Re: [Rel] DP Compaq Presario C710ED SATA Driver (15 replies, posted in 3rd Party DriverPacks)
As i suspected you did slipstream the mass storage text mode drivers from the DriverPacks mass storage pack.
so its not the 3rd party DriverPack that is finding your HDD in text mode, however the PnP driver does get picked up from your pack.
That is the way i would expect that it would and should work.
If you really were trying to cut down on your size (not that 28 meg is huge or anything) you could edit the mass storage pack and eliminate the un-needed drivers. i posted a link for that above.
there is a more detailed answer here...

please post your
DPs_BASE.ini
DPs_BASE.log
and HWID for the mass storage on your mini-PC
I am quite certain that textmode drivers are not added from a 3rd party DriverPack
TIA

Driverpacks installs KB888111 and always has - same for Ryan.
in fact Base looks to see if RyanVM has been installed so it doesn't have to be installed twice.
however if you do not install any of the official DriverPacks Sound packs we don't install the KB888111...
So i can only assume that you are not installing our sound packs nor are you useing the RVM Integrator.
PS no SP3 does not include KB888111
Please check out "read before you post" by Bâshrat the Sneaky in my signature.
It would help a lot if you included the minimum required details. (re #4)
Thanks for your input and feedback it is welcomed.

Re: How add massstorage driver for windows 2003 universally image!!!! (17 replies, posted in DriverPack Mass Storage)
you are able to edit the mass storage pack.
you can delete whatever folders you want
as long as you also delete the reference to the folder in the mass storage INI that is in the pack as well
i think this is what your asking... I am not certain...

I call the VMWare tools from a script, it's quite easy and effective.
The mass storage drivers are in the mass pack...
there's no need to put a lot of time in another method, is there?

Re: Vista driverpacks and slipstreamer (74 replies, posted in Vista-Tool)
So Vista is still a huge mess... typical for MS OS release.
i remember when they released 2000
and they did so with Sixty Four THOUSAND [64,000] KNOWN bugs
(plus the ones reported after release)
It is amazing Linux or someone like Sun/Solaris has not simply crushed them.
at some point their enemies will band together and make it happen. It's just a matter of them achieving critical mass.
Mac, Novel, Netscape, Citrix and a slew of others who have been victimized over the years.
if MS can't buy them they create a substitute and include it for free.
A slow and painful death for the competition and no viable recourse, at the very least it's heartless, at most it's evil.
I believe lack of third party software support for alternate Os's has been a stumbling block.
more and more software providers are now writing their apps for Linux / Mac (OS 10 is Linux based, and was written on an i386 PC)
I also believe that novel has jumped on the Linux bandwagon too.
They have a total lack of respect for, their users, the software providers that depend on them, and their competition.
I am a firm believer in what goes around comes around... it will happen in our lifetime.
Unfortunately there is no viable substitute to offer my clients, at least not today...
PS i still think Vista is destined to end up next to ME in the history books and I sincerely hope that 2009 brings happiness to all.

strange that it works in some instances and not others.

they are supposed to be in the changelog in the pack itself.
some of our newer contributers do not know they are supposed to update it.
and sometimes it just gets forgotten.
so they are mostly up to date and in the packs.
when a team member anounces that they have been repacked then the changelog should be current.

Re: Error with Mass Storage Driver (4 replies, posted in DriverPack Mass Storage)
you are correct only the folder you mentioned needs deleted
try two things please
turn off qsc and see if that cures it
see if you can find and zip or rar or whatever the file to verify it exists and is not corrupted.
Do you have plenty of free space on the drive/partition that base run from.

the standard IDE trick is a nice touch...
(I assume that you slipstreamed mass storage to your original source)
you can skip the SID step if you use ghost (it handles this internaly)

Re: Keeping The "Repair" Option In Windows Setup (11 replies, posted in Other)
you helped me
i was not aware that just the existence of the section header itself [unattended] would prevent the repair prompt.
it is very important to cleanup.
IE driverpacks is run multiple times on the same source. Then it must be removed before it can be added again.
Some of files are line edited some are backed up and restored in the process.
many hours of the code work in RC3 is spent on streamlining this particular section of the code.
many of the modules contained similar yet unique routines that are being consolidated into logical subroutines.
i believe the process will eliminate anomalies that show up as strange problems and eliminate some unreported ones.
for example the mass storage INI has drivers tagged as exceptions. skip / replace / disable
in 752 the INI for the current driverpack is used to remove the old mass storage drivers.
i now copy the current INI to i386 in this way the same exceptions are used as when it was installed.
90% of the time the exceptions are not changed or deleted, but if they did change the removal or restore could be affected.
IE if an existing driver was changed to skip in the mass INI it would not be removed before resliptreaming.
(and thus not really skipped at all) or if it was changed from replace to skip then it would not get restored. (and still would not be skipped)
this was unreported as a problem but i thought it should be fixed...
stuff like that and the restore option - which can be addressed while i am working on this section.
i think that it makes sense to avoid crippling windows features without any reason.

Re: Keeping The "Repair" Option In Windows Setup (11 replies, posted in Other)
thinking out loud...
if i move that line to the first part of the file
and
if the user selects m2 and guirunonce
(instead of runonceexe and or M1) then i would not need to set the OemPreinstall=Yes
if the user doesn't use nlite or otherwise set OemPreinstall=Yes
then repair will be offered and still work?
without haveing to edit anything themselfs

Yeah ... i don't understand... can you hold my hand please.
i guess i should find something i am good at to do...
Perhaps you should read other posts in the forum before you insult the admins intellegence on your second post.

RIS is cleaner easier quicker (to set up) more universal and more appropriate to what he asked for
and doesnt require any post imaging manual edits or steps and requires far less time to get to work properly.
and you said you use a bootable cd, which he clearly indicated was what he DID NOT WANT ==> "be not a bootable CD !!!"
Furthurmore you ignored the title of the thread he is not depolying XP so
your info is less than no help at all. It's misleading.
It isn't even on the correct topic... (how many laptops and pentium threes have you loaded with 2003 server?)
I don't think i am the one who is confused - or the one who doesn't understand... I am at least on the correct topic.
