Switching AHCI regimes in the BIOS is
In AHCI-mode hardware ID - ...VEN_8086&DEV_2828
In compatible-mode - .............VEN_8086&DEV_2829
C System, installed in AHCI-mode is not loaded into compatible-mode and vice versa. Error code - known ...7B
That is, to put in a system compatible-mode, and then the driver (like many recommend) and reboot, use the SATA controller normally does not work!

Please use the last chipset pack else you got masss storage up to date and outdated chipset drivers which is non-sense.

The table further note: ICH8 contains 2 SATA devices (for desktops). ID SATA devices depends on the mode selected RAID BIOS and what opportunities exist in the components ICH8.
