Yes, that's true.

However I count zero SUBSYS_*&CC_01*.

I don't own a Si3112r, I used VMware instead for testing purposes.

Hi
THANKS for that method of testing the theory.
I have just pulled the &CC_010*  from SUBSYS_*&CC_010* where we did that.

I wonder if you read it, but I once wrote I thought that SUBSYS_* would deal with the "mode", but yes, a few sections got  "mode-tagged" after a SUBSYS_* despite my doubts on that.
You just proved to me that this is invalid.
THANKS.

Re: [BSOD] 0x0000007B Error with MassStorage 7.12 (Si3112r, ATI SB450)

Hi guys, new to driverpacks here, so please forgive the noobness...

First of all, great work on what you've done.  I found it impossible to install Windows on a machine that I have a SATA RAID array in and in which I CANNOT install a floppy drive to include the drivers.  I downloaded an XP iso that had the massstorage driverpack, and it went through the text install just fine!

(note:  I am not pirating windows - I have a full legit version and just found it easier to download an iso with massstorage rather than trying to make one).

Anyway, the version I have is a few months old and I have received the STOP 0x0000007B BSOD upon booting after the text based install.

So I understand I just need the newest massstorage pack, right?

Can someone point me to a guide on how to use these packs and create my own .iso - or even better just PM me a location where I can download everything put together with the latest version (again, I have a fully legit copy of windows already - I'm not asking to pirate)?

Thanks.

Re: [BSOD] 0x0000007B Error with MassStorage 7.12 (Si3112r, ATI SB450)

OverFlow - thanks - I had looked at a few tutorials, but the one in your sig was what I was looking for.  Problem is, a noob like me didn't know what "DP" or "HWID" meant - so finding the right instructions was confusing at first.

Anyway - I got everything figured out now.  I made my own install CD and just tried it out.  Now, during the install I get an error that says "The file aec6260.sys is corrupted" at which point the text install quits.

I have no spent the better part of a week trying to install Windows XP on this computer, and am about ready to call it quits.  You guys are seriously amazing and have done great work, but the very fact that such work is needed just to make Windows XP *INSTALL* on an average computer is the most absolutely #@$#@Ring ridiculous thing I think I have ever experienced.  Microsoft will NEVER get another penny from me and I will continue to encourage my friends to switch to linux or Mac.

Please forgive the anger (it's not directed at anyone here), but my business has screeched to a halt and I have not done a single minute of real work as I've been dealing with this single machine.  I need to do reports and run our accounting software (beginning of the month, and tax season to boot!).  It has turned into a huge fscking joke.

Unless anyone else has any ideas, my next move is to "install" several clip-fulls from my XD .40 subcompact into this machine.

Re: [BSOD] 0x0000007B Error with MassStorage 7.12 (Si3112r, ATI SB450)

I had a similar problem a week ago (corrupted file), cleaned the DVD Reader and everything was fine. Also try putting the PC on it's side and pull the cables from the DVD and put a spare drive laid on the top and try that.

You may also have a bad piece of memory, try Memtest86+

http://www.memtest.org/#downiso
Download - Pre-Compiled Bootable ISO (.zip)

Create a CD and boot from it.

Just a few ideas that may help.

Good luck.

Re: [BSOD] 0x0000007B Error with MassStorage 7.12 (Si3112r, ATI SB450)

Thanks BigBrit for the ideas.

I have made 5 or 6 more install CDs from 3 different XP source CDs - each failing at a different part of the install.  Some would fail or complain of missing files in the text install, and some would complain of missing or corrupt files in the graphic install.

[s]I will pay someone $50 via paypal to deliver to me a working .iso that will allow me to install windows on my computer (I will supply my own key) EDIT: Resolved.  My specific hardware is supposedly the Silicon IMages 3512A and has rom version 4.3.43.  Contact me via IM.

Acutally a SiI3132 example, but there is a full Hardware ID list.
As known Silicon Image offers different firmware files.

catdog6 flashed different firmware and deliverd full HardwareList
http://www.911cd.net/forums//index.php? … p;p=142234

I flashed the firmware with the b7405 and the r7405. Here are the results.

B7405

This HardwareID classify different firmware at this example:
PCI\VEN_1095&DEV_3132&CC_0180 : B7405
PCI\VEN_1095&DEV_3132&CC_0104 : R7405

Can this be used at PCI\VEN_1095&DEV_3112&CC_0104 and PCI\VEN_1095&DEV_3132&CC_0180 too?

What about enhancing 'HWID Tool'? Store 'devcon.exe hwids "PCI\CC_01*"' too?
Some driver inf files use CC_01*.
Knowing full Hardware ID list may get clearer results.
In addition there maybe new solutions possible in future. e.g. use REV_*

Re: [BSOD] 0x0000007B Error with MassStorage 7.12 (Si3112r, ATI SB450)

Burned through about 10 more CDs today with no luck.  If I can even get far enough I still get the BSOD.

