Topic: [SOLVED] Intel 82566DM-2 Gigabit Ven_8086 Dev_10BD

Trying to restore LAN Driverpack 805 to a Dell Optiplex 755. The Intel 82566DM-2 driver does not come up. I found the PCI Device ID (10BD) in inf in the C1, I1, I2, R1, SU2, SU5, and SUA folders.

Is anyone else having this issue?

P.S. For those who have helped me before, remember that I'm using a completely unsupported method of deployment wink (BartPE, Sysprep, Scripts)

Thanks all!

Re: [SOLVED] Intel 82566DM-2 Gigabit Ven_8086 Dev_10BD

I suggest you remove all folders you mention except I1 and repack.  Could you provide the exact HWID using save_hwids.exe in my sig ?

Re: [SOLVED] Intel 82566DM-2 Gigabit Ven_8086 Dev_10BD

Can do. Is there a way to separate the drivers so that I do not have to remove the rest? Or is that what someone who knows what their doing will attempt to do after I provide the HWIDs? I would love to help any way I can. Will have the HWIDs as soon as this thing finished imaging wink

Thanks Jake

Re: [SOLVED] Intel 82566DM-2 Gigabit Ven_8086 Dev_10BD

Keep in mind that when a HWID is duplicated in different INFs, the 1st one in alphabetical order will be picked during PnP discovery during CD install/sysprep. So most likely we make sure that there is no dupe or general HWID, else you get the wrong driver installed. (If your very lucky you can get a good one, but I would not bet on that)

So by keeping only the I1 folder and removing the other folder you mentionned, you make sure you get the proper driver installed. Still I need the HWID of the device to analyze and find a proper solution.

Re: [SOLVED] Intel 82566DM-2 Gigabit Ven_8086 Dev_10BD

Hi Dan
I downloaded that file and added the driver in \i4\
(I looked if it were possible to merge, and see there are some specific settings and extra REGISTRY settings that are not same when compared to the intel reference drivers.)

I4\ hwids were then pruned

Re: [SOLVED] Intel 82566DM-2 Gigabit Ven_8086 Dev_10BD

Thank you!
Is there a live pack so that I can get my boot disks up to date, or will I have to wait for the next release? Unfortunately we have quite a few of these Dell 755s on their way in.

Thanks again Jake and Jaak, you are always life savers!

Re: [SOLVED] Intel 82566DM-2 Gigabit Ven_8086 Dev_10BD

In trying to incorporate the new 8051 drivers with the /i4/ folder into a BartPE disk, the driver will still not load. I can not test the driver on the machine if I can not boot to it haha. I'll try to remove some of the other drivers. Does anyone have this same issue with the 755s? I'm going to try to take the SYS and INF from a working 755 and inject it into the folder for i4 on my Bartpe disk. Maybe it just doesn't like the full driver? (This process got it working on WinPE (LANDESK)).

Re: [SOLVED] Intel 82566DM-2 Gigabit Ven_8086 Dev_10BD

/I1/ seems to have the same file names all around. Could I4 completely replace I1? Conflict?

And BartPE has some trouble coping the drivers to the disk. Trying to add them manually.

Re: [SOLVED] Intel 82566DM-2 Gigabit Ven_8086 Dev_10BD

Dan,
you could try this..

unzip
RENAME the INF files in i4\.
move the renamed INF files into I1\
delete i4\ folder
recompress.. test

The answer was 42?
Kind regards, Jaak.

Re: [SOLVED] Intel 82566DM-2 Gigabit Ven_8086 Dev_10BD

or, simply rename the INF files in I4\ and repack

if this works, then DELL's proprietary set is still complete

The answer was 42?
Kind regards, Jaak.

Re: [SOLVED] Intel 82566DM-2 Gigabit Ven_8086 Dev_10BD

From what I can tell (for what little that counts for wink), the I4 has all the same files, so I'm replacing the I1 with I4 completely, and adding the files to BartPe by hand (hopefully in the right places). Testing... I can try what Jaak suggested if this does not work. Someone else also sugested:

Posted by: amishbill Dec 7 2007, 10:20 AM

I just had success building this driver into Bart from an XP Sp2 base. (to work with Dell 755 systems)

After removing all the Intel wired ethernet drivers from my Drivers/Net folder, I downloaded the drivers titled "Intel® 82566 Gigabit Ethernet PHY, Network Adapter Drivers for Windows* 2000, Windows* XP, and Windows Server* 2003". The link will probably die, but http://downloadcenter.intel.com/confirm.aspx?httpDown=http://downloadmirror.intel.com/4275/a08/pro2kxp.exe&agr=&ProductID=2775&DwnldId=4275&strOSs=&OSFullName=&lang=eng is the page I pulled the file 'pro2kxp.exe' from.

