HWID for problem nic:
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_10DE&SUBSYS_027F1028&REV_02\3&172E68DD&0&C8: Intel(R) 82567LM-3 Gigabit Network Connection
So I tried using the same driver within an existing install of XP, and it worked perfectly. I don't have much experience troubleshooting driver related issues in bartpe. Anyone have something I can try?
I have an optiplex 760 machine that I am trying to get network working in a bartpe boot cd. I have the latest version of the LAN driverpack.
It appears that the correct driver is included in the driverpack, but that it is missing the DeviceID necessary for the driver to work is not in the INF file.
I did a comparison of the INF file in the driverpack to the one included in the driver from Dell and I noticed that in the [Intel] and [Intel.NTx86.5.1] sections the following is only in the Dell INF file.
; Dell
%E10DENC.DeviceDesc% = E10DE.5.0, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_10DE&SUBSYS_02761028
%E10DENC.DeviceDesc% = E10DE.5.0, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_10DE&SUBSYS_027F1028
When I get a chance I will try to install the driver with and without the lines above in the INF file on the same machine with XP installed to see if it works.
I would appreciate any tips or ideas to help me get this working.
is there some solution now round? sometimes the sound packs get updated.. then it works a long time again.. and sometimes soundpacks get updated and it stops to work..
hdaudbus.sys not found.. then you point to \i386 folder and it goes further... sucks a little bit
I've been seeing this issue as well. For now I just change where the system looks for the windows cd as a workaround.
hi, todays release ought to fix this.
I gave it a shot today, and I'm having the same weird issues with the HDAaudio bus not completely isntalling. To help remedy this I have been running the following command on the first boot into windows.
RunDll32.exe Syssetup.dll,UpdatePnpDeviceDrivers
Then I run the driverpacks finisher after another reboot.
This works ok, except that it prompts me for the hdaaudio.sys file. I'm not sure why it is prompting me for this because I checked and the file is already in C:\windows\system32\drivers\hdaaudio.sys. If I select the previously mentioned file the rest of the install goes great and I get audio.
I'm completely bewildered as to why this is happening. I have tried this on a freshly created install with the ryanvm update pack + wmp11 + DriverPacks. Nothing really special done to the install other than that.
This morning I tried using the newer driverpack that you wanted me to test on a laptop with the same sound card. The install would lock up whenever I included the newer version. Unfortunately I cannot get any useful information from the crash since it completely locks up the comptuer. I will post the HWID's for the laptop tomorrow morning.
DPsBase will slipstream KB888111 if it detects it was not yet slipstreamed by RVM.
You say you slipstreamed it yourself?
How?
I used the /slipstream switch with the installer. I know that this patch is supposed to be included in the RVM update pack but i was having issues with it not working correctly, if at all.
Can you look at SVCPACK.IN_ in the i386 folder? uncab it, and look at it in an editor.
If svcpack.INF can be read and mentions the KB, it ought to be well?
I checked the SVCPACK.IN_ (mine was actually SVCPACK.INF, but that shouldn't make a difference) and it is indeed mentioned there, and the file that it references in the SVCPACK folder is there.
There's also alot of other files in the SVCPACK folder but they all seem to be related to the RVM update pack.

Sorry about the delay, I had an extra busy week.
Alright so I tried the driverpack that you posted and it did not work on the computer. I looked at the Device manager immedietly after the install and under system devices the one called "Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for High Definition Audio" was showing that it's drivers did not install correctly. All I had to do was click the reinstall drivers button and it would install correctly. I'm not absolutely sure if this is a problem with the driverpack or if something happend to the kb888111 patch that I slipstreamed.
The newer drivers didn't help. After spending quite a few hours on the issue it seems like my problem is coming from .inf files that include wmaudio.inf and other files from c:\windows\inf
It seems that dpinst.exe is unable to find them when running from RunOnceEx but it has no problem if ran manually afterwards.
I'm trying to figure out a workaround right now...
This sounds kind of like a problem that I had a while ago. Make sure that you have KB888111 integrated.
I'm on it.

