I think the drives messed up.  I can't get it to behave on any PC.  I'll come back when I get hold of another to test.

sorry to use up your time...

Hi mr_smartepants, first off thanks for all the great work you do, it seems to go unthanked far too much.

I'm struggling to load windows on a SATA drive.  But may be its just bust...

I made a new cd with

DriverPack Chipset 1201!
DriverPack Graphics A 1107!
DriverPack Graphics B 1107!
DriverPack Graphics C 1107!
DriverPack LAN 1202!
DriverPack Mass Storage 1201!
DriverPack Sound A 1111!
DriverPack Sound B 1111!
DriverPack WLAN 1202!
3rd Party DriverPack HID 1109r1!
3rd Party DriverPack Misc 1201!
3rd Party DriverPack WebCam 1107!

Which works fine using a PATA hardisk, but behaves very odd with the SATA drive I want to use on the same hardware.  If I remove the PATA disc from system and plug in the SATA drive the whole PC goes on a go slow.  It even takes ages to get into the BIOS.  Here it shows the harddisc but loading windows isn't working, eventually I get to the bit where Windows tries to install but then I get [setup cannot access this disc] and if you press enter it blue sceens with.  Any thoughts?

Hey TechDud, re read your post and understand it now.

Thanks for finding the info.  I had come back from works Christmas Party when reading it last night and didn't realise the PCI / PCIe difference.

UPDATE !!!!

well done TechDud big_smile   Pin 20 isolated and wireless working !!!!!

which beggars the question why can't Microsoft and Toshiba work together properly to provide the software solution

Sorry TechDud, by playing I meant my worn out eyesight and big hands not the info. F8 does allow you to boot to safe mode so its working.

Its not per se a driver pack issue.  Although after 10 hours fighting win 7 I did install Win xp with many driver packs including WLAN 1109! and HID 1109r1! I was in same position everything in device manager happy but could not switch wireless status.  I did not get any toshiba extras to work.  So for toshiba users maybe if this is can be resolved, it may help these users when using driver packs  There seems to be many users who have the same situation I'm in..

Laptop seems in very good condition and doesn't seem to get hot and bothered.  It had a fresh install of windows last weekend using a toshiba disk when I started working on it, all Fn buttons worked (sleep / brightness etc.) but F8 did nothing.  When I went on Win update it updated graphics and wlan drivers, then got SP1.

As I understand it TVAP adds the function button ability.  Flash cards does this as well but allows a popup to give more details of features when Fn is pressed.  When nothing helped I uninstalled the Broadcom card (BCM94312HGM) and drivers and put in a brand new Intel card.  Using an Intel package this gives "wireless disabled hardware radio switch is off"

On this machine F8 does not display in flash cards.  I have tried 3 different TVAP versions none gave anymore functionality.  Its now back running TVAP and Flash cards as reco on the page for this laptop.

The amber wireless enabled light displays for about 3 seconds till windows kicks in then it goes off.  If you check / edit BIOS settings it stays on longer when you reboot maybe 10 seconds and again goes off as windows kicks in.

Thanks for the replies,

Comes as standard with a realtek wlan card and win7  64 bit op sys.  The realtek 801.n card, I presumed was stolen but now I think it just stopped working and was exchanged for the broadcom card.  Now I'm trying to get (either that or) the intel one to work. Both of which have supported tosh drivers here...  http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/wlan/?page=downloads

Its a Satellite Pro L450D

official drivers here   http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/ … mp;search=

cdob; all drivers installed on either win 7 (win update even updated it to later whql drivers and it made no difference) or the other drive with win xp

TechDud; may well play with pin 20, but odd side of card easy to insulate as contact made as you screw the card down, evens would be trickey and likely to displace during fittment.

mr_smartepants; what do you mean with the trouble maker?

Hi everyone, ran out of places to try and find a solution and wonder if I can ask for help here?

I have a Toshiba Laptop that only has a software keyboard switch to enable disable the WLAN using Fn+F8 ... Nothing seems to get this to work.  I even loaded win xp using all the driver packs and everything installed but WLAN still can not be turned on.

I have downloaded all the packs Toshiba recommend and followed the full instructions to the letter (TVAP and Flash Cards etc.)  What really puzzels me is the Flash Cards doesn't even display the Fn+F8 icon ???

I've tried with a broadcom card and its exactly the same.  I've even tried what many linux guys do by insulating pin 11 and or 13 on both the intel and broadcom cards (pin 11 stopped windows seeing the card at all and pin 13 did nothing)  I think it needs a BIOS update but Toshiba have never release one.  Running Win7 ultimate 64 bit.

