Topic: [SLVD] QL2300.sys is corrupt During Win2K3 Server install

Hi,

I downloaded the latest driverpack and slipstreamed the files into a BartPE disc for Windows Server 2003.

I'm running the install from a CD-ROM drive connected to a Verari Systems H246 Dual Opteron server. Just after the Bart load screen completes I get an error message stating that QL2300.sys is corrupt and that the install cannot proceed. My only option is to reboot.

I'm not sure if I even need the QL2300.sys file but can someone tell me how to resolve this issue ?

Thanks in advance.

Mark

what version of base what pack version can we see your DPs_BASE.log. what version of PE. did you try building a second disc, perhaps it was a bad burn.

please read "Read BEFORE you post" in my signature to help you to better provide good details.

Looking forward to helping you. Jeff

Re: [SLVD] QL2300.sys is corrupt During Win2K3 Server install

I had exact same issue w/ building a Server 03 disk. It was Base 8.12.4. All latest driver packs. Clean source (OEM original - no SPs slipstreamed and nothing else integrated on disk). Did not finish loading text mode setup, gave same error as mentioned above.

Re: [SLVD] QL2300.sys is corrupt During Win2K3 Server install

Same as above posts: W2k3SP1 as source, UBCD4WIN 3.22, Base 8.05, MassStorage driverPack 9.01. Boot halts for a QL2300.sys corruption.
Using WinXPSP2 as source, I don't have the issue.

Re: [SLVD] QL2300.sys is corrupt During Win2K3 Server install

Excellent details ef... that is the minumum I need to offer support wink
BASE ver, OS ver, Pack ver, and in this case also the Platform ver (UBCD4Win).

I am so glad all three of you reported
However - please note ef's clear, complete and consise details for future reference. That's how it's done...

the problem is obviously in the Mass Storage INI file... should be able to fix it in a jiffy.

Re: [SLVD] QL2300.sys is corrupt During Win2K3 Server install

From QLogic web site:

# For Windows Server 2003 SP2, you must also install Microsoft fixes KB932755 and KB939315 (or later).
# For Windows Server 2003 SP1, you must also install Microsoft fixes KB932755 and KB939315 (or later).

From the readme.txt included with the driver:

NOTE: You must apply the Microsoft Storport update before installing
or upgrading the driver. Windows Server 2003 SP2 (or later)
requires Microsoft fixes KB932755 and KB939315 (or later). Windows
Server 2003 SP1 requires Microsoft fixes KB932755 and KB939315
(or later). For Boot from SAN installation, use the Windows 2003
SP2 first, then apply the KB update.

I will verify the sys file but I strongly suggest you guys download those and integrate those patches. Overflow maybe you could add them to base ?

Re: [SLVD] QL2300.sys is corrupt During Win2K3 Server install

yeah adding an exception for a KB is no problem its designed to9 handle that already much like we did with kb888111

Re: [SLVD] QL2300.sys is corrupt During Win2K3 Server install

I had same with ERD2007.  Just downloaded the driver again from QLogic, overwrite the existing one and also copied the associated DLLs alongside, and error was gone!

So I think something was missing, as I copied the DLL files also into the drivers directory of ERD, the physical .sys file looked identical to the one already present in the driverspack.

Perhaps, you could read the whole post again.

Good find, thanks.

I get:
2003 SP1 QL2300.SYS 9.0.0.2 is a scsiport.sys child device.
2003 SP2 QL2300.SYS 9.0.0.2 is a scsiport.sys child device. That's The same version.

QL2003.SYS 9.1.7.18 is a storport.sys child device.
A manufactuer changed the driver model, but keep the same file name.

2003 SP1:
storport.sys 5.2.3790.1830 dosn't support QL2300.SYS 9.1.7.18.
Hence the missing or corrupt.
A updated storport.sys is required.

KB932755 contains a storport.sys 5.2.3790.2880.
KB939315 contains a storport.sys 5.2.3790.2979.
Booting does work, no more missing ql2300.sys.

2003 SP2:
Default storport.sys 5.2.3790.3959 does support QL2300.SYS 9.1.7.18.
Booting does work, no missing ql2300.sys.

KB932755 contains a storport.sys 5.2.3790.4021.
KB939315 contains a storport.sys 5.2.3790.4121 too.
It maybe a nice idea to integrate storport.sys 5.2.3790.4121 to 2003 SP2.

So I was right big_smile Thanks for the detailled infos cdob. I already with Overflow and I'm sure he will take care of it as soon as he has the chance.

