there are going to be lots of intel updates si9nce thier new chipsets roll out in June normaly

june july and august are riddled with updates and patches every year...

i keep trying to tell you guys to wait till the dust settles. but it is your time to waste wink .

I prefer stable packs -
the first intel drivers that roll out in june / july never are...
just as they were not this year... and will not be next year.

NEWER is NOT always BETTER... and more often than not it is worse.

if a drive is up for a month or more and doesn't get patched then it is starting to look good for us...
we could certainly put every release in a nightly but that just makes our hardowrking team members chase thier tails adding drivers with bugs only to have to redo this work a week later when  the patches roll out for the reported bugs.

Stable is prefered to current every time.

Most of the time the people who want the newer driver dont even know WHY they want it.
IE they dont have a probvlem with the existing driver AND they dont even know what teh new driver does that the old one didn't

for 80% of the requests they just want to see the higher version number - or to be able to brag that they saw it first...
If you are not suffereing from a problem with the old driver what is the rush to get the new one?

the driver is not miraculusly going to double your pc's speed or fix that pesky memory leak or add 50% to your frame rate in that particular game or in the case of this one its not gooing to reduce your ping time to the server.

so really waht you want us to do is
take a rock solid version of the driver and replace it with one that may be bugged
and you want us to do this for no good reason what so ever - or perhaps for no reason at all

Chill out on the requests for drivers we know when they are there (and we knew before you did)

we will let you know when a driver is ready for the packs.

have a nice day

PS i realize the three of you have been here a while and i luv you guys... your not who i wrote this for wink
i think it is better i slip this in here than to blast a noob with it big_smile

did it copy all the files to your drive?
Look for the \D\ folder and the finisher and dpinst files in the root folder (probably c:\)

We don't support warez like "Reloaded"

don't ever forget...

wherever you go...

there you are!

we had a heck of a time with this one last time there were three different installers rolled into one driver.

and we needed testers with an audigy and X-Fi and a Live card to make sure finisher was installing correctly

we had like four people on it for a week... i Know you have an audigy we need a tester with an X-Fi and a Live now...

I am really enjoying this... big_smile

If you can get the graphics packs to swallow this pill
then they are as solid as they ever will be...

Excellent Question...

the short answer is that the mass storage drivers are slipstreamed into the installation media.
the packs are simply in a location that the windows setup can find.

Some Detail

there are three stages of setup ; Textmode, WinPE (Windows Preinstallation Environment), GUI

In Textmode only the OEM and slipstreamed drivers are available
(the drivers that are natively included with the MS Windows OEM disk)
the Textmode drivers are, and only need to be, the basic ones required to find the HDD.
so the files required for WinPE can be copied to the HDD.

first reboot takes us to WinPE stage which is where the main drivers are installed by setup.
so we pause the Setup program long enough to add the packs into setups search path.
then we allow setup to run and add the drivers.

all this being true we only slipstream the mass storage drivers
the only pack we need for textmode setup to complete successfully

but there is more...
mass storage drivers have two parts, a text mode driver, and a PnP driver
so mass storage must be slipstreamed for textmode and available to the WinPE stage to so the text mode driver can be upgraded to its PnP 32bit counterpart.

does that help?

LOL it didn't work when you installed an ATI  AND an Nvidia card at the same time LOL

Well your my kind of tester - hard core... rofl   well done

I just wish i had thought of it ... hee hee wink

you truely are the man!

I am not sure without you provideing us with its HWID...

I dont think so... but not a big deal if you give us the hwid and a link to the driver we will add it!

Welcome to DriverPacks and thanks for stopping by

see the FAQ section for SAD disk and remember you only need the sound pack wink

did you use method 2

if so did you copy the OEM folder, or just the contents, you need to have the entire OEM folder in the root of the drive ( or CD )

did you use method 1?

if so the d\ folder must be in the root of the drive (or CD)
and m1 needs the dpinst files and script in the root of the drive too

Thanks so much for stopping by and saying such nice things.