I didn't see any option for extraction only, so I started the installer, copied the Pro100, Pro1000 and Proxgb folders from my profile's temp folder into the Bart Drivers/Net folder, then canceled the installer.

I can probably rip out a lot of extraneous content from those three folders to slim things down, but for now this has allowed me to load drivers for Dell 755 network cards. :-)
LINKED FROM:
http://www.911cd.net/forums//index.php?act=Print&client=printer&f=20&t=18197

This did not work. Trying to build with only I4. No other drivers.

Re: [SOLVED] Intel 82566DM-2 Gigabit Ven_8086 Dev_10BD

Hi,
the files are different because DELL's have another version.
(they also had immense overlap, and I don't want to risk a proprietary load a generic when we have a reference driver for that.)

8.05.D (internal name 8.05.2a)

http LINK REMOVED

New
B4\ Broadcom Netlink Gigabit 02/24/2008,11.7.1.1 (JakeLD)

Updated
AT2\ Atheros L2 from 08/21/2007,2.5.6000.5 to 12/21/2007,2.5.7.9 (JakeLD)
I1\ Intel PROSET from 13.0 to 13.0.1 (JakeLD)
M\ Marvell Yukon from 04/04/2008, 10.57.3.3 to 04/29/2008, 10.60.6.3 (JakeLD)
R3\ Realtek RTL8168/8111 01/03/2008,5.686.0103.2008 (same file version but more hwids supported) (JakeLD)

Changed
Removed I2\ and I3\, now inclued in I1\ (JakeLD)
Moved I4\ to I2\ (JakeLD)

I2\  (DELL proprietary) after update in I1\ and made corrections.
--------------------------
When you test this file, please do us a favour and test this 8.05.D.. as is.
Then please move the DELL***.INF files from I2\ to I1\ and then delete I2\ and test that too..

Re: [SOLVED] Intel 82566DM-2 Gigabit Ven_8086 Dev_10BD

I will check the new pack. As a side note, I got BartPE to work with the old /I4/ (Dells version) when I changed the INFs to the Manufacturer:

[Manufacturer]
%Intel% = Intel

This enabled the BartPE builder to include the files in the driver and build correctly. Is this something that could be done so that it builds in BartPE correctly for those of us who use it? Or will this cause issues.

Testing New Pack...

Re: [SOLVED] Intel 82566DM-2 Gigabit Ven_8086 Dev_10BD

Checked the pack, does not work with I1, or when I move the dell*.infs into I1. It did work for me when I removed I1 completly. There must be some conflict with I1 and I2. Maybe I2 should be named I1, and I2 into I1. So that the 755 picks the correct driver first? Trying this.....
-------

Does not work. Only works when I1 does not exist. (and the Manufacturer key is changed)

Trying to over write all files from I2 and putting them in I1. Maybe? haha. <<This didn't work either>>

Is there a way to completely take out the HWIDs from I1? >>

Re: [SOLVED] Intel 82566DM-2 Gigabit Ven_8086 Dev_10BD

Wow. I got it.
In the e1e5132.inf and the e1e6032.inf I removed all the lines with the generic HWID for the card. "... PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_10BD"

This generic entry with no SubSys entry was detecting the Dell card in I1, and not letting it detect in I2. By removing the generic non SubSys entries in both INFs in I1 it let the detection go through to the I2 and find the correct entry for the SubSys, and installing with the Dell files.

Again, I had to remove the Manufacturer information in the Dell INFs for BartPE to include the driver in the build.

Next stop seeing why my 755 is Crashing when booting haha. <<Fixed, was an SATA settings in BIOS>>

Hope my day of pounding my head against the desk has a positive outcome for the driverpack project wink

I will continue to test until I'm completely through the imaging process with the 755s and will report to this thread. <<Testing my Modified 805D on the full image next>>

The generic in reference intel overruled that DELL specific?

Re: [SOLVED] Intel 82566DM-2 Gigabit Ven_8086 Dev_10BD

I feel like I'm posting an awful lot on this thread haha.

I just tried the image I finally got to take on the 755 with the 8051 (with the I1,I2,I3, and I4 folders), and it worked fine. The issue I was having was with bartPE it seems. Windows was able to distinguish between the drivers.
I will try another test with my Modified 805D pack and see if it works as well in sysprep/XP.

(I assume everyone would like the driver packs as BartPE friendly as possible for those of us crazy enough to use sysprep wink)
