Topic: [SOLVED] Video ControlleDisabled, re-enabling prompts for drivers.

no matter what machine i install my disc on the video controller is initially disabled.

When i re-enable it windows asks for drivers for the hardware.

I have enabled KTD. But it always comes back "Driver not intended for this platform"

As i said, no matter what machine install on this always happens... where am I going wrong?

Re: [SOLVED] Video ControlleDisabled, re-enabling prompts for drivers.

What HW do these machines feature?
Anything exotic?

Re: [SOLVED] Video ControlleDisabled, re-enabling prompts for drivers.

All Dell machines, can't comment on the specific graphic hardware. They are all intergrated GPU's.

Majority of dell machines come with intel GPU's.

If needed I can compile a list of the hardware affected but I should add that this happens on EVERY machine I use the disc on, no matter what the spec.

big_smile thanks

"Driver not intended for this platform"? I've never seen such an error :s yikes

Can you confirm that you did slipstream DP Graphics A and DP Graphics B?

Re: [SOLVED] Video ControlleDisabled, re-enabling prompts for drivers.

I have been thinking that this may be the cause, I use HFSLIP AND nLite.

I'll test my discs minus both to see if they are the cause...

Re: [SOLVED] Video ControlleDisabled, re-enabling prompts for drivers.

Ok, just tested with a disc that hasn't had any other third party applications applied to it.

The Video controller still comes up disabled, Re-enable it says Please re-install driver, click re-install... and comes up could not install hardware "not intended for this platform"...

Re: [SOLVED] Video ControlleDisabled, re-enabling prompts for drivers.

Re: [SOLVED] Video ControlleDisabled, re-enabling prompts for drivers.

Sorry the log isn't there?

Might I add... I am running the driverpacks base exectuable on a vista machine.

Re: [SOLVED] Video ControlleDisabled, re-enabling prompts for drivers.

Has anyone slipstreamed the driverpacks into their XP sources on a Vista installed machine?

I'm gonna try this on an XP installed machine and see if maybe theres a compatibility issue with DPs_base.exe and Vista

Re: [SOLVED] Video ControlleDisabled, re-enabling prompts for drivers.

XP drivers on vista? lol

Re: [SOLVED] Video ControlleDisabled, re-enabling prompts for drivers.

hi
the DriverPacks finisher log is to be found in the machine where the driver fails to install
and it should be in the windows folder.
(it is not a hidden file, but windows will pop up a warning when you open the windows folder.)
look for DPsFnshr.log

your base slipstream log, that is on the machine you slipstreamed the source on.
DPS_base.log
you should post that too..
please use code tags

Re: [SOLVED] Video ControlleDisabled, re-enabling prompts for drivers.

as for vista, I can easily put Vista on one of the machines here, to use it as host..
The repaired machine runs tests anytime I want (using racks and external connections is quite useful... and I do have a pass-throught sata backplate..)

Re: [SOLVED] Video ControlleDisabled, re-enabling prompts for drivers.

note to self, don't load a 64 bit version of vista, 7zip will not work in that,

the x64 version exists, but the one in base, that is probably not gonna work in x64 environment.
(vista, there is a 32 bit environment in x64 versions, I believe, for backward compatibility of course.)

which reminds me I ought to ask what version of vista you run?

Re: [SOLVED] Video ControlleDisabled, re-enabling prompts for drivers.

@ muiz3
I actually have very good knowledge of computers.
I never said I was using XP drivers for Vista...

My machine is installed with Vista....

I modify my XP source ON VISTA...

@jtdoom
The version of vista I'm using is Ultimate.
Thanks for the heads up on where the log file is... I was thinking it was on the machine I compiled the disc on... oops tongue

I'm not at the computers with the logs until monday, so will post them then.

Re: [SOLVED] Video ControlleDisabled, re-enabling prompts for drivers.

hi
I've been kept too busy so gid not yet put Vista on a rig.

another possible cause I thought about, what if Winnt.sif was replaced by sif file user put in after slipstream...

the D folder and DPsFnshr.exe ought to still be on that drive setup was ran on, then.

Re: [SOLVED] Video ControlleDisabled, re-enabling prompts for drivers.

I havn't changed or replaced the winnt file after running DPsBase...

The D folder is present on the root drive along with...

ATICCP
devcon
DP_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32
DPsFnshr
DPsfnshr
DSPdsblr
makePNF
pmtimer

Re: [SOLVED] Video ControlleDisabled, re-enabling prompts for drivers.

oh,
I just read mail..
it appears dpsfnsher exe did not run

lets be adventurous, and doubleclick it in that one..
I'll try figure out if Vista as host platform caused this. (will take a few hours, tho..)
