Updated! v8.2.3.1001

The 177.41 work great with all cards according to forum @ guru3d - mr_smartepants used the default inf that will only work with certain cards.

Use this instead: http://www.mediafire.com/?keinlz4cz29

Best update pack ever made. Better than ryan (sorry to say), and best of all, updated frequently.

177.41 with a modified .inf works great for all nv4

You're right...hotfix it is then.  Unfortunately, that will break driver signing for some notebooks.
What about AVIVO?  Does anyone use that?  I could add it as a finisher exception.

My advice would be to wait for 8.7 in July for making an offical DP. I notice that nightlies are more liberal with unsigned betas, so I and all the other guinea pigs can certainly test the beta hotfix DP for you until then...

Thanks SamLab for confirming the fixes for me. smile
Fragbert, so you can confirm the problems (and solutions) you're talking about?  I mean REALLY confirm them.  Not just "I have this friend..." confirmation.
If so, then I'll include the hotfix files.

My problem is that I find it very hard to believe that ATI would release their monthly milestone drivers, only to follow up with working drivers as a "hotfix" three months in a row.  hmm
Either ATI is exceedingly stupid, or this hotfix is ONLY intended to fix the problems related to the KB article.

From my perspective, these "hotfix" drivers are beta.  We don't use beta software.
Quote from the KB article:

Note: This driver is provided as is and is not supported by AMD. It has not completed full AMD testing, and is only recommended for users experiencing the particular issue described above.

I should need to explain no more...

Well, 8.6 is built into the latest nightly (8.06C).  Lets see what pops up during testing.

What pops up? The same crap. DXVA wont enable, high definition content encoded in VC-1 is blank, and overlay is broken.

I can confirm that the 4800 hotfix driver (a completely separate, fully functional driver for ALL radeons) fixes my issues for my 3870: http://support.ati.com/ics/support/defa … onID=35298

http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6438

One word - WOW!

8.6 stinks! Broken Overlay and DXVA for VC-1 media! Already a hotfix out for it (it does MUCH MORE than update support for the 4800 series).

My advice, use the hotfix driver for nightlies and wait till 8.7 is out to release an official DP.

After some investigations on the official 13.01, I found that the generic HWID (PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_10BD) of your card was duplicated in e1e5132.inf and e1e6032.INF.  They have their respective SYS file as well.

Yes, noticed this right off the bat on the official ones - wheras the old 10BD instance would not install on Q35's and would throw an unsigned driver on a 965 and x38 board.

How did you come to the conclusion that changes are actually NEEDED? There have been multiple instances of identical HWIDs in DPG_B for a while now, specifically with the Intel GMA folders, however have you actually seen a conflict where the wrong driver is installed? It is my understanding that this unorthodox method is by design to satisfy these stingy OEM instances of intel GMA, like on Dells for instance.

This still pops up on microsoft update using v805

(again this works on all IDT/sigmatel intel boards, not just the three they list)

.

Released a while ago on station drivers, but not on intel.com - however when it gets released by dell.com for their servers, that means "official" smile
