Testing underway.  Will report back shortly.

EDIT: Either I screwed it up, or there is more to it because it didn't work.  I'll collect up my setup logs and NV4_GO.INF file and post them shortly. sad

EDIT: NV4_GO.INF and setup log here: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?ktmlglmyljr

Also, this looks like the problem in the setup log:

Logs are here:

I assume the changes above are in NV4_GO.INF?

I assume I move A\NM\NV4_GO.INF back to A\N1\NV4_GO.INF?

Moved A\N1\NV4_GO.INF to A\NM\NV4_GO.INF

No change...still doesn't find it. sad

I use RUNONCE, so if I copy mute.exe myself, and set runonce to:

936: mute.exe on
937: DPfinisher
938: mute.exe off

Works great every time.  I have an addon that puts the mute on/off in my runonce, and I forget to include the addon in a recent build...and boy was I surprised when the PC started beeping like crazy. smile

...reminded me that the DP built-in version never worked for me.

I'll make the change you suggest and test that today.

FYI, this has never worked for me.  I still manually mute before the finisher runs.  I recently removed my own muting by accident, and noticed this has never been fixed.  I'm currently using 8.12.5.  Has anyone seen this work?  (Or should I say heard this work...or is it "not heard" and therefore know it works smile )

I'm still happy to debug if someone can point me in the right direction.

Hum...didn't find the following:

PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_029A&SUBSYS_019B1028&REV_A1\4&1C9EC085&0&0008: NVIDIA Quadro FX 2500M

I've never tested this before, so I don't know if it worked with older packs.  It is a laptop, Dell Precision M90.

The download was amazingly fast!

Already tried on my old ATI system and it works! (as expected)

I'm going to load on a few nVidia systems too and will post if any issues (none expected)

Tested DriverPack Graphics C 9.11rc10.  Works great!!!  No problems.

Although not specific to DriverPacks, I wanted to solicit from the team of experts here any comments about USB vs DVD install media and how to do it.

I have always built custom install DVDs, typically using rewritables since I'm always improving them.  It seems that for computers that support booting to USB (most these days) installing from USB would be faster.  Does anyone here have experience that confirms this?  (ie is it only better with specific USB media or specific PCs?)

There also seem to be a whole bunch of "install from USB" instructions on the web, most of which try to be the all-in-one solution that don't follow my desired approach.  Basically, I'm looking to do what I usually do, except instead of creating an ISO to burn, create a USB thumb drive to use.  More specifically, I'd like to:

1) Start with XPSP3 clean
2) Use RVMIntegrator to update
3) Use nLite to tweak
4) Use DriverPacks
5) Make USB install thumbdrive

Is there a good guide out there for just step #5 that doesn't presume some different 1-4?  Is there a guide that really explains what has to happen?  (meaning, some guides just say 'do this, don't worry about understanding it')  I really understand the workings of 1-4, so I don't want to add some voodoo #5.

Thanks for your feedback!

Great news!  I'm ready to test as soon as you have something.

BTW, CCC installs fine for me and works, so the only problem I have is this unexpected reboot.

Just tried again with a minimal install using 911rc9.  sad DPfinisher still doesn't finish.  I've placed my DPfinisher and DPbase log files in a zip at: http://www.mediafire.com/file/xyqzmzeytyd/DPlogs.7z

Any help/guidance appreciated.  If you look at the finisher log, it says it has 2 things to do, but only does one.

I'm guessing we don't have the right switches for the CCC install.  I wasn't paying close attention to the install, but it looked like it installed CCC, and then rebooted, which is probably why the finisher didn't finish.

Since 911rc2 prompted for a reboot, I said no, and everything worked.  911rc2 modified per mr_smartepants' instructions and 911rc9 (which I assume to be identical here) don't prompt for reboot, but I think actually do reboot.

I'm happy to test some different switches so we can get this pack final.  Looks like we just need to get the right switches to resolve this.  Let me know.

Unfortunately, I seem to be able to repeat the DPfinisher not finishing with a minimal install.  I noticed there's a new RC, so I'll download that and try a minimal install with that.

I can't speak for others, but 10MB is noise to me on my DVD.  Once my install moved from CD to DVD (long ago), an extra 10MB here and there stopped mattering.

I always install vcredist, so I guess I have minor concerns that if it is included, it will cause a conflict with the pack I use.  (Conflicts seem to creep in to my installs easily, as is evident in my experience in this thread.)

BTW, CCC starts the first time for me now, so I'm not experiencing the problem you have.  However, my finisher doesn't seem to do anything else after it installs CCC, which then leaves all the junk in my C drive (and doesn't seem to do the KTD I have for my cell phone drivers).  I'm currently trying to debug that to see if it is some other conflict.  When I look in the finisher log, it says it has 2 tasks, then does the CCC install, and that is the last line in the finisher log.  hmm

Success!  Sorry for the false alarm.  You comment about VC++ made me check that, and I think that was the problem.  I guess the old CCC version isn't dependent on that which is why it worked with my big install.  I did a minimal install with 911rc and it worked!!!!!!

Great job solving this!!! Sorry it took me so long to validate!!

(I still had to say no reboot, but that's because I didn't fix that like you suggested.  I assume you've fixed that for the final version?)

I don't mind sharing.  The list is long.  I set it up to do a similar minimal test like I did before, so I should have a simpler answer.
I'm out on travel now though, so I won't see the result until I return Thursday.  I'll update then.

Also, I did notice I had two addon's fail, so perhaps I made a change I don't recall, so maybe the simple test will work.

Reporting back, I didn't do the test I planned, but did what was simpler...I swapped the 804 graphics packs onto my CD and tried again...perfect.  So unless the new 911rc CCC has some different dependency/conflict than the 804 version then it's not my addons.

I'll still try the 911rc with a minimum update pack, but this test doesn't have me optimistic.

My problems downloading were temporary.

During the DriverPacks Finisher, the finisher paused and I got an ATI prompt telling me that I needed a restart: YES=restart, NO=later.  (I chose NO.)  Some installer switch missing?

Then I get and error "Failed to load resources from resource file" and CCC doesn't work.  :-(  I get the error on every reboot and if I try to restart the runtime.

I tested on my standard load with lots of addons, so I'll strip it down to minimum and try again to ensure it isn't one of my addons causing this.

I'll download now.  Will report back soon.

Can you post the location?  Is it: http://driverpacks.sytes.net/driverpacks/Nightlies/

I'm having trouble connecting to that.

Thanks for the update.  I'll be happy to test it at any time.

Go to the Start->ATI CCC folder->Restart Runtime.

Tried that, didn't work for me.

Thanks for your efforts.  I'll happily test rc2 when it's ready.  Since I have a solution for now, I'm not in a rush.  Hopefully my testing has been helpful.

I've also had success going to desktop properties, click the Advanced tab, then CCC tab, "Go to CCC".
I can't remember what those items are actually called since I'm not on my ATI box.

I'll give it a try since it has been a while, but I think I did that in the past without success.

What do you mean "Restarting the CCC runtime fixes it"?

With the latest driverpacks, I don't get the system tray icon, CCC is installed, and running CCC spins the hourglass but nothing happens.  If I'm not mistaken, rebooting doesn't fix this.  But uninstalling the current version, and installing the 804 version (without restart) lets me run the 804 CCC.
