Thanks to you both!
I will get this in the next version
I closed Altan's bugtraker report for you Kenan.
lets see your DPs_BASE.log
I think he pretty much just agreed with me...
you cant integrate the DriverPacks with nlite... not and have all the drivers work correctly
(He clearly states this in his post)
If you have a certain machine and you want to integrate just the drivers for that machine - then use nlite.
the DriverPacks are meant to compliment nLite if you simply use them by integrateing with DriverPacks BASE... that works the best !
and you don't have to do anything manually at all
and it doesn't take up a huge amount of space either.
If you were going to use the SAD option there is absolutely no reason to add them with nLite...
(that would be redundant - why would we want to install them twice?)
if you are going to use SAD you would either
integrate mass storage with base
or
integrate only your needed (OEM textmode) mass storage drivers with nlite
then run SAD (to be renamed SoFI) whenever you wish
understood
value = parameters\PnpInterface,5,REG_DWORD,1
is not addressed ...
bus extenders are addressed and have been for some time...
Thank you debugger -
as you stated - this is well known info
an we should not loose sight of it...
It's awsome to see you ! i though you fell in a hole... ![]()
There is no I5 folder in mass 805???
did you check your heatsinks and fans - reseat cards and ram... thumb cables ect...
will have to forward that problem to Bâshrat the Sneaky... thanks for reporting!
(i belive that is related to dreamhost which we are migrateing away from
)
Sam... why did you stomp on this guys post?
does it only happen with jaws' app?
Thanks again... i will get this added!
you can't...
not useing nLite anyway...
when you are done with nlite (and any other changes you wish to make)
then follow the directions contained in the dp_base tutorial in my signature...
here is a guide for Noobs... http://unattended.msfn.org/unattended.x … 512f1ac37/
Which pack(s) please...
DUH... blonde moment sorry fixing now
...
all the graphics packs should now be on the new system
the issue should now also be resolved for DriverPack Graphics A and DriverPack Graphics B
DriverPack Graphics C should have come on line about thesame time as Bâshrat the Sneaky post above...
and my OLD ones with the big DIN?
![]()
the issue should be resolved... see related posts here...
http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?id=3157 - thread start
http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic. … 613#p25613 - Bâshrat the Sneaky marked [SOLVED]
if you are still having trouble let me know (IE which pack)
Thanks to Bâshrat the Sneaky there are now some additional steps i am now able to take to resolve this.
Both DreamHost and SimpleCDN were to blame going forward the changes i can now make will phase out DreamHost *completely* and they are (and have been) the source of 90% of our issues.
Bâshrat the Sneaky said
"DreamHost put the site off line after 143 GB of traffic over a time frame of 3 days. While I'm entitled to > 6 TB per month."
so far only DriverPack Graphics C is migrated to the new version of SimpleCDN I will move the others as need arises.
(again you need to tell me which pack failed)
ps this is OT for this thread
Please add all new posts related to download issues to the other thread
TIA jeff
you want to keep makepnf for what you do (you do this like i do)
PNF's made simple:
It's a "catalog cache" of the currently available drivers, a table of contents if you will.
windows will check the PNF files first before doing a full blown search or the hardware wizard ![]()
if you are old enough you may remember window 98 say building a driver information database I belive this is an extention of that...
this is a speed increase for finding drivers for new hardware (and possably input reduction)
when you prepare your image don't let the finisher run... !
this will leave the drivers in place and ready to go
(make pnf has been done and so has the PnP search path in the registry)
Run the finisher at deployment on the target machine ![]()
this will install any required control panels or other required software
and then remove the driverpacks and clean up reg entries ect...
old method
I used to do this manually after checking device manager...
and then make "per machine type" image if i had some identical machines.
a better idea is to
simply set a runonceex or guirunonce command...
copy the DPINST.exe and DPInst.xml files to the \D\ folder
(they are in the dp_base\bin\wnt5_x86-32 folder)
1) call dpinst.exe /c /s /sh
2) call the finisher
since most imaging software do compression creating the image haveing the packs extracted is NBD.
You could use the Stand Alone Drivers (SAD) platform feature of base.
This will be a far superior way to do this...
We are still in beta testing on this feature though.
and it has a few rough edges still - but not for long!
(i am going to rename SAD to SoFI Software First Installer... )
And if the topic for jaws' tool has been stickied for that time, if it was so screwed by that time someone would already have replied, wouldn't it?
only if someone used it...
- as i said i think youre the first one other than him that has used it
at least that is the way it appears.... but people only post when they have an issue...
so either it is perfect... or no one uses it...
Perhaps now you can see why it is so important to report EITHER WAY.
It may even be More important to post that it worked than to post that it did not!
(IE if we had a hundred posts saying it worked... we would not be guessing right now would we?)
we still have a few bugs in the SAD we are ironing out...
but if you check http://driverpacks.net and look at the second artical base 8.09
it includes the SAD (Stand Alone Drivers) platform
- I think i am going to rename this SoFI (pronounced like the girls name) So_ftware F_irst I_nstaller
you can try that version for now... it should work just fine
as i said we have a few changes to address but if you have an issue or are interested in testing i can get the latest version to you... once i write it... it is in process... ![]()
but let me tell you this is one nice piece of a program!
around here, we are up to our knees in really sharp people like jaws... ![]()
if you choose to use a third party tool always post in that thread...
DriverPacks works (nearly) every time... and doesn't stop for user input at all...
the best thing for you to do is to use DriverPacks "disc" method to integrate your drivers into your source.
(drivers first install)
the next best thing for you to do is to use the Stand Alone Drivers (SAD) feature of base.
(software first install)
you might also have used warm snows app and not jaws app...
The best solution is always to use the tools we provide directly - when you have a choice...
The entire point of jaws tool is to stop for user input (something we do not support)
His idea was " It would be nice to be able to Skip some of the packs for certain machines "
we disagree with this idea because our philosophy is to "Unattendedly Provide All Drivers all the time"
Personally i belive more time is lost waiting for user input or missing a driver (because you really did need that one you skipped) than would ever be gained by skipping a pack ![]()
If we ever add attended setup support - then this type of tool may be added - we don't yet support attended setup.
you may also have noticed in the three months it has been posted his thread has only had two posts that are not the team or him and one of those two is you... ![]()
adding the driver to the packs is a quick fix...
well... it is If you have done it before ![]()
if you havent we have a tutorial
http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?id=2461
but it reads like the directions to build a nuclear sub. ![]()
its not nearly as hard as it sounds ![]()
thanks for the link
one of the team mebers will probably drop you a link to a test version very soon.
Have a great day and thanks again for reporting!
Wow...
you're welcome!
have a geat day and i hope we see you around!
this is easy to address - we can have both drivers ![]()
We have to deal with this type of issue everyday and know exactly what must be done ![]()
Please save the team a minute or two and give us a link to the latest driver
(your tested known good driver), and we will add it... NP
would you be willing to test a nightly pack (beta) ?
Thanks for reporting...
Updated your Title...
It is always nice to hear "it worked"...
thanks a million!
Are you saying your network card will not disconnect? (is this really a problem?)
