you should not need your batch with the final... thanks for reporting!

http://www.doitrightconsulting.net/foru … ic.php?t=3

RogueSpears Autoimage will create a RIS image... RIS uses winnt32 but he supplies his own fake setup to accomplish the setup of the DriverPacks... in the thread you pointed to they were useing someone elses fake setup for that... there is a link to msfn.org with the details in that thread...

I did not say it suld not be done i said we don't support it wink

Thank you I will take another look at it and see what i can do...

nope 5.29 is latest nightly

this week... if no bad reports from the team

I'll send you a link, the latest Mass must be used with the latest DriverPacks BASE

Pleease report success or failure in mass storage forum...

driverpacks is not compatable with a winnt32 setup... only Disc based setup is supported...

DriverPacks is designed to be called from setup.exe ... with that install method you are using winnt32.exe instead...

In order for it to work you would have to write a dummy winnt32 exceutable that would call presetup.cmd then exits with a call returning processing to  winnt32.exe %0

Exellent first post!

Welcome to DriverPacks.

this is exactly the kind of feedback we need. yes this is very interesting. mr_smartepants can see what can be done to resolve this issue, subscribe to this topic if you have not already and stay tuned you may be asked to test a nightly DriverPack.

thanks again

have a great day

It does not happen very often... simple CDN supplies all of our downloads.

they have multiple geographically dispersed clusters of servers. We upload them to a location then they handle all the Mirroring and server selection for our users. Kind of set it and forget it deal. You would have been automatically connected to a server cluster near you that had the available bandwith to serve you. I have absolutely no idea which  server (or cluster) you may have been routed to. Since we get around two million downloads a week and this is the only report of an issue i belive (hope) it was an isolated incident.

Thanks for your kind words it means a lot!

Jeff

- I don't belive there is any way for you to either cause or avoid this issue... It was just bad luck.
although you might run chkdsk just to make sure it's not your HDD wink

Please verify the MD5 checksums of your DriverPacks... they are available on the download pages of the main site

mr_smartepants and I believe we have finally arrived at what you have been having issue with.
He has posted the results of our PM / chat discussion above.
As I suspected it is NOT a bug. You need functionality that has never been required in the past. That makes this a feature request.
The code required to add this functionality is quite simple to implement. Unfortunately you have bitten the hand that feeds you.
This code may be added at some point in the future, as it is you are the only one who needs it and you are quite rude. That makes it a very low priority for me.

Only exact matches have ever been required for anything except PCI devices.
Many or most PCI devices do require "generic" matching based on reduced HWID uniqueness.
IE A device reports a HWID of
HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_111D&DEV_7608&SUBSYS_103C308C&REV_1002
and needs to match an INF file containing a "generic" HWID of
HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_111D&DEV_7608&SUBSYS_103C308C or a "super generic" HWID of
HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_111D&DEV_7608

I can see where this may be useful, but as it is nobody needs it.

Hint: Since you are forcing install of unsigned drivers anyway... Just modify the inf to include the full HWID so they will match wink.

PS if you read our rules and posting guidelines it clearly states we are NOT a Newbie friendly site. We never have been and never will be. Again, your fault entirely. You did not read the rules (IE Rule #0) and you made a silly / ridiculous statement that made me laugh.. sorry. If you will put this behind you then so will I. Start by showing some respect and we'll go from there.

If you don't want to receive offensive posts then don't write them and show proper respect. Simple...

Follow directions. answer simple questions. ask nicely. We have a saying here "Mess with the bull and get the horns"

I will try this tomorrow...

It IS  AMAZING . mr_s is the heart of this team... We'd be dead without him!

I just don't have words to show my personal appreciation.

Jeff

Thank you... Much better!

It wouldn't hurt you to get the most recent version of DriverPacks BASE...
In fact 8.12.5 is newer than 9.02.x

May I know, please, WTF you silent about so far? smile

I don't like you. I don't like your attitude. I don't like your on line profile.

you are rude and disrespectful. you are an idiot. I have no interest in wasting any more of my time with you.

you don't follow directions you wont answer direct questions. I have asked three times to detail how you create this issue. the best answer you gave me was to read a book. Dude I have been in computers since 1968. I got my degree in Programming when you were in diapers. and yes i know your 30 years old. You are a snot nosed spoiled brat kid compared to me. LOOSE the F UCKING attitude. you are one step from being banned. Your mind is not a book and I can't read it. if it were a publication it would be MAD magazine. Your not smarter than me and you definately don't know more about computers than me, and you certainly are not a better programmer than me. Sit down shut up, pay attention, and answer simple questions, and show some respect. failure will result in the arrival of the troll patrol and then banning.