Try this and let us know if it worked or not.
I won't be able to test it until tomorrow morning, but i'll let you know then.
Yes, one can edit DriverPacks.
One can replace a folder with an updated version, and one can delete folders and add folders.
I guess what I was really meaning here was if I was to add the driver I have to the same folder as the one in the current DriverPacks if it would cause any problems. I understand that the folders and files can in most cases be deleted without any problems. I was just checking to make sure that there wasn't some special reason for the older version of the driver being in the DriverPacks. Fortunately the install for the Sigmatel audio drivers is relatively simple.
Good catch, as far as I can tell the version I have is simply a newer version with more hardware support than the one currently in the driverpacks.
Would it be possible to update this in the driverpacks? As a short term solution I made my own driverpack with the files that I posted a link to in the original post. I've been using these quite a bit for about a month and have had 0 issues with more than 30 installs. Of course if it needs some more testing I can do that as well.
Is it possible to delete the files that were only in the version contained in the driverpacks? I'm not sure if this would break compatability in some way.
Alright, here you go. Let me know if you need anything else.

I would like to request that the audio driver for the Dell GX740 be included in the sound driverpack. I have already made my own small driverpack for it, but it would be more conveinent if it was in the main packs. According to the Dell website this driver will also add support for the Dimension C521, and E521 along with the GX740. I'm pretty sure that this driver should be pretty easy to add. I haven't had any problems with it myself.
DP_Audio_GX740 v5.10.0.5143, A09
Here's a link to the offical driver from dell.
Official dell driver
Or you know... You could click on the update tracker link on that page.... Here it is if you're too lazy - http://driverpacks.net/DriverPacks/UpdateTracker.php
Also, there's an RSS feed so you can subscribe to that and get updated notifications.
You know, when I was writing this post I thought the answer would be pretty obvious, but I hadn't been able to find it myself. Well, thanks for letting me know about the RSS feed, that's very useful.
I have an idea for the page at the url. http://driverpacks.net/DriverPacks/. It would be nice if on that page along with the link to each driverpack that it showed the current version as well. As it stands now you have to click two additional links to find out what version it is.
That's why God invented bigger hard drives! Just copy your RIS folder to a backup location and make the alteration. Then if it doesn't work Delete and restore!
All seriousness, I was just trying to let you know what I saw. After dealing with my own issues with DriverPacks, I just wanted to give you those suggestions. I don't know how to solve your RIS problem
It's not that my hard drive isn't big enough, it's just that testing things like that over and over again is something I want to avoid.
I'm beginning to think that this is more of a software bug that is related to my using it on an RIS install. I'd appreciate it if I could take to a developer and maybe try some things out to get this fixed.
I thought you were doing a NIS. If that's the case then your SVCPACK.inf wouldn't need a new CD every time because the CD just tells the installer to look on the network for the installation stuff. I think I read that someone was going to integrate the CPU and Chipset drivers to their boot NIS CD, and then integrate all of the other packs to the NIS Location.
While I agree with you that it is easy to update it that way. The reason I'm not is because every time I change something I would have to test the install to make sure that everything is working like it should.
According to your DPs_BASE.ini, you disabled QSC - Quick Stream Cache (this is something specific to DriverPacks - I wouldn't have expected google to turn anything up) AND you are installing ATI Catalyst Control Center which requires .NET to work properly. (If you were installing the ATI Catalyst Control Panel then it wouldn't be "CCC" but rather "CCP")
EDIT:
You don't have to manually add the switchless install from RVM to the svcpack - you could just integrate it using RVM's tool or nLite. You said it makes it easier to update by not adding it into the svcpack yourself - so you must be using one of those tools to update it.
Sorry about that, I got this setup confused with another that I have. I tried changing the settings and I still got the same error. A while ago on another setup I tried it with CCC and without .net installed. The drivers still work fine, but you get an error message when the CCC tries to start.
The reason I don't intergrate the installers into my cd is because I have mine setup so that when the main windows install finishes it runs a script that pulls another script off of a network share so that I can easily update it without having to create a new cd each time.
I don't think this'll solve your problem, but some things you may want to consider:
1.) Enable QSC (it avoids a bug where some .CAT files are not properly copied into the svcpack directory despite having their entries added into the svcpack.inf).
2.) Make sure you've got .NET in your installation (because of the ATI thing; RVM has a nice switchless .NET 1.1 SP1 installer that can be added to your svcpack.inf)
1. I'm not familiar with what QSC is. A quick google search proved to be no help either.
2. Actually, I have mine set to use the version from ATI that doesn't need ATI. I prefer not to install anything via svcpack.inf. It makes it easier to update if I don't.

edit: I can't figure out how to attach files to this. But, the dpbase.log doesn't show any error messages in it.
