Topic: ATI Mobility Radeon on Vista/7

I have a Sony PCG-Z1WAMP1 laptop with ATI Mobility Radeon- I think its 7500 - with XP but I recently installed Windows 7 on dual-boot. Everything works great except for display driver. ATI stopped supporting these a while back, but I read that Vista includes a driver for the Mobility Radeon 9000 that many Vista users had success with. Can anyone w Vista email me the 9000 driver, or know where I can get them? it would be greatly appreciated! (apparently, Vista also included a 7500 driver, but most users had issues with this driver).

Re: ATI Mobility Radeon on Vista/7

i tried to install the drivers from the link, but they did not work.

i wanted to make sure i was clear on my first post - i want the vista drivers for windows 7 - not the update to the xp drivers.

apparently vista has it on the install, i just can't find a place to download the drivers from. any other suggestions?

Well, to be fair, Win7 is beta.  M$ themselves said that driver support at this stage is experimental.  Nvidia is quoted as saying their driver included with Win7 should be used instead of the 181.20 download.  I'm sure ATI is no better.
With that old hardware, ditch both Win7 and Vista and go back to XP, you'll be much happier.

Re: ATI Mobility Radeon on Vista/7

overflow - understood, that's all i'm looking for, either a link or suggestions to another approach.

mr_smartepants - y, i know w7 is in beta - but i like it so far - and it runs smoother than xp even w/o the updated ati driver. i just thought if i could get the 9000 vista driver, or another one that works, it might improve the performance slightly. worth a shot!

thanks for the help, hopefully i'll figure out something or someone else might be assistance.
