Topic: How do I integrate sound A?

Hello there,

Great iniative to include all drivers into one slipstreamer! I am trying to integrate the sound A driverpack because I need the Realtek AC97 driver. I downloaded the base and the driverpack, but I am not sure how to integrate them. In the BASEprogram I can´t check (or uncheck) any driverpack, do I have to put this driverpack somewhere? Sorry for the beginners question, but I can´t find any guide for this either. Thanks for any help.

Re: How do I integrate sound A?

Unpack the base to a folder, lets say : D:\drivers
After unpacking there wil be a few folders , one of them is named "Driverpacks"
Copy the driverpacks to this folder( Do not unpack them )
Then start the base and point to your folder whith your XP.
I think from here you can do this yourself, if not let me know.

Re: How do I integrate sound A?

Thanks muiz, integration of the drivers went well (I think). Two problems I know of have occure after installation in VMware.

1) My svcpack.inf, where I stored update information is gone, so updates aren´t installed. Can I just place it back?
2) I integrated media center (before integration of driverpack), when I start it, it displays an error message. See below:

http://www.forreal.nl/onzin/crash.JPG

Finally two questions:
1) Is there a way to check if it installed right in VMware? Obviously VMware doesn´t simulate the real Realtek hardware.
2) Can I remove all other drivers from the updatepack, because I only need the realtek driver. If this is possible, how do I do this. In other words: How do I find out which files are for the Realtek driver?

Thanks.

Re: How do I integrate sound A?

Ok first of all the error you posted is MCE ( Media center )
There is no way to integrate  Media Center, either you have XP or you have MCE.
And if you mean the updates for MCE...thats a whole diffferent story.
2nd, How did you integrate things?(all exept the drivers) NLITE or the Integrator?
If you used the integrator make sure you go to the advanced tab, and mark : Convert Unicode to ANSI
Otherwise it will mess up SVCPACK.INF
3th, No you cant simulate hardware in vmware.
And last , why would you remove all other things?

Maybe a bit more info about your XP and things you put in and with what, would clear things up.

Re: How do I integrate sound A?

Yes you're right, I'll give some more info about how I integrated things. I did everything by hand. Used no third party programs so far, exept for the driverpacks program of course

- I integrated Media Center in XP, using this guide: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?sho … amp;st=135
- I added some programs to RunOnceEX
- Made some regtweaks and cleanup.cmd (executed by RunOnceEx)
- Integrated hotfixes and SP2 (using SVCPACK.inf)
- I added some drivers for chipset/graphics/ (WINNT.sif method) (now trying to add sound as well)

I want to remove other things because I thought it would place all drivers in my windows installation, but now I doubt that. Does it scan for drivers and installs when it needs it? Or does it put all the drivers on the hard disk? If it just scans and only installs nessesary drivers, I agree it´s pointless in deleting the other drivers.

I hope I gave you enough info.

Re: How do I integrate sound A?

Well sorry i cant give you any info on XP to MCE, i think thats NOT very legal.
But thats msfn , that site blows anyway...

Ok but you have to remove all driver things you used before.
And only use the driverpacks.
And for the updates , go read this : http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4370 ( I know youre Dutch, so link is to the Dutch pack.)
Just take a clean/fresh XP , and download all the driverpacks, and hotfix packs.
Integrate the hotfixes in XP, (Maybe with some addons)with the integrator.( better dont use Nlite )
After that slipstream the driverpacks, with Bashrats base.
Thats all.

"Copy the driverpacks to this folder( Do not unpack them )"

h*ll!!! It was hard to find this piece of line to make driverpacks to work.. my first attempt was to unpack the driverpacks to the driverpacks folder then moved to the unpacked xp installation to $OEM$ then $OEM$/$1 h*ll i cant understood why the f*kin h*ll DP doesnt found driver packs, then found this little line and now everythings looks good!! weheheh big_smile

Maybe a few lines for the newbies would be nice to understand how DP works! i think on a help button for example or place a few instructions at the download sections, because i cant found it NOWHERE in the forums or on the entire site!

phew! btw nice work youre doing, thanks god (and ofcourse you all ppls) alot for DP!

I guess  total newbie wouldn't even get the idea to unpack anything (nor would he be capable of, as it requires 7zip).

In any case, yes, a proper documentation is (still) in the works, however, we prioritized working on the actual programme rather than some notes.
Not much use in these if there are still bugs in the software, eh?

winrar the most popular extractor does it for me by default smile btw a line at the downloads like "Dont try to unpack it, just place in the right folder" or the same would be really nice:) any users who tries patch the xp installer not a totally beginner so this one could be happens in any time...

yes, im agree, but is there any tools on the market that absolutely done? bugs are a part of a tool, and i have to say bugs will exists as long as the tool is exists and going to more and more advanced smile so i think if you have any beta-like-help please post it and sign it as build/version numbers... maybe you can integrate it in update checker to make it up to date! smile

Re: How do I integrate sound A?

Oh, we have some sort of beta how-to-do-it uo there somewhere.
Just have a look for the stickies, I know I have seen one wink
