MD5 check-sums are available on the overview page for each of the main packs now.

This version is primarily aimed at support of XP SP3 but we have a few other things included too.

----
Windows XP SP3 will be available to non-subscribers on 4/29 via Windows Update and Microsoft Download Center.
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/wind … 3a761.aspx

SP3 was delayed but base is out!

Zero reports of problems to date.
----

there has been much improvement to the process of running base more than once on a source.
with this version a near perfect uninstall should be possible
(assuming txtsetup and dosnet were not changed after the DriverPacks slipstream)
(<select none> of the boxes on the pack selection screen and slipstream)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Proxy support fixed - reported by Chiners

- None is now the default option for ATI control panel / center - idea submitted by mr_smartepants
And it  is a new selection in the GUI as well.
so now the DPs_BASE.ini supports CCC CCP and None

- I have implemented helmi's idea for a universal tag file for hotfix handling.
Adding a file named "IgnoreKB.DP" to the I386 folder will cause base to not add or remove hotfixes. (Ignored)
Add this switch BEFORE running DriverPacks Base on a source to prevent orphaned / lost entries in textsetup and dosnet.
base makes backups of these files which get restored by DP_Base on subsequent slipstreams.
(all post driverpack entries in those files will be lost when they are restored by base in the "prep" stage)
Hint 1: if you wish to add patches or hot fixes first remove driverpacks by selecting nothing on the pack selection screen and slipstream. then update your source and re-add Driverpacks. (Driverpacks still needs to be the last step)
Hint 2: you could just restore txtsetup.org and dosnet.org before adding patches... and then update the .org files after.
(this orphans textmode mass storage drivers in I386 but they will be removed/updated  when DP_Base is run again)

- I adjusted the code for uni2ansi to fix a reported issue with svcpack.inf. - submitted by Jaak

- I don't know if anyone even uses it - but the multibootdisk platform got totaly rewritten...

- Inspired by the work of one of our members, Wsnow.
DPinst is a redistributable MS file that recursively searches folders for drivers
Then DPI will update the local machines device drivers. Think of it as a mini setup for post installing drivers.
With this tool it is possible to update a machine with the driverpacks post install...
Including the finisher and KTD... very cool stuff.

Added support for the MS tool 'DPinst.exe' for M1 and M2
Run the DP_Install_Tool.cmd in the OEM (or $OEM$) folder.
With M2 files are extracted to the the HDD and then DPInst is run followed by the Finisher and KTD (if set)
With M1 files can be left on the CD/DVD (since they are already extracted) and DPInst will run directly from there.
DP_Install_Tool.cmd asks if you want finisher and KTD when it finds an M1 source so you can choose...
If you choose yes then the M1 drivers ARE copied to SystemDrive and DPInst is run from there.

- Finisher updated to eliminate the d\d\ error in KTD and to remove the DPInst files during cleanup.

- Fixed a problem user Kurt_Aust reported:
Just a minor GUI bug (held over from 7.05.2).
If you select "Custom" Finisher method, when you get to the settings review page it shows that you have selected "GUI RunOnce" Finisher method.

Fixed just now... Expect it to be in the next release..

We will make a note to disable a few more in mass...

I assume you know how to add the disable if OS tags to get yourself up and running?

Based on the description i think so... if not just ask...

Thanks for Following up!

Glad you stopped by for a lifeline! sorry we didnt have the answer...

(I guess now we do wink )

244 = Network Diagnostic

Is the data contained on line 183 and is not Driverpacks related...

I am planning on putting RC3 on the news page soon. and uni2ansi is fixed in that version.

We dont update the packs from third party vendors...

and we watch ATI and Nvidia closely... they don't need to be reported.

please see the post directly above yours in this forum.

That is awsome feedback sir! and you are the only one Who reported it!

If you like you can create a bug report... not required
but it is not an opportunity that comes up very often. wink

jeff

I agree the packs are always in a state of flux both by the team and by our users.

It is not feasable or desireable to include a hash check.

We rely on 7zip to report invalid archives. which obviously is not 100% foolproof. but what is...

I think that crippleing the ability of the user to customize the packs is not a good idea...
Even if there is an occasional problem.

the uni2ansi is fixed in base RC3 and is available to the testing team (not yet available to public)

you said the latest version - do you mean 80414RC which is the latest version?

if not then please specify your version. saying the latest version is not helpful to you or us...

thank you for your request and excellent info.

Welcome aboard!

link to oem driver download please?

Try to use code tags when appropriate...

he failed to provide the minimum info again...

this post has even less details than the first -
and they are a subset / repeat of the first post.

if you can't follow the rules (as outlined by Bâshrat the Sneaky in read BEFORE you post)

no DPs_BASE.ini
no DPs_BASE.log
no mention of base version
no mention of pack version
no mention if he tried redownloading
no mention if he is useing QSC or not and if it was cleared or not

Topic closed.

that is strange i would expect if the files sizes were wrong that 7zip would have errored on their checksum

DPs_BASE.log ?

see "Read BEFORE you post" in my signature below

provide a proper title and details.

you probably have a bad disk...

