Hey guys! I've been trying to sort out my motherboard swap from intel to amd with windows 7 and I can confirm that Fix_HDC.cmd does work!! with one modification

simply edit the fix_hdc.cmd file and right down the bottom delete the two lines:

Thank's for report. Yes, it may work by chance at special cases.
However this is not supported. And will fail at other cases.

Instead use Fix_7hdc.vbs to fix a windows 7.

Which hardware do you use? Which Toshiba Satellite do you use?

And post the HardwareID list.

Which XP files do you use? Vanilla one or modified?
Are any third party drivers integrated already?

At this time there is not a DVD drive in the new system so a boot to Win7 is not possible.

Then copy Windows 7 files to a USB drive. Boot from USB.

booting from a Win7 DVD would require a complete installation of the operating system so I could run the Save HWIDs program.

Boot to first install screen, press shift F10 to open command prompt. Run the Save HWIDs program.

I have no idea what you are refering to: Do you use a PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1D02&CC_0106.

Does your Intel mass storage controller uses HardwareID PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1D02&CC_0106 at AHCI mode?

The web site link is in Germany - I do not read/write/speak German.

Use a translator software:
core statement: a current iastor.sys works at X79.

Problem resolved - drive connections moved to ASMedia SATA 6Gb/s connectors, BIOS changed from IDE to SATA,  boot from flash drive, XP setup/install detected drives/partitions.

Congratulations, this is a nice work arround.

Hopefully this solves the issue with x79 chipset and XP installing in AHCI mode.

What about x79 chipset motherboards without adddional mass storage controllers?
How to use the chipset controller in that case? No, issue itself is not solved so far.

Intel Rapid Storage Tech v3.00.2.003.
\Driver\Disk\32bit and another is \Install\Drivers\AHCI\x32.
They both have *.INf files that I'm assumng provide all the necessary information needed.

Driver *.inf does support 2003, XP is excluded.
Driver iaStorA.sys is a storport.sys child driver. Storport is supported at 2003 and up.
Driver iaStorA.sys fails at XP because of missing storport.sys.

HardwareIDs would be nice really.
Do you have a Windows 7 or 8 DVD? Can you boot and extract HardwareIDs?

Do you use a PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1D02&CC_0106 ?

It seems iastor.sys 10.8.0.1003 works at X79 hardware. But you have to adjust install files.
http://www.win-lite.de/wbb/board202-win … ktivieren/

Adjust DriverPack_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32.ini (try iastor* 10.8.0.1003 and 11.0.0.1032).
And adjust relating *.inf file.

Which virtual mass storage controller do you use?
Post the HardwareIDs.

Can you clarify 'initial startup of the system'?
Which screens do you get?

I understand: you get a BSOD "Ftdisk.sys - adress..." at a virtual machine.
Which mass storage controller do you use inside virtual machine?

And there is a machine with a nvidia controller, hence not the virtual machine.
What happens at real machine?

Which wlan cards did you used?
Do you use general replace hardware?
Do you use a wlan card distributed by toshiba?
Does toshiba uses a special firmware?

Did Fn+F8 worked in the past?
Did you replace wlan card only?
Fn+F8 is not part of wlan driver. That's a addional software. Did you reinstall windows in the meantime?

Which custom 1U server Unit do you use?
Which driver does recommend 1U server Unit manufacturer?

Name full HardwareIds.
A common PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_27C3&CC_0104 refers to common hardware.

How many hard disks do you use?
Do you require RAID configuration?
Can you use IDE or AHCI at BIOS?

Ask Nvidia driver author why a strange approach is choosen. http://www.nvidia.com

There is a registry testing approach at DriverPacks.net testing section.
I doubt access given to a compromised bug... account.

http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic. … 557#p46557
Can you ask a admin to get a private account and access to testing section?

bugmenot wrote:

well, after updating i cannot move the file, seems like its still mounted to the registry?!

The last line "reg.exe unload HKLM\loaded_SYSTEM" should unload registry file, hence not mounted anymore.

Run regedit.exe, does exist a hive "HKLM\loaded_SYSTEM" ?
Unload the hive.

bugmenot wrote:

what does the update do?

Adds a registry setting for driver nvgts.

you want me to burn a new disk with the updated setupreg.hiv and then try to install on that laptop, right?

Yes, this would be nice.
Be aware, that's a intermediate step. Text mode only so far.

Does your i386\txtsetup.sif connect the HardwareID to nvgts6 ?

Try update setupreg.hiv http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic. … 325#p30325

Does textmode part detect a hard disk now?

bugmenot wrote:

I even cant find a log on the dvd itself

Search files at hard disk, at machine you created the dvd.

HWID will follow on Friday,

That's nice.

Can you get a personal account in the meantime?
A bug... account may result confusion and isn't very trustworthily.

I have been using SARDU since, which lets you build your own XP PE, much like UBCD4win, using your own source

This must sound like me promoting that soft by now, eh?

Which SARDU do you use?

http://www.sarducd.it http://reboot.pro/14768/ dosn't build a PE, it's use a existing PE.
Main purpose is to build a multi boot environment. A PE is one possibility.

Another PE distribution example:
neosmart did distribute a PE for free in the past. And got contacted by the legal department of OS manufacturer.
A licensing fee is required today.
http://neosmart.net/blog/2011/windows-r … einstated/

This emphasises OS manufacturer opinion: PE distribution is possible within certain limitations.

Some commercial software manufacturer distribute a PE too.
Testing version dosn't include a PE. The PE is distributed within full version.
Example: Backup & Recovery 11 Home 30 Days Trial
No WinPE-Recovery CD included in the installation package.
http://www.paragon-software.com/uk/downloads/demo.html

Overall PE redistribution is a difficult, unclear part.
OS manufacturer opinion may match or fail local laws. There is confusion without court rulings.
I trust a commercial software manufacturer to redistribute a PE legally.
And I distrust other sources, especial H...
Of course this general approach may be true or false at a special case.

Most likely it's warez still.

Use InfCacheBuild in addditon.
Or use RIS inf files.

Which BIOS setting do you use?

Dosn't a GA-M52L-S3P use a GeForce 7025/nForce 630a chipset?
A Asrock N68C-S UCC use a GeForce 7025/nForce 630a chipset.

And, if it's IDE emulation mode, why XP CD doesn't see my HDD without any "help"?

A XP SP1a CD detect a SATA hard disk at N68C-S UCC at IDE emulation PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_03F6&CC_0101.
BIOS offers IDE or RAID only. No AHCI to select.

Previous approach fails, if default XP drivers dosn't detect hard disk.

Does a BIOS/chipset use PCI\CC_0101 and is not compatible to pciide.sys?
