Topic: problem with Broadcom Bluetooth on a lenovo G560 in v1005b1

Hi
I have a Lenovo G560 and it has a Broadcom bluetooth
The "DP_Bluetooth_wnt5_x86-32_910.7z" doesn't install it  and "DP_Bluetooth_wnt5_x86-32_1005b1.7z" shows an error saying that it needs to be run on a admin privilege user right before the dpsfnshr starts.
The user is administrator and i have no idea why it shows this error.

does anyone know what's wrong here ?

Yes.
v9.10 is too old.
v10.05b1 is beta (testing) and is broken.

I myself do not use the bluetooth Third Party DriverPack and instead install the bluetooth drivers from the OEM site as needed.  Only about 20% of the systems I install actually have bluetooth onboard.
In my opinion, that pack is a waste of time.  But if you manage to figure out how to fix it, let us know. wink

Re: problem with Broadcom Bluetooth on a lenovo G560 in v1005b1

well, I'm no expert on this but after a little wandering around in this forum and a small peek inside the bluetooth pack, i realized that the variety of bluetooth devices aren't much. apparently there's only 3 major types in the pack so why is it so hard to wrap it up and build a new pack ?

I'm not judging your ability or knowledge, I just don't understand the problem. maybe if you explain it to me and give me a hint, I'll be able to work on it and help to make it work.

I have some theories about it right now but before any long test I want to make sure that I'll learn from your experiences first.
I'll be glad to help

All the info and history you need is in this thread: http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?id=2985
The last working version for most was 9.10.
The problem isn't the drivers, it's the connection applications that cause all the problems.  You need the specific app for your chipset.  One of the problems is the similarity in the driver names, combined with the DriverPacks Finisher inability to index the device id's on the USB bus means that you stand a good chance of having the wrong connection app install.  It's a combination of problems.
If you want to try to fix it, start by including updated drivers only, then test on your hardware.  Once you get a working pack, then try to add the connection installers last.

Re: problem with Broadcom Bluetooth on a lenovo G560 in v1005b1

I did not realize that DriverPacks Finisher was not pulling HWIDs from USB... Hmmm i could look into that if that is true

Re: problem with Broadcom Bluetooth on a lenovo G560 in v1005b1

We discussed that a while ago.  DriverPacks Finisher pulls in the entire HWID list for the log file only.  When matching .inf files, DriverPacks Finisher only compares HWIDs beginning with PCI; it skips ACPI, HDAUDIO and USB for speed.
It was never a problem before.

seems that we were thinking alike. last night I tested some of my theories and one of them was exactly as you said and apparently it works fine. if I had your answer last night I wouldn't be struggling with every possible theory till morning.

anyway I created a new Bluetooth pack using the latest updated version of Broadcom driver and replaced "BT5508600.exe" in "DP_Bluetooth_wnt5_x86-32_1005b1.7z\D\3\BT\B\" with my own installer (or as you said connection application) retrieved from broadcom driver.

It worked perfect on the laptop I mentioned previously. But I have to test it on some other laptops to see if they show any sign of malfunction.
Unfortunately I don't have all the necessary variety of laptops to be sure about this driverpack. what do you suggest ? should I abandon this driverpack at all or there could be hope for it?

Re: problem with Broadcom Bluetooth on a lenovo G560 in v1005b1

That's a fine start!  Once you've verified your pack works on the hardware you have access to, then upload to mediafire (or another file-sharing site) and post a link here for others to try.
Once the majority of hardware has been tested successfully by others, we then make the pack a final version and upload to the main server for broad deployment.  That's how the Third Party DriverPacks work! smile

You are now a Third Party DriverPack developer!
Welcome to the club.

Re: problem with Broadcom Bluetooth on a lenovo G560 in v1005b1

wow, thanks "mr_smartepants".
I'll upload it somewhere as soon as I made sure that it worked fine on all my test PCs and laptops. I'm still working on it.

Besides I found a bug in Graphics_A & C which I'm gonna report in my other post here : http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?id=5075

This is what I've prepared for Bluetooth driverpack.
unzip it and put it inside the "DP_Bluetooth_wnt5_x86-32_1005b1.7z". you should remove the old folder "\D\3\BT\B"

http://hotfile.com/dl/103983520/99872e7 … m.zip.html

sorry, my internet speed wasn't good enough to upload the whole pack but the other parts were intact in my test pack.
I've already tested it on three different laptops and it worked without any problem. I'm gonna test it on two other laptops tomorrow and will inform you about the results.

I'll be glad to see other members comments and test results.

Re: problem with Broadcom Bluetooth on a lenovo G560 in v1005b1

nobody tested it yet ?!
where are you guys ?
I was hoping I could have some comments by now.

Re: problem with Broadcom Bluetooth on a lenovo G560 in v1005b1

Well to be fair, the only bluetooth objects in my household are my cellphone and headset so I can't test. wink
Others will be around, testing will happen but slowly.
