I was able to duplicate this issue with DriverPacks BASE 8.12.5 M2 with only DriverPack Chipset selected...

Here is the deal... if you update a pack or if you hit refresh DriverPacks BASE assumes something has changed.
BASE believes you have updated or changed the DriverPacks, and resets all the selections to none.
this is a direct result of the function that finds the latest versions and is intentional.
IE what if you update 8.12 to 9.01...
If the selections were not reset then 8.12 would still be selected for slipstream.
So if you update or hit refresh the DriverPacks selections are reset to none and then you must reselect the packs you desire.

In all versions of DriverPacks BASE newer than 8.12.x (there has been about 6 versions since then)
the update checker is the second screen instead of the second to last last screen.
So since in all newer versions the update screen is before the DriverPacks selection screen and even before you select the Platform that you want...
That should avoid any confusion / issues - Especially once one of the newer versions is released to the public.

the order for all versions newer than 8.12.5 is
Start
UpdateChecker
Settings
- location
- DriverPacks
- DriverPacks method
- finisher method
Optional settings
- ...

Thanks for reporting

Jeff

PS with previous versions you can easily navigate to the UpdateChecker first simply by selecting / clicking on it in the navigation tree on the left wink.

You must AT LEAST include your DPs_BASE.log, and include proper details.
(See 'Read BEFORE you post' linked in my signature, check off each item as you go.
It was also on the rules page you had to agree to before posting wink)

IE Am I supposed to guess which of the forty or so versions of DriverPacks BASE you are currently using? I mean it could be an Alpha, Beta, Nightly, RC, official release, current, older, ???...

Did you use M1 or M2? (Neither method copies DriverPacks to the root of the disc BTW.)
Were you slipstreaming Win2K, WinXP or Win2K3?
Did you select only main packs or 3rd party DriverPack too?
did you only select only Mass or all main packs? (or other combo) Was mass textmode enabled?

You might as well have reported "My car won't start. Help!" wink
The details are obviously to vague to offer any kind of help. I might guess you had no gas in your car only to find out you drive a Diesel big_smile.

Help us to help you. Details are the key, 99% of these details are included in your log, which is mandatory for a support post...

read the changelog for BASE / Mass in the testing team forum...
We have a case where one driver replaces three native drivers... do there is an entry in the mass INI that has three sections but only one of then has HWIDs. this is only a problem if you are using a pre 10.x BASE with a 10.x Mass  wink. since you don't use the data in the mass INI it would not affect you big_smile. have you tried the 906r6 version? IE how long has this issue existed?

NV8 deleted:

sad Kare's DriverImportPE detected and installed a driver from DP_LAN_wnt5_x86-32_1003r1.7z but I was unable to start network support.

Before trying cdob's suggestion I would like to ask a few things:
- there is a flag (?) in DriverPack_LAN_wnt5_x86-32.ini (ms_1_exc_skipIfOS="wxp,w2k3") that prevents NV8 being slipstreamed into BartPE's plugin, isn't it?
- if I leave just the NV8 folder it would not get slipstreamed, right?
- do I also need to remove ms_1_exc_skipIfOS="wxp,w2k3" before attempting to slipstream the NV8 folder alone?

YES!
Right!
YES! That Whole [NV8] section removed ...

I think the best thing to do is to add the RIS driver cdob pointed to by adding it to the  <UBCD4Win>\drivers\ folder and not use DriverPack LAN at all (disable or delete the DriverPack LAN plugin... does that work?

I already said that RIS drivers were a better way to go wink...

if that works we delete all the NV folders from BartPE by using the mass INI file adding the skipIfOS="wxp,w2k3" exception. (or we could call it a flag... which should have the same effect as removing all the NV folders from the pack wink) and add the RIS driver to the pack (NV9 ?)

Sorry about my sabatoge / N8-NV8 typo!

yes... i have an idea... do you use DriverPacks BASE as part of your process? if so did you use the latest one 10.03.06?

Or are you just using the intel folders manually somehow... (or OLSP or other method?)
Give me some background, and please remember i have a limited knowlege of sysprep...
I'm sure you remember i would rather have teeth pulled than use it.  wink tongue

Nice to see you again chud!

Can you provide a link to a driver that you know works properly for this device?

strange that it reports itself as an ACPI device rather than a USB device
(drivers are installed by HWIDs if the device itself does not report properly that it's a USB device then the device [hardware] is the problem)

I posted my notes from my first attempt at adding drivers to win 7 in our documents section of the site...
Perhaps it will help you, at least with Win 7.
learning to use DISM and then using it to add mass storage drivers to your disc will take you less time than it will take to copy your install Disc to the HDD. check out my notes i linked to below. You will discover that four simple one line commands are all that are neccessary big_smile. 1=mount image 2=extract DriverPack to temp folder 3=add drivers 4=unmount/save image... done!

I refuse to deal with vista at all wink.
I tell customers flat out... upgrade, downgrade or go somewhere else.
And if they are silly enough to tell me they like it and have no problems with it...
Then I will ask them "then why do you need my services?"
and if they are silly enough to persist with "because it's broke"
I answer "Exactly, and from day one right out of the box, and before you ask I won't work on Win ME either" wink tongue

You must use Imagex / DISM to add drivers to Vista / Win7. The two tools you mention are simply GUIs for ImageX and DISM (both part of the MS WAIK)

Try the Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT) to make this as easy as possable. Which also will use DISM and ImageX as included in the WAIK. If you do not already have WAIK installed on your machine MDT will allow you to download and install it for you by selecting that option from the MDT GUI  wink.

