Re: Testers needed for new Graphics driverpacks

Dear Gentlebeings,
please remember that these are TEST versions.

Graphics_A_TEST
WHAT TO TEST
-Graphics_A new ATI CCC/ATI CCP install method
-G\A\1 new catalyst
Updated mobility.inf (laptop support)
widescreen support for ati2mtag_M10 (1280x800x60) (on laptops)
-D\G\N\1 Nvidia 94.24
-G\N\5 Nvidia 158.22

Grapfics_B_TEST
WHAT TO TEST
-new ATI CCC/ATI CCP install method.
-new G\A\B ATI Rage PRO 02/28/2002, 5.10.2600.6010
-new G\A\C ATI Rage XL 12/28/2001, 5.10.2600.6009
-G\I\1 intel update to 6.14.10.4833.
-G\I\3 replaced with 6.14.10.4764
-G\I\8 intel restored (an older driver)
-G\M\1\  Matrox (all) updated to v2.04.00.179 SE U, 05/17/2007 (mr_smartepants)
- INI sections for installing Matrox Control panel were added.

Graphics_C_test
new ATI control panel install (A-2, A-6, A-A).

Please don't shoot the pianist.
If you plan to use the new ATI CCC, you MUST have .NET installed for it to work properly..
(I integrate the updated .Net Framework with RVM so it loads before the control panel installer starts)
Tell us what works and what does not work, with some details of the hardware tested on.
Many hours of work went in this.

POST updated for 707.test2

Re: Testers needed for new Graphics driverpacks

Update.
I found errors in the nv4_go.inf file.  I am fixing them and will upload the new test DP soon.
For those interested, the errors are:

[DestinationDirs]
nv.nViewHelp          = 18 ;(files not referenced anywhere)
nv.nViewPanel         = 11 ;(files not referenced anywhere)

These two entries are referenced multiple times under {copyfiles} but don't have any files referenced to them.

[nv4_mobile]
CopyFiles    = nv4.Miniport, nv.Display, nv4.icd, nv.Panel, nv.Help, nv.nViewHelp, nv.nViewPanel
DelFiles     = nv.oldrm, nv.delete.systemfiles
RegisterDLLs = nv.RegisterCPL

I don't know enough about nVidia drivers to remap the files needed for these entries...so I'm just deleting the references.
I've deleted all of those references (they're not in the nv4_disp.inf file).
I hope this fixes all the problems for geforce go users.

OK, cool. I checked the specs on your notebook earlier and 1024x768 was standard but 1400x??? was an option.  That's why I asked.
Glad to hear it worked for you! smile

G_A 7.06 with N\1 Updated from 93.71 to 94.24 is not installed on Medion MD6100 (FID 2040 Notebook)
with NVIDIA GeForce4 488Go. The driver of 10/22/2006, 6.14.10.9371 [93.71] was OK for me.

I used the G_A 7.06 release DP .

Install of NVIDIA driver from N\1 stops with nvcodins.dll file

The G_A 7.06 test#4 version failed also for me !

Yeah, I read that too.
I'm running the new 7.7 Cats on my notebook right now and they're running fine. I already have a new Graphics_A 7.07 test DP built but I'm debating uploading it now after what they wrote.  Well, the improvements I wrote into the mobility.inf file should make it worth it.  If it's crap, we can always roll back to 7.06 test#4 (7.6 Catalyst).
I'm still trying to figure out how to upload to the testing server using this crappy connection.
More to follow.

Re: Testers needed for new Graphics driverpacks

As I wrote in the other thread, my personal experience with the 7.7s on two different machines was far from bad.
While the article does not show any performance gains (which is fine, IMO, you don't need a gain with every release), I cannot share their negativity about the driver set.

I have experienced much worse in the past.
A reason why I stuck to the 5.13 (yes, one of the rare occasions where ATi released more than a dozen a year) for quite a long time, I think until 6.6 or so.

Also, it's not only about game performance, I'm sure you will all agree.

You also have to take a look at the changelog:

¤Call of Duty 2: Setting the in-game resolution to 640x480 no longer results in visual static and interrupted audio during cinematic and within the menus. Further details can be found in topic number 737-28468
¤Google Earth: The fog is displayed in the image no longer has a checkered effect. Further details can be found in topic number 737-28467
¤Neverwinter Nights: Shadows of Undrentide no longer exhibits missing textures on characters under some circumstances on some hardware configurations. Further details can be found in topic number 737-28471
¤Enabling CrossFire™ on a system containing the Radeon™ HD2900 XT no longer results in an error message and CrossFire™ not being enabled. Further information can be found in topic number 737-28188
¤Launching the release notes under the Japanese or Chinese version of Windows no longer results in the release notes displaying a blank page. This issue may also be experienced under the Windows Vista operating system. Further details can be found in topic number 737-26749
¤Pixilated corruption is no longer observed while running the game Prey while hovering over the health packs from a distance on some hardware configurations running Win XP. Further details can be found in topic number 737-27091
¤The system no longer become unresponsive when randomly moving the Video Player window from primary to extended desktop under certain hardware configurations. This issue was known to occur when the second adapter is an ATI Radeon™ X1200/1250/1270 series of product. Further details can be found in topic number 737-27092
¤Corruption is no longer noticed when playing certain DVD titles when hardware acceleration is enabled on ATI Radeon™ HD 2900 XT product. Further details can be found in topic number 737-27624
¤Connecting a TV using an S-video cable and a CRT display device using a dual VGA adapter cable no longer results in intermittent noise being observed when playing a video using the Windows Media Player or a DVD using PowerDVD. Further details can be found in topic number 737-28469
¤Playing a Blu-ray or HD-DVD no longer results in corruption being noticed if several application windows are open and the application windows are dragged around the desktop. Further details can be found in topic number 737-28470
¤Connecting an HDTV using the Component Video connector no longer results in a double image being noticed when pressing the ALT+Enter keys. Further details can be found in topic number 737-28473
¤Jittering is no longer noticed in cinepak video playback when using the Windows Media Player and having the desktop resolution set to 1280x1024 75Hz or higher. Further details can be found in topic number 737-28474

For any non-hardcore gamer (and that's what I consider the majority of the DriverPacks as - pure gamers perfer "modded" drivers anyway, or so I heared...), these fixes are probabaly more important than a 3% gain in some game.

Re: Testers needed for new Graphics driverpacks

I reinstalled again on my main pc and this time 7600gt pci-e detected and working on integrated drivers so it just seems for some weird reason the first time failed, but subsequent installations are fine.

Re: Testers needed for new Graphics driverpacks

I agree with Helmi.
The stability and usability enhancements far outweigh any performance gains (or losses).
The new 7.07test#1 is done.  I rewrote the mobility.inf file from scratch and there are many improvements.  I went through line-by-line and cleared out at least a dozen typos, old references, and duplicated HWIDS (ATI QA should be shot!).
This mobility.inf file should solve MANY of the issues we've been seeing on these boards lately.
I'm still trying to upload, but with the power outages and flaky DSL performance at my current location makes this unbearable.
I'm going to try to steal access to a hardline to the router this afternoon and upload directly.

Erik?
Graphics B test was updated for INTEL section.
Can you link to that?
I used graphics_B_test_4 and did the intel update/fixes in there, and uploaded with new name.

The answer was 42?
Kind regards, Jaak.
