Topic: [BUG] Promise SATA300 TX 4302 not recognized

Hi!

I have a Promise SATA300 TX 4302 controller. (This should be the same as TX 4 - only two of the ports are eSATA)

I have built an UBCD4Win 3.06 with updated Bâshrat the Sneaky MassStorage Plugin 7.09.2 enabled. When I boot with this CD, my SATA hard drives are not recognized. The mass storage controller in the hardware manager is also not recognized.

I also built an UBCD4Win 3.06 without Bâshrat the Sneaky plugin, but installed the Promise SATA drivers using the usual BartPE method (SCSIAdapter directory). This works.

PCI ID of my device: PCI\VEN_105A&DEV_3D17&SUBSYS_3D17105&REV_02\4&3B1D9AB8&0&3840

From TXTSETUP.OEM:

From the PCI IDs I would guess Bâshrat the Sneaky drivers should work. But they don't.

Also to mention: The vendor supplied drivers from the install disk gave me a BSOD. Only the updated version from their website worked.

Would be glad if TX 4302 could be supported - so I could keep one universal UBCD4Win.

Quick question:  Did you activate the textmode function of the driverpacks?

The reason I ask:  I had trouble with a Promise 80378 controller (non-RAID) not being recognized and ended up installing windows to my PATA drive until I added the textmode setting...

Welcome to DriverPacks.net

Is the MassStorage plugin enabled when you check the plugins from PEBuilder?
(if only the base is present then you need to hit config button and then the refresh button.)
The plugin comes compressed to save space and needs to be configured from pebuilder to add and enable it.

please also post your base version as well as the pack version when asking about BartPE

and... if the plugin was enabled already
lets see your \plugin\DriverPacks.net\MassStorage.inf
did your build have errors?
did this hwid show up in your txtsetup when you use the plugin?

please wait to declare this a "bug" till we do some checking.
we have yet to find a single bug in the year this has been out.
"Promise SATA300 TX 4302 not recognized in BartPE"
would be better since we report bugs elsewhere.

I’m having the same problem.

I just bought A Seagate Free Agent Pro 500 and a Promise SATA300 TX4302 PCI card.  On Tuesday I have to backup a 136 Gig raid 5 array to swap out the drives for bigger drives. 

I downloaded the latest:
PEBuilder 3110a
Reatogo 240
Base 7052
MassStorage 711

I have made hundreds of PE CDs in the past.

I ran DP Base
Selected Bart PE
Pointed the directory to the path
Made sure text drivers was checked
I had it slipstream using DP base
I ran Reatogo 240 and checked the Config and 2 entries and there for Driverpacks.net:
Driverpack Base
Driverpack MassStorage

I thought it was because I use Reatogo 240.  I created a new PeBuilder directory using PeBuilder 3110A
I used all new downloaded files

Same thing

I then I downloaded the driver from Promise and I ran it with the MassStorage plugin.  It still would not see the controller.

I need got this fixed by Tuesday night, I don’t want to use USB2.0 to ghost 136Gigs of data up and down.

I’m gonna keep working on it.

try disableing base / mass storage plugin and adding the driver manually.

It sounds like this is within your ability. smile

Does it work?  if it doesnt work by itself the problem may not be the plugin but a problem with the driver itself.

@jaak -he said the new driver didnt work - however we dont know HOW he added it.

well, where are the updated drivers?
This morning, ...promise.com/support/ ... was a mess.

hmm, just got the file.
We have the HWID for this one in \P7, but it is another model.
The 4302 driver has only one HWID, and systemfiles are different.
In other words, we will probably have to kill support for that other model if we add the new one..

I will upload a pack shortly, so he can use it.

HWID pruning will not work  why? since it only has one HWID cant it just be added?
or will driver signing be an issue...

the HWID for that other model in P7 was pruned, and TX 4302 was then added.

Oh, Mass 711 should have adressed the HP378 issue already.

The 712 testfile  added an adaptec aar88xx , added the Promise tx4302, and an update for adaptec 320 scsci.

I'm trying the test DP and getting this error:

I had no time to run a basic test, and I had forgotten to rename the ulsata2.sys to sata4302.sys in \PB.

This Promise TX4 T4302 is not working anymore.

HWID: Promise STAT300 TX4 PCI\VEN_105A&DEV_3D17&SUBSYS_3D17105A&REV_02\3&267A616A&0&58

The HWID is comig up as a TX4 but it is a T4302.

HWID in Device Manager in Vista:

You had it working in previous DriverPacks but I'm using:

Im creating a BartPE disk. When I boot from the CD or Thumbdrive The Promise card has no driver.

I'm still working on getting the Promise STAT 300 TX4302 working with the Latest DPBase & MassStorage driverpack.

I got the driver working by
Running DPBase and making the plugin containing, MassStorage, LAN, WLAN.
running BartPE Builder.
Then I copied:
ULSATA2.sys
Ulutil2.dll
UlSATA2.Inf

to where they belong.


Ulutil2.dll
UlSATA2.Inf
dont exist in the BartPE directory.

Im thinking that is why it does not work.

I'll keep working on it.

you need to add the F6 drivers into a subfolder of the \Drivers\ folder and let the builder add them for you wink
manualy adding them will not work

These drivers are in the MassStorage driverpack.  For some reason the DLL & INF are not being copied during BartPE build. Also ULSATA2.sys
new version does not work. I can manually copy the 3 files after the BartPE build then use Bart PE to create the ISO.

This works but it should work from the MassStorage driverpack.

That's fine. A massstorage driver dosn't require *.inf or *.dll at BartPE.

Yes this worked. I did not copy the INF or the Dll and rolled back to "SATA300TX Series Windrv 1.00.0.39"
and I'm able to see the hard drives attached to the Promise card.

I'll just have to remember to manually roll back that driver when I make my BartPE disk.