There will be a new tool provided by us for Vista / Win7 (also depending on ImageX and DISM from the  WAIK). DriverPacks BASE will probably not support NT6 going forward.
In the past (NT5) adding drivers was a HUGE, very involved and unforgiving task... With NT6 it is pretty easy, especialy with MDT. On a scale from one to ten, adding drivers to NT5 is about a nine, and adding drivers to NT6 is about a two. tongue

Thanks for the high praise!

Welcome to DriverPacks.net!

Jeff

Yeah sound is not yet ready to go...
The UBCD4win team needs to work on the HWPnP plugin before sound will work reliably wink
that is why the sound packs are somewhat disabled wink.

the NIC really has me stumped...
In theory if you removed N8 then what i gave you should be close to, or identical to, LAN 8.12.1...
Hmmm... back to the drawing board. tongue

I am working on BASE ATM if one of the PacksTeam doesn't get to it i will take another look at it after i get the DriverPacks BASE bugs fixed big_smile!

PS drop by the driverImportPE thread here and give some props. that way others may know it works, and the author can get some props! http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?id=3217

strange... that should have been the identical load out as the 8.12.1 setup...
Can you try deleteing the N8 folder altogether and tell me if that works?
Perhaps my INI exception failed and N8 is still in conflict

Well we don't need updated drivers... just the old / original ones, they may be still on the site but just not linked anymore wink.

I have a test pack for you to try please...

http://driverpacks.sytes.net/driverpack … _1003r1.7z

Changelog
restore HWID to N7
add BartPE exception to skip N8 in pack INI

well it looks like Catc was bought by lecroy and while i had no problem finding the owners manual, drivers were not so easy to find and their site is so slow i got the impression that it is hosted on a dialup modem

here is the link to the owners manual

perhaps an email to lecroy may yield a link to an archive of drivers somewhere wink.
ftp://catc.com is still live but anonymous access is denied sad
same for lecroy...

Excellent first couple of posts, Good titles and details... links, well done!

Please look up the model number here.

Test the OEM driver and then provide us the direct link to the tested known good OEM driver.
We won't accept drivers from third parties thank you for understanding.

Welcome to DriverPacks.net and thanks for the feedback!
We are glad you stopped by.

Jeff

All missing drivers are welcome! The point of our project is to be all inclusive wink.

I checked and they are in fact missing from the LAN pack.
- I still have to check to see if they are already included in a 3rd party DriverPack...

Thanks for your excellent details and links in your first two posts.
It is rare that I don't have to point a new user to "read before you post"

Very well done! Cudos!

Welcome to DriverPacks.net and have an awesome day!

Jeff

PS We will have to see if we can help you to find some better links... keithm is definately not an OEM or manufacturer source, and driverguide is not really a primary choice either... We only accept drivers from original sources, like LinkSys, Dell, Gigabyte, Nvidia, Intel, ATI, etc...

there is also a 30 trial version of 12 running around too I got that one for free about a month ago...
I liked the older verson better (I have ver 10) until I figured out that it could be made to behave like the old version by disabling "zones"

Good teamwork guys!

DISM all by itself works great for this, but...
If you use MDT (Microsoft Deployment Toolkit) it is all very seamless. I have been playing with it!
It's a really nice front end / GUI for all the WAIK tools and is specifically designed for simplifying WDS... wink
Although you don't have to use it with a deployment server it is tailored for making WDS easy as possible for admins.
If you download MDT first it will allow you to download and install WAIK right from the GUI big_smile.
It's pretty strong! Check it out.

Not a bug... More of an undocumented feature wink  -  Adding the rest of the DriverPacks is NOT supported big_smile.
(It is also possible to do this manually from DPs_BASE.INI)

The rest of the packs, especially DriverPack Sound A and DriverPack Sound B, will fail on most hardware. The plugins that the remaining DriverPacks depend on are not mature enough to support them. The UBCD4Win team, especially Hilander999, is working on updating the plugins they depend on so they will work.

I initially wrote the code to add ALL the DriverPacks... and then disabled chipset and sound because they were / are not reliable. DriverPacks.net always chooses / presents options that do not lead to problems. Selecting Chipset and Sound WILL lead to problems big_smile.  - Note that selecting chipset will quite likely kill any Nvidia based network card you may encounter wink. Also note that selecting chipset will not benefit you in any way. IE since mass storage drivers are the text mode versions (not the PnP enhanced mode) they won't run any better (and may kill Nvidia based ones) if the chipset driver is installed. wink Remember PE uses only text mode drivers (16bit) so the only benefit might be a cosmetic one in device manager. If Highlander finishes updating the HWPnP Plugin that may change... The problem is thousands of lines of registry entries simply do not exist in PE...

PE is NOT a windows OS! its an installation / recovery tool wink PE = Preinstallation Environment

I would thank you for reporting... except you did not mention whether or not it worked smile tongue wink

PS I NEVER said it was not possible.
I said it was not supported and it is not supported.
It's Not supported by us, nor by UBCD4Win nor anyone else wink.
I would very much like to hear how it works out for you!

True!

I am almost done hashing out the GUI issues with DriverPacks BASE, stay tuned!

Thanks ricktendo - Always nice to see you here!

BartPE ONLY uses the text mode drivers wink

And it only uses drivers as they are listed in the mass storage ini

Will do!
I am a little confused though because in the DriverPack MassStorage 10.02.21 I gave you, I put your HWID back with the driver it was with in 9.01 release...

The HDD is SATA, right?

I will have to dig a little deeper!