I figured out a way to jimmy rig a floppy drive in there to try to load the drivers using the F6 method.  Drivers load okay, installation proceeds, recognizes the drive, and everything looks great.  Upon trying to copy the install files to the drive, I get a prompt to put the "Silicon IMage Sil 3x12 SATALink Driver Installation Disk into drive A:"  When I hit enter, it does not read from the disk or the CD rom, just sits there.  I confirmed with the manufacturer that I am using the correct drivers, XP install just doesn't seem to hold onto them, nor can it find them again.

Hi,
you have the driver on floppy.
(Which version? can you post a download link?)

what can you try?
you can use nLite and integrate ONLY that floppy onto fresh copy of install CD.
Nothing else.
No DriverPacks at all.
Try to get running with that.

I just came across some interesting reading, involving maxtor drives and sil 3512a.

My thinking is that this staggered spinup is messing with you, (what could be the case if you use a maxtor), you should consider another model or another brand.

I spent way to much time dealing with this and went out and got a new computer instead.

Installed XP on the new computer's SATA drive, no problem.

Installed Ubuntu on the trouble computer, no problem.

Everything is working now, and I can finally get some sleep.

I actually made an XPSP3 CD with the newest DPBase Massstorage Drivers ONLY txtmode integration.

When I tryed to install from CD I got this damn Stop 0x000...7B Message.
So I tryed to load the driver from Floppy but I think the driver integrated was newer so that was no solution.

Then I had a look what driverpackbase changes on the CD and did the following.
I copied the contend of my new XPSP3 CD to my harddisc. and removed all entries guiding to the si3112.sys and 3112RX47.sys
I also removed the winnt.sif and the $OEM$ Folder. (just for Info)

I burned the "new" CD and now the Installation works even without loading the driver from Floppy

Re: [BSOD] 0x0000007B Error with MassStorage 7.12 (Si3112r, ATI SB450)

Hello guys, Great site!  I ran into a problem that appears has been solved in reading this thread.  I have an A7n8x-E deluxe MB which has SataLink controller using SI3112r driver.  I'm not using the RAID option. Loaded XPSP3 and I get BSODs.  Rolled back to SP2 and no problems.
Jaak - I realize this is almost 2 years old... but did this driver get updated (see 2-08-08 post)?  I could not find it in the mass storage driver packs.
Thanks!

Welcome to DriverPacks.

Can you post your 3112s HWIDs using the tool in my signature?

did you install useing the DriverPacks?
If so could you please specifiy the version of BASE used to slipstream AND the version of DriverPack MassStorage used.
Alternately post your DPs_BASE.log

thanks for reporting and for useing search to find related issues

Re: [BSOD] 0x0000007B Error with MassStorage 7.12 (Si3112r, ATI SB450)

I didn't install using the Driverpacks; I used what was on the ASUS Utilities CD.
I should note that this computer was running a mirrored RAID setup until a couple of days ago (5+years, minimal problems other than lots of "filler" all over the place.  It needed to be flattened and reloaded.
I did that to only one of the HDD's, the other I haven't touched; i.e. currently the reload is not a RAID setup.

Re: [BSOD] 0x0000007B Error with MassStorage 7.12 (Si3112r, ATI SB450)

You might try updateing the driver either by useing a SIS reference driver
or you could use DriverPacks BASE to create a SAD folder with our DriverPack MassStorage then run DP_Inst_tool.cmd.

The most likely primary cause is your Firmware version on the si3112.
the newest versons of the si3112 driver do not support the older firmware.
It is also possable (I don't remember for sure) that SP3 includes a newer 3112 driver. (that is not backward compatable with your chipsets firmware.)

Re: [BSOD] 0x0000007B Error with MassStorage 7.12 (Si3112r, ATI SB450)

Reloaded SP3 and checked the driver file. Tried to revert to previous version but there was none.  About 5 minutes in, got BSOD with STOP.
I checked the drivers folder - the driver has the same date as original.
One other thing to check- back out SP3 and see if it is stable for longer than 10 minutes (i'll let it go for a few hours).
Next is to get smart on a few terms and use of DriverPacks BASE, etc.(SIS Ref Driver?, SAD folder?). Fortunately not my main machine; unfortunately not enough time to spend on this...
anyway,
Here is what was on the screen:
DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
STOP: 0X000000D1 (0X0000002A,0X00000006,0X00000000,0X748BAFB)
SI3112r.sys - address fF748BAFB base at F7484000, Datestamp 3ed7e3b9.
