not all the files are being copied... hmmm

does OEM\DPINST.exe exist?

(61 replies, posted in Feedback and Support - DriverPacks Base)

nope you should find them in the root folder of the OS drive (typicaly C:\) after running DP_Install_Tool.cmd

IE after running the tool you should have (assumeing C: is %SystemDrive%)

c:\D\
c:\devcon
c:\dpinst.exe
ect...

Which method are you useing?
$OEM$ extracted / cab compressed
or
OEM   7zipped DriverPacks

well the problem is not MS this time (hard to belive eh...)

it is th fact that hardware providers have not figured out how to correctly use HWID's
they allow more than one piece of hardware to share a HWID with another (very bad)
they also use the same filenames for "new" drivers that no longer support the old hardware ID's
(if you are going to drop support forr a HWID then you must change all the file names too - silly OEM's, Tricks are for kids)

well on second thought it is partialy MS fault for giving out WHQL to drivers that conflict with thier own older versions
not a very thorough testing team at MS to allow such glareing errors to get past them time and time again. wink

please see the tutorial in my signature and read the SAD disk topic in our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) forum.
also see the "read BEFORE you post" in my signature.

we do not support products by manufacturer and model. We provide all inclusive packs.
by using our method (nearly) all hardware is supported. if after you use DriverPacks if you find a device that is not included YOU must submit that device (name) with its HWID (tool in my sig), and a link to a known good (working) driver is considered polite.

We do not support the type of request you have made... (I need a driver for a ____...)
please familiarize yourself with the DriverPacks (and use them) and i think you will find your problems are solved
this forum is primarily for support of the DriverPacks - IE if your not useing DriverPacks, no support available. wink

Well you have discovered the reason we are so popular wink

If it were easy, everyone would be doing it...

there is not a set of instructions that will work in every case...
we use a variety of solutions to address identical names, all with varied degrees of adverse side effects
do some searches here for SI3112 or Nvidia to see what i mean. (the battle for Silicon Hill has been raging for years.)

perhaps you can help us tongue wink

PS we don't use Unattend.txt or TxtSetup.oem but there are similarities to txtsetup.sif and winnt.sif
you may get some ideas/help by looking at the mass storage tutorial (how to make a mass storage pack)
http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?id=2461
{ why is it people  NEVER  bother to read the FAQ before posting?... } grrr

well the two i was refering to were...

1 Double click on DP_Install_Tool.cmd on the ODD   (Optical Disk Drive ie CD / DVD) {could be your local HDD too}
   - this works with the extracted or cabbed drivers if they are in \$OEM$\$1\D
(obviously including the OEM\bin\*.* folder  and OEM\dpinst.* and  OEM\DP_Install_Tool.cmd, as listed above)
  - this works with the DriverPacks as downloaded if they are in the OEM folder
(obviously including the OEM\bin\*.* folder  and OEM\dpinst.* and  OEM\DP_Install_Tool.cmd, as listed above)

2 Double click on the DPINST.exe
***NOTE*** this only works if the drivers are extracted to a folder called \D\
IE  If our ODD (or HDD) is D:\ and has the following layout

    -D:\D\{extracted or cab compressed driverpacks}
     D:\DPINST.exe
     D:\DPInst.xml

Nice setup sir... sounds fast... I really like Gigabyte MBs they are solid and their support is excellent too.

did you check your BIOS version to see if it was current... looks like   F8   is the latest BIOS posted
perhaps just doing a cmos clear will put you "In the Clear" wink
I am quite certain that the good folks over at GigaByte will help you if you ask them - i have had good results. big_smile

Is it possable for you to kill the MBR on the non raid drive to force the first RAID partition to boot?

--- I have assumed we are talking abut a Hardware based RAID array ---

I think i would put the OS on the non raid HDD,
thus improveing perfomance on the stripe and separateing OS/DATA to seperate physical media
(with SCSI... i could be 'forced' into doing the os and data on the same array IE at gunpoint wink )
sounds like they are trying to lead the horse to water LOL wink

the script looks for either OEM\bin\7zip or $OEM$\$1\D\
if it finds neither it fails and exits. anouncing;

" The DriverPacks were not found ??? "
   -      implied, can not continue...  -

the finisher does all the cleanup as part of it's function
- if you run it, it will remove all traces of the DriverPacks
and the finisher itself gets removed after your first reboot.

the finisher uses the INI's to identify drivers that have software to be (Co)installed
IE the graphics INI has an entry that runs the ATI control panel
(but only if an ATI card is installed in the machine)