Bâshrat the Sneaky and the team of people that work so hard, for free, to make DriverPacks work all like to hear kind words like yours.

RE BTW, 1 more suggestion for the program. A 1 button press that would autoselect all packs, unpack them, and autoinstall them.

please see the FAQ topics for SAD disk... wink

We offer that already wink

BartPE can be used to boot from a usb HDD or memory stick if the gios supports usb boot devices.

and i thought i was old wink
rats i have a turntable too,
i still am (sadly) lol

It would be if we had to pay for the service wink
they donate our space in trade for a few banners and the exposure we have to offer.

as Bâshrat the Sneaky said clearly in the first post... "SimpleCDN is sponsoring all downloads of DriverPacks.net!"

So it already is on a free site big_smile (Free for DriverPacks anyway)

When he originaly looked at this it was not going to cost that much even at thier full price.

http://www.simplecdn.com/pricing

from the chart you can see that the packs would have incured a one time (lifetime) fee to upload a pack
they mirror it they back it up and they deliver at blazing speeds... no limits on bandwith (and no hidden fees or other charges)
Wow!

we were looking at 4 ~ 9 USD per pack that is a "released" version
(nightlies are kept elsewhere)

But not only do these guys sell a service dirt cheap that just rocks -
they also are supporting our project because simple CDN the company rocks too wink

I agree with; why would Wim even consider _______ fill in the blank...

woo hoo... and way before sunday too smile

can you link us to the one that worked for you and post your hwid's

thanks for reporting!

OOoopps hwids posted already

Re: I propose

It will ultimately make the most sense to bundle them in the same manner as the OEM's provide them. wink

i like the idea of seperation where it will not cause extra work to maintain the packs. we would not use such long file names though. wink

good job! smile

did you try muiz's Vista packs with it yet?

OK here is the short story...
your HDD is HWID PCI\VEN_1106&DEV_0571&SUBSYS_05711106 that is a VIA Bus Master IDE Controller

we have the driver that supports your disk included - - - actually i am surprized it is not detected by an OEM XP disk this is a generic controler.

I have seen issues before when people had a Generic card Reader Device connected
i wonder if the problem goes away if you disconect your printer?

I wonder if you create a 3rd party DriverPack for your printer if it goes away...? http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?id=279

you add your apps with WPI    Windows Post Installer

windows updates and such with nLite

i do this i copy xp to a folder like c:\XPSP3\
then i use nLite to integrate sp3
then i COPY c:\XPSP3\ to c:\XPRVM (never work on your original files always on a copy)
i use Ryan VM Integrator to add some updates and addons like IE7 -
(onepiece_windows_xp_post-sp3_updatepack and RED_XP_SP3_UpdatePack both have a decent update pack for use with RVM Integrator)
then i copy c:\XPRVM to c:\XPnLite (always a copy)
then i run nlite and set all my unattended settings so i don't get bothered with any silly questions (i hate that)
--- hint save your settings and leave nLite open at the create bootable iso page ---
then i Run DriverPacks
then i return to nLite and hit burn baby burn!

then i rename c:\XPnLite to c:\XP08-0729

Then i test my ISO right off the HDD in a Virtual Machine (VM) like VMWare or Virtual PC or Virtual Box
then i will either add wpi and retest or i will burn a CD/DVD and test again in VM (this time with my burned disk)

then i am ready for a live test on a machine.

the best guide in the world is at http://MSFN.ORG
http://unattended.msfn.org/unattended.x … 73bcfbd02/
It has three sections Noob... intermediate... and advanced...
we all use it and refer people to it all the time -

you have shown me you can do quite well with a nudge so... there you go
we mostly cater to sys admins IT pros and other advanced users, but, since you are polite good humored and willing...

most of the questions you have now are well covered at msfn - read the table of contents at least wink

As i said,
you are in the home stretch now!
as the pieces come together for you you may become hooked...
...like we are wink

Have fun
