The 7.05.2 release fixes an error when slipstreaming a disk platform using Method One
a path issue / bug was reported in the following thread
http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic. … 036#p11036
The 7.05.1 Release fixes an undeclared variable error / bug that occured when useing method 1.
Reported by users mario_buc and Xusen.
The 7.05 Release adds a function to create a redistributable Plugin for bartPE and addresses some Profile issues that occured when switching from one platform to another (IE Disk to BartPE or Multi to Disk ect...). We have also updated Thai language support - Thanks to SoKoOLz.
New in this release:
- Thai language support (SoKoOLz).
- Some additional language updates
- BartPE redistributable plugin Creator (OverFlow)
- Cleaned up some GUI page profile issues
- Open sourceing of the ability of advanced team members to release DriverPacks and Base. (Bâshrat the Sneaky)
This is my first attempt at a release so if I missed something Please point it out (nicely
).
Changes to all Platforms
=====================
Resolved a pre-existing condition (traced back to at least version 6086)
This condition would present the wrong page profiles if someone clicked the next button when an invalid folder was selected.
IE if a valid "Disk" location was set and the user swiched to bartpe and then clicked next, all the packs would be selectable, and they are not supported and won't work... yet! Also if "Multi" was selected and then the user switched back to disk strange things would display. (Cleaned up some gui profile issues.)
Changes to BartPE
=====================
The Base should should now create a "vanilla" plugin if textmode is unchecked and the base is run from outside the BartPE folder structure. This would be helpful as it would create a stand alone plugin with generic settings that could be dropped into any BartPE plugin folder and then be configureable from the PEBuilder plugin configuration screen. Remember in order to create the initial plugin it is better not to have the base program in the bartpe folder (but probably will work fine if this was done)
A "vanilla" plugin can be dropped into the \bartpeprogram\plugin folder of ubcd4win or any other bartpe build.
(so it creates a \[bartpeprogram]\plugin\Driverpacks.net folder) and then it would be configureable from the plugin page in pebuilder by pressing <Config>.
The Base should create a fully configured and funtional BartPE Textmode plugin if the Textmode box is checked. (default setting)
===========================
As always, there are many people who contribute their time and resources to this project, all of whom make this possable.
Just because their names did not appear in this list (and I am sorry if I missed you) doesn't mean their efforts are not appreciated. This is a team effort and all of the team members deserve a HUGE Thank You !
The driver packs team, lead by Muiz, has been tirelessly adding new drivers.
The language team has been adding corrections and new languages.
THe UBCD4win Team has been an indispensable asset to my success with BartPE.
millenium edition is there too.... but...
I'm reverting yet another laptop loaded with Vista to XP for a customer that just hates Vista.
I'm not thinking that you did disagree - i think you agreed :-P
Bâshrat the Sneaky reference to the branch was an offer to let you add your functionality to the base itself.
by making a separate branch it would allow for simultanious development without preventing releases from happening if one or the other team was not ready.
if you wish to provide your stand-alone application that simply uses the packs themselves looks like you have full support of Bâshrat the Sneaky and the team.
PS. You might have sold BartPE short. It certainly can be fully customized and automated.
UBCD4Win is an excellent example of that.
You can count on me. I'll help anyway can.
I want to do vista but I think it's still a little to raw to invest a great deal of time on.
I have been waiting for SP1 before taking the plunge.
you forgot to mention that the surface of cheap cdrw and dvdrw can delaminate as a result of the type and quality of the varnish that is used on the upper surface.
I'm glad you guys had so much fun with this thread.
@helmi - I deliberately did not get technical on this subject, but i'm glad you did =P
there are some security mesures in place please try with IE and without download assistance programs.
(we check for referers)
Quite simple to do
Just create a CD useing method 1
PS its over 300 meg useing method 2 and around 500 useing method 1 with all packs selected.
PPS You can put the cab compressed drivers that are in the $OEM$ folder after method 1 on a CD by themselves for what you want, furthermore, fully extracting the drivers from the 7zip archives will result in over 1 gig of drivers.
nope.. that link is not accessable to me either.
