Create a folder called "3rd party DriverPacks" in the same folder as BASE.

When you run BASE under Settings - DriverPacks - there is an option for 3rd Party DriverPacks, check it and your set to go.

You need SLEEP ?????

The DP team never sleeps.

We also have a sense of humour.

Try the latest version of Base 8.05, this has full support for SP3 and SP2.

SP3 has KB888111 or the latest version of it built in.

Hope this helps.

http://www.driverpacks.net/DriverPacks/ … .php?pag=b

There are people who don't want SP3 at the moment ???. Corporate admins want to test it first.

Overflow has already add checks for the detection of SP3 in the latest version of Base.

I found during testing that even if K888111 was loaded twice, XP did not care.

Downloaded and installed the new AVG 8.1 on my test rig, Antivirus, Antispyware and it stops you from accessing any web site that may be dangerous. AutoUpdating and scheduled scanning.

For a FREE version it works well.

Should point out that paid versions usually work better.

Better to have something than nothing.

Have to fully agree, I would never install a Beta on a clients PC. However, I have no problem installing a Beta on my test rig.

The torrents have a terrible reputation for including a "little present" i.e. Spyware, Bots, Rootkits etc.

I get my Beta's from my local MS rep, they are clean.

Overflow is correct, stay away from dubious downloads, they may crash and the programming team thinks it's a problem with their code.

Sorry Jaak, its the end of the week. I thought you meant Base 8043.

My brain is dead at the moment.

huh? is correct.

When using Nlite to integrate SP3 5503 and IE7-MP11 using Addons please use Nlite 1.4.5 B2 or IE7-MP11 will fail to install.

Went through 5 or 6 DVD's figuring out the problem.

Of course DriverPacks did NOT cause any problems. The DP slipstream works fine.

IE7 for SP3 5503 or later.

(download box appears after a few seconds)

I just tested by downloading Graphic A and got 820-834k all the way through.
IE7 averaged 840 on Graphics B

Try Firefox 2.012.

Please be careful about your language on this site.

Happy Birthday Jaak and many more to come.

Give your girl a big hug for all of us and tell her we appreciate the time she lets you spend on DriverPacks.

What you need is a night out and a few beers to brighten up your day.

Enjoy.

That heatsink could cool my house !!!

15 minutes to desktop, that's impressive.

It is likely the CPU temp is lower that the System as all the heat is being sucked off the CPU and the North/South bridge chips plus the memory and hard drive are all throwing heat into the Case itself, 100f is not bad. When you can boils the water for a cuppa then it's hot.

Nice PC, how about a pic of the case ??

Enjoy.

Used the standard Antec Tri-cool fans set to low.  Didn't load anything, HDD isn't connected yet, just played around in the BIOS making sure everything was set correctly.

Wow this thing is quiet!  I have quieter fans in a box (Yate Loon & Scythe) but I don't know if I'll need them.  The 8800GTS fan cranks up to maximum on power-up, then fades into nothingness.
And the CPU temp...That can't possibly be correct. hmm
The BIOS is reporting idle CPU temp as 29C which is about 85F (ambient is 19C/68F).  That's too low!
Of course, that was in the BIOS, load testing will come later. big_smile

So, what is the progress, does it kick butt, it sounds as if it should.
We need to know, we need hardware food !!!

Any problems with Vista 64 drivers for printers etc.

They probably make them for Vantec as they make very little, cheaper to buy a product and resell it.

Been reading several articles saying Server 2008 suitably modified not hacked is WAY better than Vista, not to cheap though.

Like Helmi, I had not given any thought to the dual core thing, I will have to test that as I have Vantec SATA removeable drive cages.
Handy for changing HD and if a drive partition blows up it does not take the other one down.

or

Just an idea.

You can also buy the inserts to hold an extra HD on it's own.

Guess I will not be able to test Vista with SP1 as they pulled it !!!

Hope you enjoy your new rig. For me, the building of it is the best part.

p.s. Brunettes are expensive too, I married one 24 years ago.

$1500 shipped.

I'll post some pics once I get the beast up and running.  I may buy a water cooling kit this summer, we'll see how the Scythe holds up first.

Of course, I bought all of this with YOU GUYS in mind.  I mean, I owe it to you to have a decent "testing" rig...right? smile

That is one nice rig, glad you choose GigaByte, nice motherboards.

My only question is: why Vista !!!  -   Just asking, don't bite.

Found this on Google, may help

Nice to have a "How to" file or a reply to this post.

i.e. Where does the "DP" folder go: c:\   or   c:\windows. Do all your files have to be copied to c: drive etc.

Looks good but tell us how to use it, it would help the forum readers to know these things.

Thanks for your hard work, I look forward to trying it. It will certainly help me out in the future.

I had a similar problem a week ago (corrupted file), cleaned the DVD Reader and everything was fine. Also try putting the PC on it's side and pull the cables from the DVD and put a spare drive laid on the top and try that.

You may also have a bad piece of memory, try Memtest86+

http://www.memtest.org/#downiso
Download - Pre-Compiled Bootable ISO (.zip)

Create a CD and boot from it.

Just a few ideas that may help.

Good luck.

Have you tried Firefox, just a thought.

I looked at that link, the file size is 1.16gb, the one I got from MS is 2.67gb.

Let me know if the one you got was the SP1 Update only or the full DVD.

Got an E-Mail from MS with the link and my ID worked, I think someone screwed up.
Tried the link this morning and it was dead.

Found this on the net re: kernel upgrade.

http://news.zdnet.co.uk/software/0,1000 … 667,00.htm

Mail you a DVD or need a secure site with 2.4gig free.

p.s. The install was 15-18 minutes

Glad to see you back Helmi

Please be careful with language on the forum. We know Media Player is not the favorite of many people but to use words like that is not appropriate here.

Ask nicely and you never know, the programmers may look at it.

Just downloaded Vista SP1 full version RTM and installed on the following:

Celeron 440 (2.00gz, 800fsb, 512k)
2 gigs DDR2 (dual channel)
160gig SATA2 Hitachi HD
SATA DVDRW - Sony
GigaByte G31 Motherboard

Install time very fast.
Copying of files within Vista greatly improved.
IP6 is now a major feature.

One thing that more knowledgeable people than me are saying is that SP1 has the new micro kernel that was developed for Server 2008, will have to verify this.

Found all Hardware driver during install, a plus over XP.

I still think I will stick with XP for another year or so, lets see what Windows 7 brings to the table.

Will test over the next few days and report back. May pop in a removable hard drive (great for testing guys, ask me if you want more information on those).

Jaak, what is the latest solid Nightly Mass Pack #. Need to try all the new files.

Thanks.