Re: [SLVD] QL2300.sys is corrupt During Win2K3 Server install

http://www.jhouseconsulting.com/index.p … -hotfixes/

The Windows StorPort mini driver (storport.sys) is an interesting case, and makes for a good example of this theory. Functions within it are used by most disk subsystem drivers, such as the LSI SAS and QLogic HBA drivers, just to name two. When referring to Windows 2003 SP2, this has been updated in the following hotfixes:

    * KB932755 contains driver version 5.2.3790.4021
    * KB939315 contains driver version 5.2.3790.4121
    * KB940467 contains driver version 5.2.3790.4133
    * KB941276 contains driver version 5.2.3790.4156
    * KB943295 contains driver version 5.2.3790.4163
    * KB943545 contains driver version 5.2.3790.4173

Re: [SLVD] QL2300.sys is corrupt During Win2K3 Server install

Hi All

Sorry to a bit thick and impatient, is there a work around I can use?
I started to contact microsoft to get the patch but they wanted £249.99 up front for the support charges beofre they would give the patch to me.

W2k3SP1 as source, UBCD4WIN 3.22, Base 8.12.4, MassStorage driverPack 9.01.

Thanks in advance.

Larry

Re: [SLVD] QL2300.sys is corrupt During Win2K3 Server install

[SOLVED] My problem was similar.   Got "ql2300.sys is corrupted" while loading BartPE.
I build the BartPE disc basing on Windows Server 2003 SP1 Enterprise.
I used DriverPack Mass Storage 9.01 with DPs_BASE.exe version 8.12.5.

I solved the problem using NLite to slipstream KB939315 into W'Server 2003.
The build of BartPE that followed the slipstream was healthy.

I did not slipstream the KB932755 fix.

Thank You All for helping me.

Still getting this error, any chance of it being fixed at DP level? where is the offending blighter, so I can work around by cutting it out?!

Re: [SLVD] QL2300.sys is corrupt During Win2K3 Server install

Hi, I'm a newbie here.   I built a BartPE disc and received the ominous "ql2300.SYS is corrupted" message.

I am running BartPE v3.1.10a on a Windows Server 2003 SP2 box (Dell PowerEdge 2850 with Perc 4e/Di RAID controller hosting a RAID 1 array).  This is the same box on which I am attempting to boot with the BartPE disc.

Earlier today, I downloaded the MassStorage 11.01 and LAN 11.01 driver sets from this most excellent driverpacks.net website (thanks!), and followed the instructions to add to the BartPE plugins (DPs_BASE v 3.3.4.0 dated 6/15/2010).  All seemed well; built a new BartPE disc.

Despite the previous (April 13) post of "slipstream patch to source ... done" I am still receiving the "ql2300.SYS" error.

Any ideas?

thanks!

Re: [SLVD] QL2300.sys is corrupt During Win2K3 Server install

It has been our experience that adding the above listed patches cures this issue... are you sure they were integrated?

Alternately this driver can be cut out ... As dave surmized above

by removing it's entry from the MassStorage.inf in the \plugin\DriverPacks.net\MassStorage\ folder.

Re: [SLVD] QL2300.sys is corrupt During Win2K3 Server install

Thanks for your reply.  I had interpreted your post of "2011-04-13 01:13:00" to mean that you had added an updated bit of code to the MassStorage 11.01 release -- and thus the problem was fixed at that level.  I presume that either I (a) misinterpreted said post, or (b) your "slipstream" effort didn't work.

Seems to me that I don't need the ql2300 driver for my Dell Perc card, so I'll follow the suggestion of removing that entry from the .inf file.

FYI, I have added "xxclone" to my plugins, so I think that I can now use the PartPE disc to migrate data from a RAID 5 array to a RAID 1 array.  With drives getting larger and cheaper, I'm gradually migrating from RAID 5 to RAID 1.  I figure that performance will be comparable, but my main objective is higher reliability.  I like knowing that each drive is a fully functional and usable copy.  And fewer physcial drives surely equates to higher overall MTBF for the system.

Further FYI, and perhaps in case anyone has any suggestions, I use "xxcopy" to copy my "data" drives (eg, the "D" drive with user data) over a VPN to another server (which also has RAID 1) several miles away.  This happens at night.  Runs pretty fast.  Is simple.  And the final touch is that I use "fsum" at each to build a complete list of files with MD5 checksums.  An automated script then does a diff of the fsum output on site A against the fsum output on site B, and I can "prove" that my backups work, are readable, and have integrity.

thanks,
john