It is working for me now... but the server has been chokeing over the last week or so...
it's been reported to the host.

this looks like a dell modem did you try them... sometimes dell devices require the dell driver...

did you look in device manager to see what the conflict was?
IE do you have two com 1's ?  Or is the interupt shared?
are you useing fax software that is siezing the device?

You want help - then help yourself, by describing the problem --- in detail ---
you have posted three times and have yet to tell us what OS this is for
2k? XP? 2K3? Vista?
did you use DriverPacks?
If so waht packs and Base version
is this a clean load. did the device come with the machine
what type of machine. other software running.

We are not mind readers...

this is like a drunk calling for a cab and then hanging up before giving the cabbie the address.

we do not find drivers for people nor do we repair PC's on this forum.
we provide bulk drivers. if you find that a driver is not in the pack it is up to you to find and report that driver.
If a driver fails to install it is up to you to discover why.  (we don't have one of your modems to play with)
if you wish to share your fix please do.

if you just want free tech support (my guess at this point) at least provide a decent description of the problem.
and act like you know the divverence between a modem and your shoe.

You can get help here - we often do go beyond the scope of the forum
but you must at least give a good description.
had you not said please and thank you i would have deleted this topic already.

PS "if i had a nickel" wink   PSS jeff doesn't recomend junk, lol

I was going to say Welcome Lag... but who welcomes lag? wink
Glad your here ??? hmmm... this is not going well... wink

Hello from DriverPacks.net ! big_smile

Try deleteing the folder

D:\Windows XP\Driverpack\QSC\wnt5_x86-32_uni_DP_MassStorage_804_textmode\

make sure you have a good amount of free disk space and try again.

If the problem persists try it with QSC off.
Either way please report so we may be able to help you
and perhaps others who may be in the same boat.

Please include your DPs_BASE.ini (in code tags) with any posts reporting a problem.
(details in "read before you post" below)
PS You did pick a very good title however you did not mention which base version in your post.

@binary64

I don't think the database idea will happen with driverpacks.

the worst part of your idea is what if the NIC driver is the one that is needed?

1)
The program you describe would require us to allow leeching of our files. We block Leeches...
and not just because it's potentialy rude.
We think it is important for people to read the change logs and release notes.

2)
maintaining a database of single drivers and updateing it would require a lot of time for someone.
It is tough for us just to find people who can add drivers let alone keep them syncronized with a database.
the packs include the ability to index the contents (the INI file) but again someone has to populate it.
not to mention the time to recode the base. (are you willing to take on any of these tasks yourself?)

3)
The functionality you require can be had useing existing methods.
extract drivers to a disk (CD - DVD - HDD - Network Share) and run DPinst.exe.
If the space is really an issue for you you can use Base in M1 mode to cab comress them.
(just ignore the xp install and take the $OEM$\$1\ folder for your use.)
the base packs are 300MB 7z or 500MB Cabbed or 1.5GB extracted.
so you can see cabbing is very effective too and windows uses cabbed drivers natively.
the first time you run M1 the QSC needs to be built and it may take a long time.
details and instructions here http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?id=2264

Running dpinst against a local source makes a lot more sense, on many levels not just the NIC issue.
you could run dpinst anytime, even on startup as you suggested.
The obvious advantages of a local repository are numerous starting with
it could be totaly customized to a site or machine type(s).
(hint: third party packs get cabbed in M1 too)

Jaak is correct that the RC3 version of base includes support for DPInst and is available to the testing team now.

minimum you have to do is successfully run presetup.cmd before you run winnt32 (which means :\OEM\ must be available)

this is not a supported method atm so you may not get many responses.

can you please download the HWID's tool in my signature and run the following line from teh folder created by extracting?

devcon hwids =SCSIAdapter > temp.txt & notepad temp.txt

If you can Post the result here it may help us to resolve this issue for you and others...

thanks

WPI     Windows Post Installer   http://www.wpiw.net/

as far as i know the only program that causes issue is .net because it is a .net based app.
since i slip .net into my installation this is no problem.

hundreds of applications are already documented on how to automate them for unattended / silent installs
i currently have around 100 apps in the menu and several reconfigured selections besides the default.
It has a count down timer i set it to 3 minutes after which the default config is installed (unattended with option to modify)

the default config can be shuffled with a script and the gui timeout set to 1 sec for multiple setups.

i use one disk to setup multiple clients. i just set the config that is appropriate to them and it only installs the apps they have licenses for and that they specifically require.

It is a most excellent and versatile tool

and check out our good friends at MSFN for switches for your apps http://www.msfn.org/board/Application-Installs-f80.html

i don't just say "i hate sysprep" because i like the way it looks in print.

anything you can do with sysprep i can do in half the time without it.

jaak said the test results were the same almost to the minute... he tried this last night
