Topic: Setup cannot copy setuporg.exe

I'm trying to install WinXP from a bootable UBCD4WIN usb flash drive. I read the thread here that Driverpacks looks for the I386 folder in the root so I moved I386 to the root of my flash drive, but I still get this error message.

I'm able to boot into UBCD4WIN & run the command "X:\i386\winnt32.exe /syspart:C: /tempdrive:C: /makelocalsource /noreboot"  which copies the windows files to my "c" drive. I then reboot & windows continues the installation only to stop when it can't read the setuporg.exe file. At this point Windows is copying the files from my hard drive (C drive) not my flash drive so having the I386 folder in the root of the flash drive makes no difference. How do I point it to the I386 folder on my hard drive? Thanks.

Re: Setup cannot copy setuporg.exe

driverpacks is not compatable with a winnt32 setup... only Disc based setup is supported...

DriverPacks is designed to be called from setup.exe ... with that install method you are using winnt32.exe instead...

In order for it to work you would have to write a dummy winnt32 exceutable that would call presetup.cmd then exits with a call returning processing to  winnt32.exe %0

Re: Setup cannot copy setuporg.exe

Ok that makes sense. What threw me off was this thread. http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?pid=29826
People talked about installing Windows from the I386 folder. How were they doing that?

RogueSpears Autoimage will create a RIS image... RIS uses winnt32 but he supplies his own fake setup to accomplish the setup of the DriverPacks... in the thread you pointed to they were useing someone elses fake setup for that... there is a link to msfn.org with the details in that thread...

I did not say it suld not be done i said we don't support it wink
