Re: [SLVD] Bug HP NC373i & NC373T drivers

I don't know if it can be of any interest in finding a solution to this issue, but UBCD4WIN 3.22 (latest is 3.50) with its included Net drivers v. 2.05 and no DP_LAN works fine with my HP NC373i and NC373T NICs.

Hi,
do you have updates on this issue?
I know that UBCD4WIN 3.60 is in the beta status, do you know if it fixes this bug in some way?

I don't know... I am on the beta / development team over there I will have to drop by and see what they have in process thanks for the heads up... again

Re: [SLVD] Bug HP NC373i & NC373T drivers

I just tested the recently released UBCD4WIN 3.60 and unfortunately it doesn't fix the HP NC373i & NC373T issue with its included DP_LAN drivers.
I didn't test updating both Base and DP_LAN (but it doesn't seem to me that this issue hasn't been handled anymore).

Does anyone know which LAN and Mass Storage driverpacks have been included in the default build?

Also, as the old UBCD4WIN 3.22 with its included Net drivers v. 2.05 works OK, does anyone know if I could in some way "merge" DP_LAN with those drivers (at least only with the working HP one) and fix this problem?
Thank you for any help.

Any idea for fixing this issue or regarding driver "mix"?

There is RIS driver included: b06nd.inf, B06ND51X.SY_

And a 2003 driver bxvbd.inf.

Both driver refers a PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_164C.
This may cause a conflict.

Re: [SLVD] Bug HP NC373i & NC373T drivers

I've created a separate RIS Third Party DriverPack few weeks back.  Should I remove the RIS drivers from the main DriverPack LAN?
That might solve the problem.

It worked! Both NICS were installed as "Broadcom BCM5708C NetXtreme II monolithic driver" (driver ver. 5.0.0.0 - 28/04/09 - unsigned).
Thank you very much!

Thanks for report.

A warning, disabling all [SourceDisksFiles.3790] was brute force for testing.

mr_smartepants wrote:

No, the RIS driver is active. The monolithic driver is the RIS driver.
The regular OS driver was disabled.

LAN 10.05.1: Can you include RIS driver only at BartPE?

Does BASE support this:
at windows mode: include L\B3, exclude L\RS
at BartPE mode: exclude L\B3, include L\RS

Re: [SLVD] Bug HP NC373i & NC373T drivers

cdob wrote:

Does BASE support this:
at windows mode: include L\B3, exclude L\RS
at BartPE mode: exclude L\B3, include L\RS

That's already implemented (sort of).
The drivers in L\B3 are signed, L\RS are not.  Therefore during normal XP setup, the drivers in L\B3 will be favored over RS.
In BartPE, L\B3 is excluded for XP:

[B3]
; BartPE Code
ms_count	 	= 1
ms_1_tag 	= "B3_Proliant"
ms_1_sysfile 	= "bxnd52x.sys"
ms_1_exc_skipIfOS="wxp"

Is the problem being caused by the 2003 server entries?  If so, then changing the line to read: ms_1_exc_skipIfOS="wxp,w2k3"
should fix it.

Congratulations, clever approach.

Just wondering: if driver signing policy is disabled and RIS driver is newer than normal drivers:
which driver does PNP load?

Yes, I think so.
ef creates BartPE using 2003 server files.
Hence finally RIS drivers and regular driver are included.

Thanks, I like this. Should work.
@ef please verify this at real hardware.

Setup will still assign a trust "rank" to each matching driver.  Unsigned drivers will always be "Driver node not trusted, rank changed from *** to ***" in setupapi.log.  You taught me that trick! wink
Then setup will use whatever driver it can find that is "trusted" with the highest rank.  Regardless of the driver signing policy.

Ah, yeah, if he's using 2003 files, I'll need to adjust the .ini to block that too.  I'll update the next DriverPack LAN rc.

Re: [SLVD] Bug HP NC373i & NC373T drivers

Unfortunately it didn't work, same error "Unable to install network adapters".

I downloaded and unpacked BASE 10.06 in my \plugin\DriverPacks.net folder .
Also I downloaded both DP LAN 10.05.1 and DP Mass Storage 10.06 in the \plugin\DriverPacks.net\BASE\DriverPacks folder.

Then I modified the DriverPack_LAN_wnt5_x86-32.ini file to read

ms_1_exc_skipIfOS="wxp,w2k3"

I ran DPs_Base.exe:
- the "UpdateChecker" confirmed both BASE and those 2 DriverPacks were up-to-date
- "Location" was set as the \plugin folder
- "Installation platform" was set as BartPE
- both "DriverPack LAN 10.05.1" and "DriverPack MassStorage text mode" were checked (DriverPack MassStorage was greyed)
- slipstreamed - OK

Re: [SLVD] Bug HP NC373i & NC373T drivers

Hi,
did you have any chance to set a fixed DP_LAN to test?
Thank you.

Well, I was hoping it was fixed in the 1007 final.

I wasn't aware that DP_LAN 10.07 was released.
May I test the latest stable 10.07 or should I use the latest nightly?

Use the stable 1007.

Re: [SLVD] Bug HP NC373i & NC373T drivers

Thank you, I will test it and let you know.

P.S. Do you know that the MS IE SmartScreen reports http://driverpacks.sytes.net/driverpacks/Nightlies/ as being a malware web site?
I tried reporting them it's safe, but nothing changed (at least in my case).
Mozilla Firefox doesn't suffer from this odd issue.

Re: [SLVD] Bug HP NC373i & NC373T drivers

Great, the 10.0.7 stable version worked!
They were detected 2 "Broadcom BCM5708C NetXtreme II monolithic driver" NICs.

Thank you very much for your support!