INIU has convienient office hours to review any course related material, even the basics  wink

i have two hans... a left and a right! tongue

it appears to have stalled at adding the mass storage driver entries to the dosnet and txtsetup files.

the only thing that i can think of is that the DriverPack MassStorage ini is corrupted... just my best guess ATM

Glad we could help big_smile

I hope you have an awsome day!

try this...

edit your  DP_Install_Tool.cmd  near the end of the file add "REM " in front of the finisher line

IE

:Main
Echo.
Echo Running MicroSoft DPinst.exe now!
%SystemDrive%\DPINST.exe /c /s
Echo.
Echo Running the DriverPacks.net Finisher now!
REM    %SystemDrive%\DPsFnshr.exe

that will keep the finisher from cleaning up (deleteing) the files from C:\
then you could look and see if devcon and DriverPacks Finisher are there
(the packs should also be there in the C:\D\ folder)

PS you can also run the DPINST tool manually by double clicking on it
- after you REMark the finisher line in the script and have run it one time - wink

if they are there ... hmm then it would seem that they are not being copied to the system drive
( C:\devcon  did not exist when the finisher ran)

but it looked like that dpinst.exe found all the packs and ran your hardware against them.

IE - the drivers should have been updated, even if the finisher was missing a file or two.

we might just get a FAQ for the finisher out of this thread...

my thanks to you since INIU is nothing without its student body... tongue

well i have a clue already since it says that the devcon and the INI are missing i must assume that you didnt copy the OEM\bin\ folder to your disk.

you must have all files and folders from the OEM folder present, not just the packs.

we need the following files (at least)

-OEM
     -BIN
       7-zip32.dll
       DevPath.exe
       DPsFnshr.7z
       DPsFnshr.ini
       un7zip.exe
DriverPacks (One or All)
DPINST.exe
DPInst.xml
DP_Install_Tool.cmd

tutorial in my signature... wink

you might also take a look at the FAQ section?

oh... but there is... a very good one in fact...

http://unattended.msfn.org/unattended.x … 3d2d1313c/

it has a beginner section an intermediate and an advanced section plus a reference guide...

i think it is the;
"one set of instructions that are truly understandable to someone who lacks the requisite knowledge that all of you have"

and then some... wink

have a great day

7yler...

What can I say
that  is a very strong first post... step up and offer a completed pack to another user.

VERY well done! big_smile

Welcome to DriverPacks we are very glad your here and thanks for giving back to the community.

have an awesome day!  and,  Welcome to the forum!

jeff

we like shorter paths!!! and combined drivers big_smile

Good teamwork guys... That is the spirit that "drives" us

LOL tongue   (sorry...) Rofl...

i also am not sure that /v/qn is a valid switch for a normal msi installer.

try these too which should work for a regular MSI...

/qn
/quiet
/qb
/passive

for full logging try adding
/lv  ( /  "L"  v)
IE "%DPSROOT%\D\3\BT\setup.exe /passive /lv C:\stupid_BT_driver.log"

It looks like the setup includes a firmware upgrade too... interesting... looks like toshiba wrote it...
try launching the msi directly with %DPSROOT%\D\3\BT\BtSwInst.msi /qb and see if that works for you...

there is a rumor over in 3rd party DriverPack forum that the blue-tooth have multiple standards and were tempermental
and were abandoned as eligeble for a pack...

you should be able to get a single driver in a custom pack though... hmmm

are you sure the exe is getting called?

did you try it without the command line switches?  IE "%DPSROOT%\D\3\BT\setup.exe"
to see if it launched in attended mode?

did you try running      "c:\D\3\BT\setup.exe" /S /v/qn        from a command line?
did you try "%DPSROOT%\D\3\BT\setup.exe" /S /v/qn       from the finisher?
or """%DPSROOT%\D\3\BT\setup.exe"" /S /v/qn" ?
or ""%DPSROOT%\D\3\BT\setup.exe" /S /v/qn" ?
or """%DPSROOT%\D\3\BT\setup.exe"" /S /v/qn" ?

you might add the log switch
           Logging Options
                /le <LogFile>
    e - All error messages

IE "%DPSROOT%\D\3\BT\setup.exe" /S /v/qn /le %SystemRoot%\BTinst.log ?

you can run the finisher over and over - simply use the directions for a SAD disk and only put your BT 3rd party DriverPack in the OEM folder instead of all the packs wink

IE copy your OEM folder to the Local HDD (creating C:\OEM\) delete the main packs... except your BT Pack
and run the DP_Install_Tool.cmd as many times as neccessary till you got it workin wink

how about that for a shortcut to test the finisher ?
