Topic: Bug 8125 slipstreamer windows install NO drivers

Hi guys,

First off, thanks a lot for the excellent product this is.
I have used it many times in the past, but im having troubles after downloading the new version.

1-I installed all hotfixes with nlite before running driverpack.
2-When I ran driverpack to integrate the drivers, no errors were found.
3- Xp install fine, but NO DRIVERS AT ALL ARE INSTALLED

Only the textmode hdd drivers work, since I am able to install on chipsets I normally couldn't, but when windows logs on for the first time, i see that video is using standard vga, no sound, no network, even the HD controller installed is the standard one.

I don't know what happened, but this log and ini I have were created after I tried using KTD, which I don't want to use anymore, but I did use it the last time I got the installation to work perfectly.

Can anyone help me ?

Re: Bug 8125 slipstreamer windows install NO drivers

Welcome to DriverPacks.net
I added the code tags to your post for you. wink
Do you have a DPsFnshr.log file at the root of your C:\Windows\ directory after installation?  Can you post the content into two posts (too long for a single post)?
Also, you should not enable the KTD option.  It is old and known to cause some problems.  Set it to "None"

Re: Bug 8125 slipstreamer windows install NO drivers

Hi!
I've got the same Problem (no Drivers will be installed) with:

- using only the latest official Final Driverpacks / DP-Base release
- I also tried using latest Nightly DP-Base "DPs_BASE_100306.exe" i've found (same error)
- Running "DP_Install_Tool.cmd" manually after the Installation works.

Details: Im running the Driverpack-Finisher from a Batch-File ("%SystemDrive%\DPsFnshr.exe") during the first Boot (I'm using that way succesfully for about 2 years I'm building my Unattended XP-DVDs). KDT is not in use!

Edit:
I only tried KDT in my first of three tries building a DP-DVD.
Interesting, when using KDT: All Drivers will be installed automaticaly after removing the Devices from the Device-Manager. So i think it's something in the Driver-Installation Section.
Edit End:

I uploaded the Log-File to MediaFire (from my second try using the Nightly DP-Base), hope it helps.

DPsFnshr.log: http://www.mediafire.com/?jxyhmtiz5ni
DPs_BASE.log: http://www.mediafire.com/?1hlzldnnmwn

Can help with some testing?

Best regards!

Moscha

P.S. Thanks for your hard work on this excellent project!

Wow how lucky me, someone with the same problem!

I checked and after the installation there is no DPsFnshr.log file at the root of my C:\Windows\ =[

Re: Bug 8125 slipstreamer windows install NO drivers

My build did not extract the drivers during setup process.

Re: Bug 8125 slipstreamer windows install NO drivers

You both use GUIrunonce for DriverPacks Finisher.  That requires an entry in winnt.sif.  Nlite is known to overwrite winnt.sif with it's own values.
Can you both post your winnt.sif contents (without your product key, obviously)?

Re: Bug 8125 slipstreamer windows install NO drivers

Did any of you make changes to your source after DriverPacks was installed?

@m0scha try slipstreaming again this time eliminate all 3rd party DriverPack except graphics languages, graphics Physx, and runtimes. PS if you are installing .net with an update package (like sereby's) then DO NOT include the runtime 3rd party DriverPack.

@others Logs are required for support... DPs_BASE.log, DPsFnshr.log and (for this type of error) your setupapi.log. Without your logs we can't help you

I integrated DriverPack's in the last turn after UpdatePack by Petya V4sechkin and addons.

Thank you so much for the attention guys, I hope Im not giving you too much trouble.

I did not make anychanges AFTER DriverPacks.
Before however, I slipstreamed SP3 into an SP2 xp, then used nlite to slipstream all sp3+ updates excluding media player and internet explorer updates (if I include those, neither ie and wmp work after windows install).

After DriverPacks, i included my own copy of winnt.sif to the i386 folder and used nlite to create the iso.

I will post my winnt.sif and other files requested in my next posts.

again, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR HELPING and for the EXCELLENT PROJECT.

I just now noticed that I left out the Driverpack finisher, but that could not be causing my drivers not to be extracted during setup could it ?

I was looking at the last dvd I burned, and there is no oem folder on it. just the $oem$(which i use it).
I will check the other dvd 2 I had created that did not work also.

I just now noticed that I left out the Driverpack finisher, but that could not be causing my drivers not to be extracted during setup could it ?

Exactly right! the only thing that could cause that is a missing dummy setup.ex_ and or missing / corrupted presetup.cmd.

Again did you change anything after you installed DriverPacks???
waht is the MD5 checksum on setup.ex_?
does presetup.cmd exist?

Re: Bug 8125 slipstreamer windows install NO drivers

@tarcis,
Try this:
1. Use nlite to slipstream SP3 and apply whatever updates etc to your source, then when you get to the "build ISO" stage, stop, leave nlite open.
2. Add your own winnt.sif to your source.
3. Run DriverPacks BASE and integrate the current DriverPacks to your source with whatever options you want (no KTD).
4. Use the still open nlite to build your ISO and test.

The golden rule of DriverPacks is to integrate them last, just prior to building the ISO.

I was looking at the last dvd I burned, and there is no oem folder on it.

That would definitely be an indicator of a botched install.  Are you sure you're pointing DriverPacks BASE to the correct folder?

Thats what I am used to do, except that I dont leave nlite open, i just rerun it, on the first run i choose integrate updates, and the second run I only use the create iso option.

Anyway, I will do that right now, and Ill post back logs and results as they come.

Re: Bug 8125 slipstreamer windows install NO drivers

I think this is where the problem is.
I ran DPs_BASE and selected the directory again, double checked all the option and finally clicked INTEGRATE.

It took 3 minutes (kind of faster than it used to), so im looking at my install folder, and there are no driver pack files on it, unless its hidden on i386 or something

I will post the logs now

seems like the new dpsbase is not copying the files to my install folder.
