Thanks. You manage to explain it clear to me with your post. Basically that is what I'm aiming for, hdd for each user (about 4) of the pc.

Reason for my question:
- I had read before that the OS / program will run / access faster on a smaller hdd size because of the lesser spin. (I don't know if it's true but I do it, like using 20 - 40 GB as primary (boot))

Now my question:
- Since now a days, the common hdd size (smallest) are those 80 GB.

1) If I partition the hdd does it increase performance?

2) Does partitioning a hdd bad idea?

3) If for No. 2 is "No", what are the pros & cons?

Is there only this one Fujitsu tool present?

Yup, there is only one fujitsu tool included in UBCD.

Maybe try IMB/Hitachi's for a chance, I had some success in the past scanning non-IBM disks with it (for defective sectors at least).

Using the "Advanced Test", resulted to no error. (Was run only once)

Currently waiting for the result of the "Exercise Test". (I have set it to run for about 10x)

Updates:
- Exercise Test Result (10x)

Error Code = 0x70 > Defective Device

- Exercise Test Result (10x) [Second Attempt]

Error Code = 0x70 > Defective Device

Hi again
you said you ran that ultimatebootCD in USB mode.

Sorry for the misleading information.

What I mean by that is, instead of burning the ISO to a CD and boot from there, I booted from the USB with the ultimatebootCD in it.

SMART has to be enabled in the BIOS of the machine it is hooked up to.
This is worth looking into, for chances are it is turned off.

I have turned SMART on in the BIOS.

Helmi wrote:

How many test loops did you run with Fujitsu's tool?

The tool won't even recognize the HDD...

BTW, I didn't say that the HDD is fine after using the Seagate Tool, I just posted the result of which tool happens to detect the HDD. Even the Maxtor's Diagnostic Tool failed to detect any HDD connected.

Ok, I just gotten that "adapter".

I tried using the http://ultimatebootcd.com/download.html in USB boot mode.

Test:
HDD: Fujitshu 60GB PATA (Laptop HDD)

Using the Fujitshi HDD Diagnostic Tool resulted to not finding the HDD (its the only HDD connected, the BIOS was able to detect the HDD).

Using the Seagate HDD Diagnostic Tool resulted to a message "HDD FAILS pretest SMART check!!" Does it mean the HDD is broken?

Using the Seagate HDD Diagnostic Tool resulted to a message "HDD have been overtemp - 100" Does it mean the HDD is very hot?

Using the Seagate HDD Diagnostic Tool resulted to a pass test. Both Short (DST) & Long test.

I see, so it doesn't matter if I buy cheap fans, the motherboard is the one handling the fan control. thanks :)

What should I look for to know if a CPU/System/Chassis fan have speed control? (screenshot would be appreciated)

- Do they have different number of wire?

thanks :)

I see... thanks again.

I'll post back after I get an adapter for the HDD. (it's not SATA)

I see, thanks, I'll try those steps.

The external is a laptop type HDD. Is it possible to connect it to a Desktop PC?

I get these 2 system error messages:

Event ID:    50

Description:
{Delayed Write Failed} Windows was unable to save all the data for the file . The data has been lost. This error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection. Please try to save this file elsewhere.

Event ID:    57

Description:
The system failed to flush data to the transaction log. Corruption may occur.

The device this error points to is a external HDD.

1) Is the HDD near its end?
2) Is the external HDD casing's chip causing the problem?

thank you in advance for your time to help ^^

Thanks

Question (Since that topic is closed)

at what pattern does Wireless Lan belongs to?

What driver packs need to be KTD, as far as what I have only known is that, the following: chipset, cpu, lan, mass storage don't need them since those are usually only use upon new format. (correct me if I'm wrong)

I added lan because lan ports/cards are mostly built-in w/ the board.

I tried turning the NCQ off and the event 51 disappears, i'll run it for a few more days and see what happens.

It could be that the hard drive is just fine but something isn't working properly between the controller (on the motherboard) and the NCQ on the drive.  You may want to see if there are BIOS updates for the motherboard or firmware updates for the drive.  All of these new technologies coming out these days seem half baked at best with each vendor implementing things however they see fit.

Perhaps some googling may reveal others are having similar difficulties.

i tried googling but didn't understand what i found... you can say that i'm a little moob w/ these new stuff... heheh sorry sad

best way to test your hardware is prime95 install the prog and start toturetest take the third test this will heat up your memory let this test run for 2h or longer when the memory has an problem then an fault message stops the test, then start the first test to check cpu heat. If this runs without Problems then it can be the mainboard sometimes nf4 has controller errors in ide or sata. Also sometimes but not offen the cpu is the problem because the memorycontoller is in it.

cHarOn

nearly in my 2H of testing and prime95 still not showing any errors... i think i'll keep it going for a few more hours then try the cpu test

thanks for your help guys, i hope i get this event 51 fix sad

Try running HD Health from here:

http://www.panterasoft.com/

It'll monitor the SMART stats for your HD, and can warn you if it is about to fail. I've run it for months, useful program.

thanks, i'll try that one and post the result

EDIT:

Weird, my  HD says that it supports NCQ, but this app says that NCQ is not supported

already check my memory w/ memtest, no errors found.

also tried defragmenting.

one thing that i get is that Seagate File System checker says that my file system have errors and i should run scandisk w/ /f , but after doing that, it still reports that my file system have errors

Well, you could eliminate DOTNET being the issue by just installing 1.1 and 2.0 from SVCPACK.

It won't.  As far as it knows, the driver is correct because the hardware looks identical.

ic, so the only way is to check if the versions match the ones found in the right drivers.

since this is the mass storage area, i'll post the lan concerns in the Lan area smile

ic, thanks for the info. yeah i'm currently thinking if i will be replacing my crts with lcds... they're making my place a bit crowded tongue

My nVidia nForce4 AMD system also appeared to install fine a few months ago (using nvRAID), but Windows was indeed using the wrong driver for the nVidia LAN.

More nForce drivers have since been added to the DriverPacks and I've not had the opportunity to test again, but nVidia's use of the same HWID across chipsets does seem to necessitate modding the DriverPacks for use with each nForce chipset variety.  I haven't tested the workaround for the nF3 LAN issue yet, but it may have been fixed.

Does that version number match what is displayed in the Device Manager Properties for the NVIDIA nForce4 Serial ATA Controller?

yes it match.

5eraph wrote:

You should also verify that the NVIDIA Network Bus Enumerator is using the correct driver.  I didn't notice any problems other than the wrong driver version, but I didn't use it long enough to encounter them before forcing Windows to use the correct driver from DP_LAN.

for this device i'm still checking it. i'll post if it installed the correct one or not.

edit: it seems to grab the driver from the 16x. (version 5.0.9)

windows will report some kind of an error if a mismatch driver installed is found right?