I would think it was a hardware fault if it wasn't for the fact half the Internet seems to be Toshiba customers struggling to get wireless to switch using the Fn+F8 command.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Hi mr_smartepants, did excatly the same as both previous builds except this time as requested ONLY installed DriverPack Graphics A 9.06

Driver now correctly installed and card calls itself Radeon XT800 XT Platinum Edition ("XT Platinum Edition" part was not displayed before )

driver listed as 8.591.0.0 dated 25/02/2009 and digitally signed.

missed what I was trying to say....    I only only had chip and mass storage in back up.  Where can I get the old graphics A old to test ?

Hi Mr_smartepants, you give amazing support and lightening response.  Thank you.

Unfortunately exact same fault with Graphics C 11.11r1 and these others, in latest build.

Hi mr_smartepants, used all these to build a new disc incl win media centre addon.  Windows installed OK but although device manager shows correct drivers installed for graphics it has tiny yellow? by Radeon x800 listing.  Although could change screen res OK and had 32 bit colour switching to media centre it says unsupported graphics.

wow !!!...  looked for code trying to put this in appropriate style and it wiped all my text out

On the link I gave, it has release notes for 9.3 and yet the recco driver now is 10.2

Which if any of the text they provided there makes sense. 10.2 contained security / critical fixes for devices that functionally gain nothing after 9.3 which makes 10.2 the better choice.

Which if we now go back to what ska had back from AMD that matches...  and 10.2 has bits u need but you can't get it with WHQL

that 9.3 driver bit rang a bell to me.... found this

AMD may periodically provide Windows XP and Windows Vista driver updates (for the products listed above) for critical fixes only.  No new features will be provided in future driver updates.

All future ATI Catalyst™ releases made available past the ATI Catalyst™ 9.3 release will not include support for the legacy products listed above or any of the features associated with those legacy products.

Hi not sure best way to post my two points,

I found some new drivers http://www.comprousa.com/en/download/tseries.html  for VideoMate T Series TV Card win 7, vista and xp, WHQL drivers 25 Mar 2011

But also have a question on third party packs.  How do I use them?  Looked through tutorial and didn't glean any help.  It appears as if any appropriate packs sit in third party folder it just adds them.  But how do I know they got integrated correctly as log file appears to noticed their existence but never mentions the <SLIP>?

Do you also integrate the modem Third Party DriverPack?  That file is in the modem pack in \D\3\M\P and \D\3\M\Z4

no never have... don't even have a modem to need it in any PC I own

Took advice and started again.... got myself in a muddle twice and now run out of energy to test anymore...  But have added most of the other addons but left out MCE for the moment... I can report a happy marriage with all these driver packs and latest One Piece update pack

thanks very much for all the great work u guys do....  and have a very happy new year

Hi Guys, not sure where to post this.

I was trying to add media center to XP pro but used the wrong tool to integrate and it didn't work right... BUT windows loaded and the DP packs I added seemed to work with exception of the graphics card not recognised.

(by the way seems the "details links" on the individual driver pack listings to see whats in the packs is a bit??? goes back to list of packs not the details of whats in each pack).

Next time I added graphics C as well and now this is installed OK BUT although sound is recognised as cmedia device its now no longer loading driver.  I had other errors and it was suggested an inf was causing the issue....   tried to look where suggested but couldn't understand what they said... but did find this error in install log

12/30/2010 18:50:22.984,d:\xpsp\base\ntsetup\syssetup\syspnp.c,1608,,SETUP: SetupOpenInfFile() failed. FileName = mdmchipv.inf, Error = e0000100l log

when I did a quick search this might be a modem driver (but I don't have one installed).  So was it an addon that broke stuff or is there a minor gremlin using all the DP I did ?

sorry can't find where/how to shrink the text in sections.....

then

then

then

using nlite 1.491   added

Ricks_XP_to_MCE05_enOCT09.7z (I may have renamed it and some others below but I used last version available)

back to using RVMIntegrator v1.6.1 beta2.1 then added all these in one go each of these

On install of windows....no hang up or error messages

drivers packs all working
media centre working
taskbar shuffle working
adobe 10 working
qlite working
java shows up
defraggler working

BUT MISSING

No start menu option for IE
No quick launch or desktop icon for IE (works if u add it)
No quick launch show desktop (works if u add it)

NO control panel extras completely missing (Kels_CPLBonus_v11.6)
NO right click image resizer option (ImageResizer-Powertoy-v1.2_OrcoXP.cab)
NO hashtab
NO ccleaner
NO WinRAR
NO dvd shrink

I have used everything before and always worked on versions where I did not have media centre addon BUT that was before I used the latest OnePiece pack with all dot net built in.
The day before I did the same but used Rvmi to add media centre because Rick's instruction not to use it are on page 4 or somewhere, this failed to install media centre but windows loaded OK and hastab I think was there and working, pretty sure dvd shrink was there but isn't now and ccleaner was definitely missing in both.
