Re: [REL] [x86, 32 bit] ALL DriverPack's Repacked

I got the file, will put it on the official 3rd party DriverPack host now...

EDIT: Done, see first page for link.

Also, please do not use RS.com (especially if you are not a premium user, as it will only allow ten DL of the file before it gets blocked) for uploads or other OCHs.
We have the 3rd party DriverPack host for a reason wink

Did you update your pack with SamLab 8.12 monitor pack ?

Btw, I updated the Graphics PhysX and Languages.

Re: [REL] [x86, 32 bit] ALL DriverPack's Repacked

tnx smile
new rules RS bored me sad

2JakeLD
yes i compare my October pack and 8.12, update and correct, but in SamLab pack are 40-50 new drivers, that are not in my pack, cause i not see them at official vendors pages, if somebody give me links, i update it smile

ps: heh, are DP_Graphics_B_wnt5_x86-32_8121.7z and DP_Graphics_C_wnt5_x86-32_8121.7z broken?

Erik, he can't see it because he's not a Tester and has no access to that forum (I presume).

I'll c&p Stu's report:

I know about the Changelog??.txt files, but the *.XLS files ????

Looks like a problem with a 3rd party file.

Also, the "D" folder was present, but I had the following error show up:

C:\D\3\B\D\4\1483\NETDSLH.PNF Could not be removed etc.

Able to remove "D" folder after reboot.

Re: [REL] [x86, 32 bit] ALL DriverPack's Repacked

What a problem? i dont inderstand... .xls files? Just delete them when u integrate pack in distributive, if u not need them

Re: [REL] [x86, 32 bit] ALL DriverPack's Repacked

Guys... I'm a little confused trying to follow this thread post regarding the above noted XLS files so if I am posting in the wrong area feel free to correct me. I just finished two installtions on a Vostro 1000 with a disk that I just integrated all the latest driver packs and the latest 3rd party sets including the monitor pack.

Installation 1 left me the D folder as well as the txt and xls files noted above... I re-ran the finisher and rebooted and the D folder was gone
Installation 2 left me with just the txt and xls files noted above

Are the xls and txt files supposed to be there?  I did search for answers before I posted... sorry if I missed any posts...

Re: [REL] [x86, 32 bit] ALL DriverPack's Repacked

If u talking about this:
C:\D\3\B\D\4\1483\NETDSLH.PNF Could not be removed etc.
than go to Broadband pack, may be problem is in there
If u talking about .txt and .xls, I delete them after integrating in distributive in \OEM folder.

Us2002 wrote:

Here's the problem.
When you posted your monitor dp, people think it's a final because you didn't mention that it's a nightly.  Having changelogs & worksheets included in the DriverPacks are normal for nightly builds, but NOT for final builds for just this reason.
If it's a nightly or beta build, then say so.
The new DriverPacks file names must follow the format listed here:

OverFlow wrote:

Format is [Y] Y.MM [. [V] [versiontype] ]

Y.MM and YY.MM are main versions and finals.
main versions will likely be released at the first of the month since any subversion will be newer.
Single digit years must begin with a 7, 8 or 9.
IE 08.12 is identical to 8.12  =  _wnt5_x86-32_0812.7z and _wnt5_x86-32_812.7z

V is a Subversion.
A subversion is always newer than its main version
IE 08.12.x is newer than 08.12 = _wnt5_x86-32_8121.7z is newer than _wnt5_x86-32_812.7z
a subversion is the 'V' in YY.MM.V
- The Version value is only one place / character long.
- The only valid values are numbers 1 through 9.
- sub versions are compared if the main versions match for two files.
- a main version with only a subversion is a final yy.mm.v or yy.mm  = final

Versiontype
there are four types
1 Nightly
2 Beta
3 Release candidate
4 Final

1 A nightly is any Number that follows the sub version number
IE  8.12.11 or 8.12.1   =   _wnt5_x86-32_81211.7z a nightly is older than _wnt5_x86-32_8121.7z     a final
     8.12.11 or 8.12.130 =  _wnt5_x86-32_81211.7z a nightly is older than _wnt5_x86-32_812130.7z a nightly also

