Re: Graphics A 8.09rc4 for testing purposes (REPORTS wanted)

I am using dp graph 8.04 (mobility radeon inf modified by Mobility Modder) and all works ok, nvidia and ati... ATICCC installed too, but I'm using other driver integrator and I can't to say noyhing about it...

Re: Graphics A 8.09rc4 for testing purposes (REPORTS wanted)

Catalyst 8.6 drivers have been released. It seems they bring a lot of new features, performance improvements and bug fixes.
http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catal … radeonx-xp
Will they be included in this upcoming version of the Graphics A pack?

Re: Graphics A 8.09rc4 for testing purposes (REPORTS wanted)

I'll be rebuilding all three graphics DriverPacks (A, B, C).  G_A will be first since it's the most often used one.  G_C will be next because it's been neglected.  G_B will be last.
I'll be rewriting some of the code in mobility.inf with fixes for the HD2400 series cards.  I also just got back from my trip yesterday, so I'll be spending time with my family.
You can expect updated DriverPacks hopefully by the end of the month.

Re: Graphics A 8.09rc4 for testing purposes (REPORTS wanted)

changelog in catalyst 8.6 is interesting.

sad
((.. unresolved issues with via and other hardware like SiL 3112.. We should look up if nForce chipsets are in their changelogs as well.))

The answer was 42?
Kind regards, Jaak.

Re: Graphics A 8.09rc4 for testing purposes (REPORTS wanted)

8.6 stinks! Broken Overlay and DXVA for VC-1 media! Already a hotfix out for it (it does MUCH MORE than update support for the 4800 series).

My advice, use the hotfix driver for nightlies and wait till 8.7 is out to release an official DP.

Re: Graphics A 8.09rc4 for testing purposes (REPORTS wanted)

Thanks fragbert i keep tellig people newer is not neccessarily better... ususaly they are not, at least not initialy

stable is better than current any day!

(let some other poor SOB be the guinnea pig for the beta an let him deal with the bugs
When it's stable then we add it.)

i thinkk it is like bragging rights to some of these bozos... I got the latest driver I RULE!... Uh no you got a broken PC. LOL

ps i have yet to have a device run any faster because i updated a driver. "If it Ain't Broke Dont Fix It!"

Re: Graphics A 8.09rc4 for testing purposes (REPORTS wanted)

Well, 8.6 is built into the latest nightly (8.06C).  Lets see what pops up during testing.

Yes, the problem was the same for both the official and test pack.

Cool! I am looking forward to test it smile

Changed:
A1\
Added BartPE code to .ini per Overflow request
  Updated to Catalyst 8.6, DriverVer 06/02/2008, 8.501.0.0000
Removed old WDM directory, supported by G_B\A5\WDM
Added GART & SMBus driver to AVS directory
Added HDAudio driver (for HDMI enabled cards)
Changed DPFinisher .ini to include exception for GART installer
N1\
Added BartPE code to .ini per Overflow request
Updated to version 177.35, 06/09/2008 (WHQL)
(Officially supports the new 200 series cards, but inf modified to support all cards)

The nvidia additions really need testing since I'm using the newer 177.35 drivers which are only WHQL for the newer 200 series cards.  Technically, the majority of their other cards are only supported by the older 175 series drivers.
Let the testing commence!

What pops up? The same crap. DXVA wont enable, high definition content encoded in VC-1 is blank, and overlay is broken.

I can confirm that the 4800 hotfix driver (a completely separate, fully functional driver for ALL radeons) fixes my issues for my 3870: http://support.ati.com/ics/support/defa … onID=35298

Eh eh, I have already downloaded them yesterday, I check the nightlies and 3rdparty directories on a daily basis smile In fact I was wondering how come the 806C hasn't been announced... anyway, I am going to test it asap.

Re: Graphics A 8.09rc4 for testing purposes (REPORTS wanted)

DP 8.06C works fine, but on videocards with 175 drivers maximum 100 Hz, with 177 - 75 Hz sad but is on the official drivers 177 too! this problem in drivers, not in DP!

Worked on Windows 8.1 Pro

Re: Graphics A 8.09rc4 for testing purposes (REPORTS wanted)

Thanks SamLab for confirming the fixes for me. smile
Fragbert, so you can confirm the problems (and solutions) you're talking about?  I mean REALLY confirm them.  Not just "I have this friend..." confirmation.
If so, then I'll include the hotfix files.

My problem is that I find it very hard to believe that ATI would release their monthly milestone drivers, only to follow up with working drivers as a "hotfix" three months in a row.  hmm
Either ATI is exceedingly stupid, or this hotfix is ONLY intended to fix the problems related to the KB article.

From my perspective, these "hotfix" drivers are beta.  We don't use beta software.
Quote from the KB article:

Note: This driver is provided as is and is not supported by AMD. It has not completed full AMD testing, and is only recommended for users experiencing the particular issue described above.

I should need to explain no more...

Re: Graphics A 8.09rc4 for testing purposes (REPORTS wanted)

I tested DP Graphics A 806C: unfortunately this problem still persists.

You're right...hotfix it is then.  Unfortunately, that will break driver signing for some notebooks.
What about AVIVO?  Does anyone use that?  I could add it as a finisher exception.

krige, I'll look a little more deeply into your issue.  I thought for sure this release would fix it. sad

My advice would be to wait for 8.7 in July for making an offical DP. I notice that nightlies are more liberal with unsigned betas, so I and all the other guinea pigs can certainly test the beta hotfix DP for you until then...
