Topic: SIS 965L/182 on Fujitsu Siemens Esprimo E5600 BSOD

Hi,

i'm new here and in this driver world.  Having trouble with SIS 965L or maybe it's is SIS 182 RAID controller. I've prepared cd and after txt portion of setup, reboot, Press F6, F2, bang! BSOD with 7B.

Having sucessfully installed 2 laptops with sata controllers and 2 pcs with ide controllers I'm unable to get this one installed.

As I mentioned the PC is Fujitsu Siemens ESPRIMO E5600, and on their site drivers' name is SIS 965L, I dont know if it's the same drivers as SIS 182 RAID Controller.
How to find out what is the right driver and how can I manually integrate this driver with my installation?

This is one of about 100 computers here that we would like to install using unattended cd with driverpacks.
Any help would be really appreciated.

P.S.
HWID says 182 RAID controller but I still get this BSOD with 7B.

Edit1:
Found out that without integrated Driverpacks(usual xpsp2 cd) It doesn't go to BSOD. Is there a conflict with drivers/HWIDs maybe? If it's so, how can I find that out and close that glitch?

Edit2:
I have rebuilded the xp with latest driverpacks and disabled the [SI-1], [SI-2], [SI-3] and [SI-4] sections in the masstorage ini file. That helped. There is definetly some conflict here.
Thanks.

One quiestion, is it possible to edit the 7z files after the slipstreaming process has ended. I f.ex I want to enable these SI-lines again without slipstreaming again?
Haven't anyone waken up yet?:)

Re: SIS 965L/182 on Fujitsu Siemens Esprimo E5600 BSOD

hi
disable SI-1 and SI-2
leave SI-3 enabled because that one has driver for SIS 182

When the update in SI-3 came along, I originally had disabled these two because of the overlap (duplicate HWIDs) in INF files.

One quiestion, is it possible to edit the 7z files after the slipstreaming process has ended. I f.ex I want to enable these SI-lines again without slipstreaming again?

This would not work, there are other things like changes to dosnet.inf and txtsetup.sif.
To redo a slipstream takes 15 minutes
unzip,
edit the INI, (you could delete the two entries, but you better simply disable by setting the "drivercount"  to zero in those two.)
save, 7zip the INI and D folder
use it to slipstream over the one you did before. (2 to 3 minutes)
burn CDRW, 6 minutes
test (it is unattended, have a chat with girl at the coffee corner)

The answer was 42?

Re: SIS 965L/182 on Fujitsu Siemens Esprimo E5600 BSOD

oh, if you used QSC, delete that folder when you edit a pack and reuse it with an unchanged name.
(If version check finds a higher nunber, the higher number would be used for QSC. If version was unchanged, you would be using the UN-edited files..)

Re: SIS 965L/182 on Fujitsu Siemens Esprimo E5600 BSOD

Hello, used uploaded 7072 test2 on source files from last try.

It goes through the F6,F2, loads the drivers, Enter, F8 to accept the license. It comes up with empty list of Harddrives to install to. If I press any key a BSOD with 0x8E appears.

With clean xp cd it works as it should.

I'll try to rebuilding the whole disk and report back on the status.

Re: SIS 965L/182 on Fujitsu Siemens Esprimo E5600 BSOD

Hi Grub3r,

IMHO, it is impossible to have all three drivers present
It is probably not even a good idea to have TWO.

let us look at what was in mass 7.04....

The oldest one [S-1], says 181 only
; SiSRaid.INF
DriverVer=07/19/2003,5.1.1039.1070
[SiS]
%PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_0181&REV_01.DeviceDesc%=SIS181PCI,PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_0181

the second one [Si-2]
(SISRaid.INF)
DriverVer=05/03/2005,5.1.1039.1090
[SiS]
%PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_0180&REV_01.DeviceDesc%=SIS180PCI,PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_0180
%PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_0180&REV_01.DeviceDesc%=SIS180PCI,PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_0181

and it has [Si-3] (has this since Mass 6.08... I see the overlap is disabled.)
SISRaid2.INF
DriverVer=01/05/2005,5.1.1039.2030
[SiS]
;%PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_0180&REV_01.DeviceDesc%=SIS182PCI,PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_0180
;%PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_0180&REV_01.DeviceDesc%=SIS182PCI,PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_0181
%PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_0182&REV_01.DeviceDesc%=SIS182PCI,PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_0182
-----------------------------

the newest available drivers I downloaded..
(folder 180OB  has exact same SYS and INF as folder 964-180)
DriverVer=05/03/2005,5.1.1039.1090
SISRaid.INF
[SiS]
%PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_0180&REV_01.DeviceDesc%=SIS180PCI,PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_0180
%PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_0180&REV_01.DeviceDesc%=SIS180PCI,PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_0181
so, we had those already..

folder 965 has this (different SYS)
SISRaid2.INF
DriverVer=01/11/2007,5.1.1039.2110
[SiS]
%PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_0180&REV_01.DeviceDesc%=SIS182PCI,PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_0180
%PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_0180&REV_01.DeviceDesc%=SIS182PCI,PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_0181
%PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_0182&REV_01.DeviceDesc%=SIS182PCI,PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_0182
%PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_0182&REV_01.DeviceDesc%=SIS182PCI,PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_1182
and as you can see, there is full overlap..