2 A beta has a b in the first location past the version and may or may not be followed by a number (zero assumed).
IE  8.12.11 or   8.12.1b1  =  _wnt5_x86-32_81211.7z a nightly is older than _wnt5_x86-32_8121b1.7z   a beta
     8.12.1b1 or 8.12.1b30 =  _wnt5_x86-32_8121b1.7z a beta  is older than _wnt5_x86-32_8121b30.7z a beta also

3 A release candidate has an rc in the first location past the version and may or may not be followed by a number (zero assumed).
IE 8.12.1b or    8.12.1rc1  =  _wnt5_x86-32_8121b.7z a    beta is older than _wnt5_x86-32_8121rc1.7z  a release candidate
8.12.1rc1 or 8.12.1rc30 =  _wnt5_x86-32_8121rc1.7z an RC is older than _wnt5_x86-32_8121rc30.7z a release candidate  also

4 A final will never have any versiontype values included wink

8.12.1rc30 or 8.12.1   =  _wnt5_x86-32_8121rc30.7z  a Release Candidate is older than  _wnt5_x86-32_8121.7z   a final

Re: [REL] [x86, 32 bit] ALL DriverPack's Repacked

EDIT: I didn't refresh my cache so the delayed post I made below was out of sequence and already answered above

EDIT 2: I did a 3rd install and the D: folder was properly deleted so I consider this to be a "one of" and won't over think it wink

Since the D folder didn't remain the 2nd time I will try a 3rd install to see what happens but it obviously should not remain after the finished installation so my real question is regarding the .XLS and .TXT files... I have never seen these before so I am wondering if this is a problem with a driver pack or is this something new that is meant to be left behind.

As far as deleting them after the completed install: since they are in the root C:\ I'm not understanding what you mean by "I delete them after integrating in distributive in \OEM folder"

Re: [REL] [x86, 32 bit] ALL DriverPack's Repacked

edit... -> @compstuff
When the guys are trying stuff out they like to have notes with the files.
the files are used to make sure we don't have ten drivers in the pack for just one monitor wink
We strip these files out for any final editions...

edit... -> @all
they are also a flag to the team that a non Testing Team member has been getting into the cookie jar wink
and why my versioning tutorial was referenced wink
edit... -> So people can learn to spot them and so someone could contribute thier own with less confusion.

If we look at the guide it is obviously a nightly y.mm.v7
one digit past the subversion, a 7 in this case. i would have gone with the day of the month (04) that way i can tell how old it is from the version type. wink

edit... -> the next paragraph is intended as advice for anyone wishing to post a pack....

the Point is MOST PEOPLE don't know It is a TEST or a 'Nightly' unless we tell them
- when we put the pack up for testing wink            edit...-> then we should CLEARLY state it is a Nightly!
- see this stuff ain't as easy as you thought... tongue

It is normal that you will find some of these types of leftovers with our Nightlies.
(usually in C:\  but %SystemDrive% is not always C: )
By shareing these files it prevents the people working on it from duplicating duplication of duplicated work.

Re: [REL] [x86, 32 bit] ALL DriverPack's Repacked

I continue to learn more and more as I use the pack and actually I have been using the packs for at least a year but I'm not an avid poster here... more a quiet observer and active researcher... whereas I'm pretty active at RyanVM forum so now I will try to provide more feedback here as I do my latest integrations.

THANKS for everything and trust me I know much better than to think any thing on here is easy smile

Re: [REL] [x86, 32 bit] ALL DriverPack's Repacked

the  'see this stuff ain't as easy as you thought...'  comment (the entire paragraph)
was aimed at anyone who announces / provides a new pack. wink
(not aimed at you - sorry for my not being clear)

I wish to encourage people to create packs... I also wish to help them to do it well wink

We have a huge lurker audience here... thanks for tipping the scale the other way a bit ! big_smile

Are you using dp_base ? You need to put them in the "3rd party DriverPacks" folder.

Its not that things dont get installed its that the entire thing crashes while trying to use them which i really dont understand. I test by using VMware Workstation since i dont have a proper test rig for testing purposes (i wish i did!!!)

I will try them again and report back here with more detailed info about the problem and what happens guys.
