Topic: how can I add Geforce G310 to the driverpacks ?

Hi
I've got an IBM Lenovo G560 with an Nvidia G310 Graphic card.
I wanted to add it's driver to the driverpacks because the current version of graphic driverpacks doesn't install it.

I tried adding it as a 3rd party driverpack that would decompress beside the other graphic drivers. I tried every method i could come up with but every time I received the same error saying :

"Failed to install one of the core component which may affect driver functionality. The most recent driver that worked will now be restored."

And then the Nvidia uninstaller shows up and after that it asks to restart the computer.
Also in the next reboot it shows an error relating to copying "NvCplSetupInt.exe"
After windows installation completes it seems OK like other drivers that I've added but this error concerns me and also stops setup a few times during the installation. I want to fix it but I don't know how.
oh, forgot to mention that I've added driverpacks to windows setup. (XPSP3)

So How  can I fix this problem?
Please help if you know anything.
thanks

Yours should be supported in the latest generic Nvidia drivers v266.58

I have these graphic packs :
DP_Graphics_A_wnt5_x86-32_1011.7z
DP_Graphics_B_wnt5_x86-32_10111.7z
DP_Graphics_C_wnt5_x86-32_1011.7z

Is there a nightly version which is based on v266.58 ?
Or is it possible that I upgrade it myself ?

Re: how can I add Geforce G310 to the driverpacks ?

I'm not sure if here is the perfect place for saying this but the sound card wasn't installed too. I thought maybe you'd also want to take a look at that.
I added it through 3rd party drivers and it worked (at least as much as I can detect).

Re: how can I add Geforce G310 to the driverpacks ?

I downloaded the link you posted "mr_smartepants" and added it as a 3rd party driver and it worked perfectly.
but I'm not sure if I should remove some of the old graphic packs or not, any comment ?

Also I had a problem with "DP_Bluetooth_wnt5_x86-32_1005b1.7z" and I'm trying "DP_Bluetooth_wnt5_x86-32_910.7z" right now.

I'll check here occasionally to see if anyone had any idea about what I did !
thanks in advance

Re: how can I add Geforce G310 to the driverpacks ?

I feel so lonely here, is it me or no one really exists in this forum anymore ?
any comment would be more than welcome, just say something about it so I can realize if I've done something wrong during the process or it's just OK this way !

Re: how can I add Geforce G310 to the driverpacks ?

LOL, it's a Tuesday.  Real life takes priority for many of us.

Your graphics card is supported in the latest DriverPack Graphics A release candidate in testing.  Won't be long now.
I added your sound drivers to the DriverPack Sound B release candidate.  I haven't yet uploaded to the testing team.

Re: how can I add Geforce G310 to the driverpacks ?

well, after a few tests apparently the new drivers which I added recently worked great.
thanks for your help.

Re: how can I add Geforce G310 to the driverpacks ?

there was the following command in "DriverPack_Graphics_A_wnt5_x86-32.ini" , "DriverPack_Graphics_C_wnt5_x86-32.ini" :
"%DPSROOT%\D\G\A1\AVIVO\setup.exe /S /v/qb"
which caused this error about not being able to register a dll related to ATI graphic cards. I didn't save the screenshot of the error but after I changed the command line switch to "/S /v/qn" it resolved the error. I know this switch won't fix the problem but I thought you might wanna look into it.

I almost forgot to say that I'm using version wnt5_x86-32_1011

Re: how can I add Geforce G310 to the driverpacks ?

Thanks, I'll look into it.  I haven't had that error in the latest test build (uses Catalyst 11.01) so maybe the new version fixed it on it's own. wink
I prefer using the /qb switch because it gives a progress bar during installation.  /qn gives no feedback at all (silent).

Re: how can I add Geforce G310 to the driverpacks ?

I found another bug in Graphics pack v1011
apparently the integrated ATI driver has a problem with Radeon HD 3850.
the blue screen error says that "ati2dvag" stucks in an infinite loop.
I searched a little about it and found out that it might need an update, so i downloaded the new version of ATI driver for 3xxx series from the official site. but unfortunately the new driver had the same bug too.
then i reverted to my old driver from 2009  and everything was back to normal.
could you check it out in the new build of Graphic packs ?

Re: how can I add Geforce G310 to the driverpacks ?

I tested it on my HD3450 (similar) and had no issue.
If the official drivers have the same problem for you, then either the official drivers are broken (which we can do nothing) or you're doing something wrong.

maybe there's a misunderstanding. my question wasn't answered here so i thought it might be answered in a new thread. but anyway i asked for a link to download RC versions of graphic packs for test.

besides I wanted to update them myself, is there a guide on how to edit and upgrade graphic packs or should I just go with trial and error method ?

Re: how can I add Geforce G310 to the driverpacks ?

Graphics processing has become an essential ingredient to the modern PC. Nowadays, we simply demand more from our PCs. If you want to enhance photos, edit videos, watch movies, play games, or if you simply desire a Premium Windows® 7 Experience, the NVIDIA® GeForce® 310 graphics card brings impressive graphics processing power to your PC at an incredible value.

Re: how can I add Geforce G310 to the driverpacks ?

Graphics processing is about to be included in the 'CPU', now known as an APU.  nV is having trouble with some of the latest cards & performance issues at higher resolutions.  I have no word on whether that issue has been resolved or not.  I'm not a nV-hater, dammit, i wish they'd start giving AMD a real run for their money.  A lack of competition helps no one (well, intel rules the roost in proliferation terms).  coke, pepsi, dodge, ford, potato, what's the difference, spud?

It's only an 'incredible' value if it will still work in 3 years, I'd want a 5-year warranty minimum.  It sucks bullocks that North America doesn't force manufacturers to stand behind their products like in the EU (as i'm told).
