Topic: Where are the latest betas?

http://dev.driverpacks.thesneaky.com/dr … nightlies/

Pretty empty now, I see some old ones in old nightlies, but usually there's one in the above, so, what's going on now?

Haven't seen a stable release in a long while now.

Re: Where are the latest betas?

We don't use that nightly server anymore because it was unreliable, slow, and non-testers were using them in production environments (not cool).

Re: Where are the latest betas?

im one of those non-testers using them in production environments

so.. since a couple to most of the packs are months out of date, where can i actually get the latest packs, with newest drivers.. particularly chipset, massstorage, audio, lan

Re: Where are the latest betas?

They will be released when they are stable...

We DO NOT want people useing unstable packs in production.
What good is an updated driver if it crashes your machines...
Go with the older drivers that work... that is why we released them, they are stable
We are not about being current if the current drivers are BUGGED... and they are
when the providers get thier sh*t together then we will release them, and not before.

If you ahve an issue with a particular driver then report it...
since you have reported no bugs i can asume they are fine as is.
(having an older version number is not a bug - it's smart - because we don't cause problems for our users.)
we have doezens of people reporting bugs everyday with the test packs... we dont release bugged drivers and we never will.

if you are sad because we dont have any finals then complain to the providers (Please)
If they put out junk that is up to them but we won't pass those on in our packs...

what good is it to have the latest driver if it kills your (or someone elses) machine?
We are not about bragging rights (my driver is newer than your driver)

do you flash your bios on your PC just because they ahve a new version - if you do you're a bonehead
the only reason to do either of these things (new driver or new BIOS) is if You Are Actually Haveing an issue that the new driver fixes.
(please refer to the fact that you have not reported any issues - and therefore don't have any - and therefore an update is not required)

they will be made available to you when they are stable...
I, like you, also hope that will be very soon - but it wont happen until it's reliable.

That is in your best interest... and is why we have the following we have... we are reliable.

Be 'Cool' and don't use betas in production

Re: Where are the latest betas?

What are you talking about -- providers? You mean like nvidia's been releasing bad drivers? Mind giving me an example? Apparently, I'm not well aware of bad drivers by -what providers-. I do understand what you've said about uncool and betas not to be used in production machines. I hope to learn something new about bad drivers

Re: Where are the latest betas?

For instance nvidia nforce4 for intel and for amd use the same file name and share the same hwids which make it impossible to use with sysprep unless you rename the files which breaks the digital signature. We also have manufacturers like adaptec and intel that shares hwids in different drivers. Also, intel for instance drop older hardware support with newer driver for marketing purpose.

Those are just a few examples of bad designed drivers/bugs which we try to fix/avoid with driverpacks.

Re: Where are the latest betas?

ATI Catalyst 8.8 was absolute crap.  I had so many problems getting that garbage to integrate properly we finally ditched it and went back to cat 8.7 until later cats were released.  That's why our dev time is so long between releases, we make sure they're bug-free.
Just because a driver has a higher version number, doesn't make it better.

And don't forget the holy war with nVida mass storage drivers in RAID and AHCI modes smile

Re: Where are the latest betas?

SI 3xxx series were fubar for an entire year...
SI 3112 for example conflicted with its own RAID and AHCI versions...

the list does not stop with these examples they are just a small cross section off the tops of our heads...

Re: Where are the latest betas?

ok thanks for mentioning all that. luckily i don't use those hardware. never got textmode massstorage to work though, had to manually do it usually if needed. looks like im forced to use just dp's LAN/cpu package..

and very good thing, most of the drivers my hardware need have silent switches..

Re: Where are the latest betas?

how did you manage to have trouble getting mass storage to work... {scratches head}

i would love to hear more about your issue - please...

Jesus, Silicon Image and nVidia storage drivers... big_smile

Anyways, you guys are doing a tremendous work here with these packs, especially the mass storage one!