If that other guy had not said that he still wants the old ones, I would completely remove them old ones.
But, I've no reason to not believe him.
(Still, the files were still in the pack, which CAN cause PnP problems?)
Anyway, I think that having two or three for same HWIDs in the Pack is a bad idea.

One possible solution is to sfxzip the folder content along with a TXT for its INI section and put that in the folder I think we do not want to use.
That same sfxzip solution could be used for drivers where different BIOS in a card makes it need another driver version which has all same HWIDs.
I need to discuss this with the project leaders, tho..

Re: SIS 965L/182 on Fujitsu Siemens Esprimo E5600 BSOD

the earlier TEST version had...

[Si-3]
SISRaid2.INF
DriverVer=01/11/2007,5.1.1039.2110
[SiS]
; disabled %PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_0180&REV_01.DeviceDesc%=SIS182PCI,PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_0180
; disabled %PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_0180&REV_01.DeviceDesc%=SIS182PCI,PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_0181
%PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_0182&REV_01.DeviceDesc%=SIS182PCI,PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_0182
%PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_0182&REV_01.DeviceDesc%=SIS182PCI,PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_1182
(in the INF) and the INI only had 0182 and 1182)

and [Si-2]
[SiS]
%PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_0180&REV_01.DeviceDesc%=SIS180PCI,PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_0180
%PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_0180&REV_01.DeviceDesc%=SIS180PCI,PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_0181

[Si-1] was removed in the test.

and... it still had a problem.
That is why I started thinking about the sfxzip (That, and the silicon Image BIOS problem)

Re: SIS 965L/182 on Fujitsu Siemens Esprimo E5600 BSOD

The file had to get another name.
Base extracted it, but the OEM folder still contained a long filename.
(we solved that once.. Is that bug for testers Back? Whatever was after last underscore was still in that name, so it was too long for 7zip. )

contains same drivers as mentioned in that txt with changes
(log is telling you what is different compared to the released version)
(there were some instructional txt changes for the SFX stuff)

method of SFX's inside releases is not approved
testlink pulled..

Re: SIS 965L/182 on Fujitsu Siemens Esprimo E5600 BSOD

Hi again,

Now I have tested this new sfx3 and it doesn't work. As it uploaded and with this change:
;[SI-2]
; Disabled! Si_2.exe 7zipSFX in folder \Si\2. Conflicts with Si\3

[SI-3]
; If you disable this section, keep only Si_3.exe 7zipSFX in folder \SI\3
; If you enable this, disable Si-2 section and keep only its 7zipSFX in \Si\2
ms_count=1
ms_1_deviceName="SiS 180/182 RAID Controller"
ms_1_tag="sisraid2"
ms_1_sysFile="sisraid2.sys"
ms_1_hwids="PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_0182,PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_1182"
ms_1_isBusExtender=false

You had hwids for both 180 and 181 when the inf file has those disabled . It didn't help to remove these hwids either.

When I changed ms_count=0 and let the windows load the driver it goes through without bsod.(maybe it's siemens)

Xp self recognizes the raid controller so I think I just disable the SI-1->SI-3 sections in the ini file.

Anyway thanks for the try and nice project.

Wait a minute...

When installing from xp cd the driver does not appear in device manager, it doesn't even gets as unknown device. It's not there at all. When I install drivers from drivers CD that came with the computer I get this driver:

When installing with disabled SI-1->SI-3 and all other drivers integrated in unattended installation the device gets recognized and comes up with latest driver from you. 11.01.2007/5.1.1039.2110

How is that. Ohh.. maybe the only portion that does not work is the text installer for RAID drivers, those are copied together with the rest of the drivers and get installed at the graphical portion of installer.

Re: SIS 965L/182 on Fujitsu Siemens Esprimo E5600 BSOD

what you are saying is,
all SiS drivers disabled during TXTmode, and then it gets picked up by #2110

Q; But why does it come up with BSOD when the same driver is used in graphical portion of installer?

the answer to that?
1, the drivers cannot co-exist on the CD.
2, the 2030 was the one that got updated to 2110

now IF you used the nightly. but DID YOU?
then answer 3 is> version 2110 wont do it in TXTmode.

Did you try that nightly?

Re: SIS 965L/182 on Fujitsu Siemens Esprimo E5600 BSOD

Just Tried the nigtly,
it comes up with BSOD right after F6 and F2 and loading of txt drivers.

There is no problem in disabling the sis drivers, those will be installed later in device installation portion of xp installation. Those come up with 2110 as you were saying yes. Maybe it's at all not necessary to have those implemented?

I'm getting BSODs until I disable sis driver in masstorage ini file. Currently using 707.1 and it works fine. If I use your driverpacks, I do NOT have to run the siemens CD to install RAID drivers on the computer. The RAID device is recognized by windows installation(together with driverpacks).

will mail you the siemens driver later today.
