Oh...
i did not know that, cool... nice work mr_smartepants
yet another tidbit for IU...
how much faster was the self extracting 7z files?
I belive they show a progress bar when they extract?
perhaps we can have speed and a progress bar...
i thought you just got back from vacation... LOL
I belive it was like a big beach or somthing... rofl
Wow,
it is good news that we know (basicaly) what the problem is...
am i to understand that the driver fails on BOTH SP2 and SP3 ???
not for sure... i can offer you this
we get in the neiborhood of 32,000 downloads a day
No one else has reported an issue... it would seem the issue is on your end.
got to get up pretty early in the morning to beat jake to the intel files
your right about recompressing files... best compression is attained by 7zipping all raw files
is that somthing we could add to a folder (its own perhaps) then call from the finisher useing +hwids ?
Wow someone actually said PLEASE
thud... (falls out of chair) LOL
i wish everyone had such good manners
it makes it so much more appealing to address requests when they show respect and/or common courtesy.
Thank you!
we had a ton of complaints when we didn't have one...
mostly along the lines of "it is so frustrating i dont know if the install is hung or stalled or working or what..."
"REQ we need a progress bar!"
far more than the one post about shaving one minute off the install
personaly i dont care how long an UNATTENDED install takes... i dont have to be there
within reason...
so my install takes 19 minutes instead of 20...
now if you could cut that number in half say you could shave ten minutes... i might think it was cool...
just my Opinion...
IDK if the manager is included it could be added easily if not...
check the mass storage INI for a setup call (in the section for your driver... { [I3] or whatever section it is } )
I don't think it is included - if i am right then you could submit a request
again...
I think i put documents and settings on the stripe with the data and programs
Raid stripe volume 320+320 = 600+/- D: drive
doc and sett
Prog files
Data
map documents and settings and program files to D: through unattended setup
use the hitachi for OS non raid keep a ghost copy or have a UXPCD ready to go for it.
load os on a small volume on this drive
use the remaining space to create a second partition (read 'volume') FIRST create a static size swapfile (unfragmented) then use the remaining space for backup of data and Docs and Settings in this way your external drive will be a third copy and three copies in the hand is better than two in the bush
I am sure someone will disagree but that is what i would do...
your DriverPacks hero of the day...
Thanks for giving back!
thanks man... don't use rapid share though
see this post... http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?id=329
submit your HWID's using the tool in our signatures.
someone may help you... or not
we support DriverPacks here and you are not using DriverPacks... therefore you're not eligible for support
furthermore we integrate the packs into the install so all hardware is supported for every machine
we don't provide support per machine - we support all machines
If you use DriverPacks and find that a driver is not included it is up to you to tell us it is not there and provide that driver for us.
If you do we will add it and it will be in the next pack. in this way not only you benefit but everyone else with your hardware.
we consider it selfish to ask us to support just your machine.
the changelog is right here...
all 190 posts of it
there is no I in INIU (or was that there's no i in team) LOL
as a comunity we are at our strongest
good questions lead to good answers, and that leads to documentation.
the wealth of knowledge here is tremendous... but is not complete, and you (all of you reading) are a part of that wealth.
INIU is all about the YOU (er "U") !
shoot me an email... from the link in my signature
As a mod or as an admin we can edit our posts without it sying "last edited by" NAME TIME
your probably not loosing your mind
yes i am Jeff and am the current coder for DriverPacks base and i'm an oldtimer
the mass storage ini is the key to what you are trying to do renameing like named files so they can coexist.
the base program uses the TAG name in teh ini to choose what name to use when they are injected...
it is VERY IMPORTANT to note this only applies to TEXTMODE setup. the PNP drivers must be as they are proveded from the OEM. or they will fail with a 7B BSOD after the reboot into the WinPE phase of setup. so you need two copys of the drivers one for textmode (injeced into the I386 folder and txtsetup.sif) and an original copy that is in the oempnp search path.
taht should get you started..
WOW...
OK your install is not "finishing" properly
the DriverPacks Finisher should delete %SystemRoot%\D\ and
all the DriverPacks related files in %SystemRoot%
(the ini's the dpinst tool mute.exe ect..)
does this happen?
does %SystemRoot%\DPsFnshr.exe exist?
if you run it does it clean everything up?
please see read before you post in my sig.
you failed to mention base ver... major oops but i assume 8.x, or show log... no biggie this time but the log has teh base ver included.
tell us a little more about your process IE Ryanvm then nlite then DriverPacks - the finisher is called from guirunonce - ect...
Glad to help in any way i can - thanks for asking
this should do what you want it to do "right out of the box"
yay i fixed something! lol
INIU classes in mass storage 101 starting daily!
that should cause all the files to arrive in c:\
- yes i belive we tried this and it should work...
DOES it work when you run the tool / script from c:\OEM\ ?
(you can watch it run or use the "pause" technique - IE rem the finisher line in the script)
the raid is made up of two drives in a stripe if one of those fails you loose everything OS and data.
(they are on the same physical disks)
if you put the OS on the non raid and it dies the data is still intact - or if a raid disk dies your OS is still intact.
The OS drive speed is not really a hinderence since once windows is loaded there is not a huge amount of speed needed.
most of the disk activity after loading is APPS and DATA (which we wizely put on the stripe) now the swap file will get pounded but we could move that to the stripe easily, BUT... read whats next.
lets say you are doing your setup both OS and Data on the stripe. and programs are on C and data is on D
You load autocad the program loads from c:\program files\ and the data from d:\ACAD\Data.
your speed is shot because we can only read the data from one partition at a time. so either the OS is waiting for the DATA to be read so it can have its turn or the DATA is waiting for the OS/SWAPfile to be done so it can have its turn.
this is where the true power of SCSI HDDs come to light of day - Simultanious access to multiple physical locations on the same Physical Media - IE two partitions on one stripe is still ONE physiscal media.
by putting the OS on the non raid and data on the raid you have effectively added the throughput together.
raid throughput and nonraid throughput can happen simultaniously
rather than seqentialy accessing the multiple partitions on the same Phys HDD
PS i think you would have to use a utility to delete the MBR - IE fdisk or disk manager - a partition utility
PS you could put two stripes in the machine one for OS and one for data
(you will have to add a HDD, but so what a couple of 80g drives are dirt cheap and more than you will ever need for the OS)
helpful?
now i know what is wrong!!! woo hoo...
run DP_Install_Tool.cmd from the CD/DVD and let the script copy the files to the HDD
or run the DP_Install_Tool.cmd from c:\OEM\DP_Install_Tool.cmd after your manual copy. ps this is not neccessary - to copy manualy to the HDD - but will work just fine...
that should cure your problems
i thougth i saw a little light bulb come on...
the 'AHA' moment... ding...
that refers to folders on the source disk not on the destination machine.
IE the problems occur after the copy to the dest not at their locations on the source disk