The folder OEM is deliberately named - It implies that it is to be copied to the windows installation drive.
The same as the $OEM$ folder windows uses, however, we extract the archives from the OEM folder, not copy it, so it is similar yet quite different. The name OEM is therefore very descriptive and obviously deliberate to an experienced tech.
the mass storage archive also exists in OEM because the text mode versions of drivers are often very limited and are designed to be used only for partitioning and copying (as the name implies during text mode portion of set up only) and are usually not the full drivers that are actually used when plug and play loads for the windows OS.
The mass storage drivers in the OEM folder are the complete driver installations that windows requires to operate at full efficiency.
The only stupid question is the one never asked!
rewriteables use a more malleable metalic surface and it is suseptable to deforming or not holding the imprint as well or for as long.
This characteristic must exist in order to make it eraseable.
It also makes it harder to get a good write and less likely to hold for long periods.
the surface tends to flatten itself over time especialy if not kept cool.
Ever microwave a cd for a couple of seconds? - [not good for the microwave, but fun to watch]
I got intrigued and did some looking around for some stats that weren't just pulled out of thin air.

so it looks like you guys might be right Vista users have tripled since january!
of course 3 x .6 is still less than 2% which means about as many people are useing Vista as are still useing Windows 98
and one site reported 62,000,000 million users for XP - 2,000,000 million for 98 and 46 (4 dozen) for Vista.
(heck even win 95 still had 26,000 thousand users (although it puzzels me they even got on the net
))
I'm still with hilander we can wait till sp1 is out for Vista (after they are are done being sued by Lucent and the DRM gets flushed down the toilet.) and they have to totaly rewrite the core / kernel and have a 600 meg patch.
ROFL
I would like to point out here I have hated the initial release of every windows operating system that ever came out
and yes I mean starting with windows (before it even had a version) nov of 1983 - tried it - hated it - used dos 2 instead
(I long for the simplicity of dos 3.3)
I didnt see the directory ???
the rewritable media are not as reliable as WORM media. That is not unusual.
Never put backups or info you wish to store for long periods on rewritable.
@ muiz - i guess its done then - lol
- thanks Bâshrat the Sneaky i guess i missed the
in his post
I think te answer is obvious.
with a new install everything is created specificaly to the platform you installed on.
when you use an image the creation process is already done, and won't be done again.
perhaps RIS is your answer?
when I use ghost images I create a ghost image for each platform.
After we get the 64 bit drivers for XP and 2003
which we havent even started yet - my guess is 2008
or if hilander is right and vista flops like ME did then never
if the platforms both use the the same controller for the HDD it will work
if not you wont even get to safemode youll get the "7B" bsod error
(incorrect HDD driver)
you will have to cut and paste the contents into your post
use the code tags to keep it clean [ code] your pasted file contents here [ /code]
dont use spaces between the [ ] and you will get this
your pasted file contents hereits probably something to do with QSC and Method 1 or an error in the pack's ini, I'll look at the code and see if i can spot it
post your finisher log ? ? ?
I said it and I am sticking to it...
If it aint broke dont fix it...
why spend hours updating stuff that is working perfectly as is????
we are a small group of testers - that is my point too
the existing drivers in the packs however have been tested by thousands of people.
so what is better one that has been tested by thousands of people or an unknown?
Just so you can try to create a problem is the only answer i can come up with.
(if there was a performance increase that would be considered a valid reason
however he didn't say that his HDD was faster after the driver upgrade did he?)
better isn't a magic decision - if it adds HWID's then its worth it. if it addresses an existing issue then its worth it.
because there is a new one is not valid period....
and yes i think every driver that gets put in the pack should be tested - don't you?
what good is a driver pack that doesn't work???
because we are a small testing team is reinforcement of my point. a driver that is known good and tested by thousands of users is prefered to an unknown unless there is a GOOD reason.
a tested known good driver with no problems doesnt need to be replaced with an unknown quantity .
