_1_exc_skipIfOS="wxp"
; ms_1_exc_disableIfOS="w2k"

Into this (remove all ';' and one line):

[D2]
ms_count=1
ms_1_deviceName="Dell/Adaptec CERC SATA 2S (W2K/W2K3)"
ms_1_tag="aarich"
ms_1_sysFile="aarich.sys"
ms_1_hwids="PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_24DF,PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_25B0,PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2652&SUBSYS_01801028,PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2652&SUBSYS_01851028"
ms_1_isBusExtender=false
ms_1_exc_disableIfOS="w2k"

Those drivers are only supported by 2003 server.  Dell doesn't provide any XP drivers.  So this MAY not work.

Re: looking for Dell Cerc SATA 2s Driver

ok I willl try it, I am using xp to run the ubcd4win image creation, then I copy to a usb stick and move to the dell server where that card id installed (emedded in th MB). I am trying to copy one disk to the other.

Re: looking for Dell Cerc SATA 2s Driver

again you don't show the HWID for that device ERGO you don't have one big_smile

Second Since the drivers are only for 2003 server you may have to build UBCD4Win with 2k3 server source to succeed...

If the embedded device is not enabled in the bios, it won't be "seen" by any utility.

Re: looking for Dell Cerc SATA 2s Driver

that is true, device was enabled, booted with uncd4win and the os (ubce4win) did b=not see it.

But did devcon list a relating HardwareID?
So far it's a BIOS issue first. There have to have a HardwareID first.

Dosn't use a Poweredge 1800 a XEON cpu? That's not a Core2Duo.
List Poweredge 1800 HardwareIDs.