@Team I think we have another Falcon Four on our hands! aka Pie Rat

Follow directions. answer direct questions. OR LEAVE.

I have decided you will get no help from me. = Silence

It wouldn't hurt you to get the most recent version of DriverPacks BASE... there have been quite a few updates since 9.02

In fact 8.12.5 is newer than 9.02.x  (8.12.5 was released 9.06) and version 10.x is in RC testing ATM

Agreed
I just use them all
problem solved

big_smile

PS the info is added to the packs already... It's contained in the drivers INF files.
translation... its easier to add all the packs than to figure out what you need and create a new disk each time

If you are unable to describe how to cause this error then there is no way for us to fix it...

end of story.

No we don't believe we are the only ones who can create a fake setup...
However we only support OURS... Feel free to write your own finisher too wink tongue

Either tell us how to reproduce this error or stop wasting our time...

see "read before you post" linked in my signature.

I don't understand your question...

Are you talking about one of your personal 3rd party DriverPack?

Let us see your DPs_BASE.log and DPsFnshr.log please

Yes it is strange... and I still believe it is due to something he has done...

further evidenced by this

12 matching device(s) found.

Pay particular attention to the last two HWIDs.

I have enough evidence to believe at this point he has Blown Up more than an INF file or two... tongue
VEN_FLASH&PROD_BY_YIKXX&REV_1.00\B4A518000052&0
Is definitely not a valid HWID...
That looks a lot like he corrupted one or more of his devices BIOS...
All it would take is one invalid HWID to cause the program to exit the loop that creates the array of HWIDs.

I am sure that this is the result of a faulty modification he has made to an included driver INF...
without YikXx telling us truthfully and completely what he has done I can't identify his error.
However i have seen enough evidence to believe he screwed the pooch on this wink
No pack ever produced by us or Greg or SamLab or anyone else has ever had this issue.
Hundreds if not thousands of packs... Yet only his packs have an issue??? (GIGO)

I see no evidence of a finisher bug... at all.
I am not able to create or repeat his issue... Can you?

Since this error can not be demonstrated, I can not offer a solution. (I can't tackle a ghost.)
I am tired of asking him to provide details... Perhaps his reluctance is related to some association with unsavory activities.
He just needs to cough up the pack that causes this issue so I can show him his mistake.
The burden of proof is still on YikXx.

Until I can personally reproduce this error, it is definitely NOT a BUG. Even then it's only a BUG if its not GIGO.

Can we reproduce your issue just based on the info in your post

The answer to this question is still "no".

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO IN ORDER TO MAKE THIS ERROR OCCUR ON MY MACHINE?

I think what I should do is add some code to the finisher so that it will exit with a critical error if an invalid HWID is found, that would absolutely place the blame where it belongs big_smile! But I don't see why i should go out of my way for someone who shows me no respect.

IE

OK, I will wait for result of bugfixing here.

Who said you found a BUG??? Not me... not mr_smartepants. I find this statement very disrespectful.
You're going to wait??? you haven't even demonstrated you have found a bug yet...
You should not be waiting. You need to get to work proving you have found a bug. At least if you want us to be able to help.

I NEVER said we had a BUG I said that "I wish you luck in proving you found a bug" You still have not yet proved you have found a bug. And I don't think you ever will... But 'Good Luck' trying. One person in ten million has ever found a bug in BASE. The odds of your success are almost zero. BUT... IF you actually DO find a BUG... THEN (and only then) I will tell you when you have found a BUG and then I will ask you to create a bug report at the bugtracker. THEN I will be glad to fix it. We are no where near that yet... First i need to reproduce the bug on one of the many machines on my workbench.

Again... First you have to find a BUG... Right now all I see is user error. (GIGO)

I am convinced that this is a GIGO error (Garbage In Garbage Out error). You are dumping garbage into the finisher so you are getting garbage out... PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE feel free to prove me wrong... And I wish you Good Luck with that task! (you are going to need it). The odds I am wrong are quite slim, probably one in a million. tongue If it happens it happens, and I will admit it. It certainly would not be the first time I was wrong and certainly won't be the last. Since It happens so rarely I can deal with it with a big smile big_smile and take my lumps like a man wink.

I suggest you do a process of elimination...

does your graphics pack have this error if it is the only one slipstreamed?
(I am going to bet the answer to this question is no)
If the answer to that question is yes... What change do you make that causes it to blow up?

Are you saving your files as UNI or ANSI?

