I think the project is more alive than ever.
Users can help us.
the open sourcing has recently started, and some good fixes were tested.

some other known issues are looked at by good people.

FWIW, I agreed to buy intresting stock of a Co what is changing perspectives..
if it works out, i get plenty hardware to test, once/if deal  is delivered (cash delivery, no HW, no dOLLAR°)

hehe, You should use CDRW or DVDRW..
iow, rewritables...

hi

Muiz3 and Bâshrat the Sneaky are working on the sil3112 issue.
my testrig has another sil chip, so i cannot test this.

you could do with Nlite to slip your floppy into the source
then use DPs_base to slip everything but the mass storage.

(the guys are testing with a modified mass storage. something conflicts, and they are trying to finsd out what other driver does this)

hi
which browser do you use?
I still use IE6, fully updated.
Privacy settings in internet explorer options could also cause this, cookie handling (indirect cookies) privacy setting can be too high.

I'll put it to high, and see wether that causes it for me.
nope, download started on highest.
did not set anything in advanced, where you can manually set behaviour to override automatism.

can do that too... brb
can still get it
kerio 2.015, a hardware FireWall, telenet proxie, and highes possible (blocking all indirect cookies)

referrer is another thing, tho. I do not run a security suite that can block referrer.

IE7 might have more privacy tools so i will have to look at that tabbed monster.

hi
just to report that I made a fresh build.
The test-setup was done in virtual machine, and succesful.

a clean enterprise 2003 R2, ..  no nlite, no rvm ..
base 610, all available packs and a few 3rd party.
Method 2, no KTD, the machine is currently running updates, and finisher cleanup was succesful .

it don't need much to break, I believe.

mass storage drivers for windows x64 and vista x64 will need massive OEM support.

HDaudio and vista X64,,, that is not going to be for yesterday too. OEM drivers that get qualified in windows X64, might work. I did not get them to work, so far.

mass storage, if ya can get the list of storage drivers that work in vista and vista 64, I am all ears.

for some sources I ask it at, I cannot say wether I can put anything they anwser in public.

hi

I spoke too brashly when I said I made succesful 2003 server using MSDN source.
And I apologise for having made you think I did.

the MSDN DVD has five OSes, and I was using base 610.
when I finally got to ENTERPRISE server 2003 WITH the packs, I got as far as (( 7zip.exe is not a valid win32 application ))

so I posted a lie, but in good faith.. what had happened?
the standard server version I tried back then had simply not been base streamed. the four other OSes were.. this weren't

(Mind you, I am pleased that the three XP version in there work...)

I also think I saw a bugtracker report that looks like it has a solution to our problem.

We have no reason to complain too.
Server 2003 is actually not officially supported in driverpacks and DPs_Base.

I hope that will change.

hi

a lot of work is being put in the open-sourcing of the slipstream tool and driverpacks.
I cannot speak for Bâshrat the Sneaky, but what I see happening now is promising.
The source of the tools are looked at, and requests that would have been never implemented stand a good chance of getting online in an improved product.
new 32bit driverpacks are being tested right now.

ALAS, where are the 64 bit drivers?
I have licences for two X64 Pro versions, but some of the drivers for the machines I test on have still not passed WHQL.
Vista X64 won't even accept the winders X64 pro drivers...
We've a long wait to go...
I hate it as much as you do, and would like all X64 and vista X64 testers to share the links to drivers that work in their systems.

chipset vendors often post generic drivers, but you all know Mobo makers can change design, and their 'old' drivers found on their CD's and sites may work for their implementation, and the newer ones... sometimes don't.

help the project by helping yourself?
One of these days there is going to have to be an X64 section anyhow.
I guess so, since Vista is getting rolled out.

Hi

While reading another topic I read that download managers get blocked, and thought it would be a good idea to have that anounced in the downloads sections.

Another common reason for no access to a page are security suites.
When a suite blocks referrer, then the server might not see that this is same computer that hit the button (because it does not get the referrer), and it thinks it is a hotlinked request.
Many sites block hotlinked requests.

I know NIS used to cause this on sites. At my main hangout, I asked the admin he mentioned this.
One solution to the suite blocking referrer is to include driverpacks.net in the list of sites, and allow referrer for driverpacks.net.
Another solution is to "temporarily" disable the security suite while visiting driverpacks.net for downloading files.
I preferred the first. I included the site I want to DL from in the suite's list.

Hi
what I saw so far, tells me you really mean to get this "locomotive" on a well defined track.

I sure hope "small things" won't derail the project.

OUCH, I hope she looks as lovely as my dentist.

hi again

you can post the log on the way you used DPsBase..

I have made succesful 2003 server using MSDN sources.

I also realise there are issues when one uses DPs_Base  6.10 with KTD.
OTOH, default settings in DPs_Base  have not been cause of many issues?

hi

did you select only those you wanted, while all packs are in the driverpacks and 3rdparty packs folders(s), or do you just put the packs you want in the folder(s).

I ask, for I wonder wether the error is caused by selection handling rather than exception filter.
(it could actually be a a combo of both, when unselecting files present in the folders.)

I tend to not put files I am not gonna use in the folders.
I know I can reproduce the error when  I do things to the files (like repacking some packs)

the exeption filters look for files, and if files in the expanded packs are not (no longer.. cuz of repacked) in there, it freaks with that error.

Thijs van leer played a nice tune in exception.

Hi
do you have a link to the original download site?

a direct link to a file is most often not going to be used by Bâshrat the Sneaky

what version of windows are you using then?

Hi
if you really want them, use 7zip and unpack the driver pack files you find oem folder, and then put the D folder where you want it in $oem$.
I doubt that the packed files do any good when you put them in there...

unpacking during presetup saves space, and copying the unpacked files actually takes longer than unpacking them.

Hi
TEXTmode is what makes hard disk controller drivers load when you boot from the CD, and by adding the mass storage pack with textmode, you can avoid having to use F6 with drivers on a Floppy.

Hi

don't use KTD, and it should work.

hi

If you uploaded the screenshot to a picture gallery on the web, please just post the link to the screenshot.

I assume you downloaded to a folder called driverpacks
then ran the Base download, which selfextracts

well, in the folder you ran the base download in, you will find a new folder called driverpacks
That is where a copy of the files you want to select have to be at.

Hi

I do not see the image, but will answer anyhow.
I would use method 2 (with just one pack, one can use method 1.)
I would also include chipsets
and when you are in  selection, also select TEXTMODE.

hi

to integrate driverpacks, please use DPs_Base.

Hi Coccinelle
the main thing I wanted said was to do driverpacks last.

if you do base 610 and are using KTD on a clean copy, it can still produce that desktop ini
all I am going to test is wether entering the pattern stops that "trigger" event.
When Helmi uses pattern, he does not have the issue.
I have not gotten around to testing this for myself, yet, but am gonna do it.
...at the moment the testrig is being used for X64 version trials...

It seems to be a combination of this driverpack with Ryan's update pack.

I have it working with a dutch SP2 release

First make a new copy of your windows cd

then first slipstream the driver pack, after this slipstream de Ryan's update pack. After that all works fine (but...still that desktop.ini issue smile )

Hi
erm,  better first do RVM with Meulc's oktober pack, and after that do DriverPacks-Base streaming.

what causes the desktop ini thing when one does KTD is still a mystery.
I am ready to run a test with KTD with the pattern one finds in the FAQ section.
