Topic: [IMPL] Highpoint RocketRAID 2640x4

A friend of mine recently got a RocketRAID 2640x4 card and I've been having some problems installing XP onto the harddrives connected to it. Since it wouldn't detect any harddrives with the driverpacks slipstreamed I figured that the driver wasn't included in them and added it to the cd with nlite. This way I could see the harddrives and the entire setup ran smoothly, but when it was done XP would bluescreen on startup.

I've had the same problem while adding raid/ahci drivers with nLite before (that setup works, but windows bluescreens when it's done), but I've always been able to simply disable the raid or install to another disk before. So I could really use some ideas as to why it ends up bluescreening in the end.

Here are the drivers if any of you would like to add it to the driverpack: http://www.highpoint-tech.com/USA/bios_rr2640x4.htm smile

Thanks a lot for keeping these driverpacks updated. I've used them for many years now smile

Re: [IMPL] Highpoint RocketRAID 2640x4

Please post your HWIDs too so we can make sure it gets added correctly...

the reason teh machine would boot and then BSOD is because the PnP driver is failing

When you add a driver with nLite you must add both the TextMode and the PnP mode drivers... did you do this?

Did you try useing the F6 / floppy method?

is the blue screen the dreaded 7b?

PS please see Read BEFORE you post in my sig to help us to help you...

I had no idea you needed to add the PnP driver as well, thanks smile Neither me nor anyone I know own a floppy drive, so I haven't tried the F6 method. Unfortunately I think automatic reboot or so was on, so I wasn't able to see what the bluescreen actually said. The screen simply blinked blue and rebooted.

All the driverpacks and driverpacks base are up to date, the cd is an OEM XP SP3 Pro cd, and here is DPs_BASE.log http://files.getdropbox.com/u/51925/DPs_BASE.log

Sorry about the lack on my part of reading "Read BEFORE you post" prior to posting.

Re: [IMPL] Highpoint RocketRAID 2640x4

I had no idea you needed to add the PnP driver as well, thanks

That explains the BSOD when you reboot into WinPE...

Thanks for following up with  Excellent  details!!! I stickied the topic for you!

Have a great day

Re: [IMPL] Highpoint RocketRAID 2640x4

Well the link to download the RAID version of the driver is not working.

I downloaded the non-raid driver, I will add them asap.

Re: [IMPL] Highpoint RocketRAID 2640x4

That's rather odd. I still have the ones I extracted to add to the cd, maybe they can work.