I think the graphics pack issue is caused by another pack... So... What other pack used with your graphics pack blows it up. Is it the same one that has that goofy USB driver in it?

I assure you the mistake is yours. Keep Simplifying your equation until you find your issue.

At this point I am very curious to see one of your DPs_BASE.log files... Hmmm...

LOL Bonehead_coder LOL - Welcome to DriverPacks!

this is an excellent opportunity for us... that particular device falls right in line with what i am working on ATM.

It would be great if you can do some test installs for us! TIA. (I'll need to get a pack together for you first wink)

Now were getting somewhere!

Thanks for helping us to help you and making DriverPacks better for everyone!

@mr_smartepants... I seem to remember it took quite a while to eventually find and squash that bug to... Sorry again.

@YikxX When we're wrong we admit it! big_smile Just be aware that it doesn't happen very often. It has taken mr_s several years to score less than a handful of bugs and he is here every day wink. With that in mind... Please accept my best wishes for your success followed by my apology big_smile.

Jeff

PS Bad English is no problem! Just do your best. If it does not translate well then I will just ask you to try again. Usually I can understand what you are attemting to say just fine. Don't worry about it at all. The best thing you can do is to tell me as much as you can. I don't care about how well written it is. It is only frustrating when I am not given the whole story. Tell us as much as you know and don't worry about if it is good english. It's much better to go through a bunch of bad English than to not get the whole picture.

Dude are you blind? (LOL)

example:

http://driverpacks.net/driverpacks/wind … cs-a/10.04

look in yellow window on left side... Labled "Included drivers"

Included drivers
— 1 driver
ATI Technologies — 1 driver
ATI Technologies Inc. — 7 drivers
NVIDIA — 26 drivers
String value %NVIDIA% NF — 1 driver

Details

click "Details" wink

Is there not enough info there for you? big_smile tongue wink

Let me know if there is anything else that we can / could do!

OK!

Thanks and have an Awesome day man!

Jeff

Let's see the entire DPsFnshr.log please - unedited
Please also include the output of the HWIDs tool linked in my signature.

(this may require you to split the file into multiple posts or for you to provide a link to it on rapid share, or a similar site)
Please use code tags. you can edit your post to see how that is done.

Thanks for following up with better details. In order to find and fix a bug it is necessary to be able to repeat it. From Rule #0:

6. Tell us what you did - Could we try to reproduce your issue ourselves just based on your first post?

Clearly the answer to that is, NO wink (No terse responses or LOL's when you follow the rules / guidelines... fair enough?)

Help us to help you... It's called "read BEFORE you post" for a reason. big_smile (AKA "Rule #0")

I still don't have enough info to help you. Although it seems (from the limited info you provided) as though a HWID was not matched I am still not in a position to be able to cause the issue to happen here on my bench in my presence. Then debug the input, process, and output. Then identify the problem and provide a fix / workaround or expose user error (by user error I mean a mistake in the OEM INF or your packs INI or the packs layout or whatever - AKA GIGO)

In Example (IE) since you updated the pack with a driver, then please link us to that driver... If you edited the INF, please also include a copy of the entire INF that includes your edits. Same thing for the packs INI, Please provide the section(s) you edited - Even better if you provide the entire INI file. - We need to be able to reproduce the error by testing it for ourselves. - tongue big_smile (The very best option is to provide your custom DriverPack to us for review)

Do you now understand what I need from you... and why?
Do you understand now why what you did was frustrating for me / us?
I realize that your primary language is Russian.
Just to be clear we were not being mean or hateful. We were not ignoring you or putting you off.
Just giving you a deliberate shove in the right direction.
I really don't care about grammar or vocabulary. Many of our users do not speak English as their primary language. I would rather struggle through bad English than to not have enough info to go on. Capice?

Regards
Jeff

I am more than Happy to fix a BUG but first It is up to you to demonstrate that one exists.

You (initially) failed to provide any info that indicated that a bug exists and certainly failed to provide any of the details requested in 'read before you post'. We have not had an issue with the finisher in many years, If you wish to claim there is a bug it is not unreasonable for us to expect you to DETAIL the problem. your fault entirely. You simply saying "you have a bug fix it". does not "help us to help you". you were attempting to be helpful... but...  the info you provided (in your first post) was not helpful at all.

Now that you have included bare minimum details we will be reviewing them now... Had you provided those details to begin with this thread may have gone differently for you big_smile. After that last statement you had better pray that it is a bug... because if it is user error i am going to have big fun with you wink tongue.  If it actually is a bug then I gladly will address it. Immediately big_smile.

Code tags added to your post for you...
Please review our rules and posting guidelines especially RULE #0
