I have created an unattended Microsoft Windows XP Pro SP2 (US) DVD with the following extra's:

* All recent RyanVM Updates including WMP11/DX9/.NET/WGA integrated by the latest nLite.
* All recent DriverPacks integrated by the latest DriverPack BASE (using method 2).

This DVD should be used as a universal installation-disc for multiple desktops and laptops. Therefore I created a little batch-script executed by an AUTOEXEC.BAT in the bootsector of the disc. This batch-script has a user-friendly menu where users can partition their harddrive with ease. The Windows Installation is executed by this menu with I386\WINNT.EXE which copies all the files from the DVD to the harddisk and then it restarts. The regulair Windows Setup will be executed after this and the files will be installed and configured.

Unfortunately, during the installation of the files Windows Setup cannot copy the setupORG.exe file. When the ESC key is pressed, the same error reoccurs but with the Presetup.cmd file (see the codes for the details).

I haven't seen any solution to this problem, can anyone help me with this?

That looks a lot as if the disc cannot be properly read.
Try to check the disc for bad sectors (http://www.cdspeed2000.com/) or simply reburn it if rewritable (RW).

Also make sure the drive's lense is not scratched nor covered with dust etc.

Testing the ISO image in a VM is a good idea to verify the image itself is not borken (bad RAM, bad HDD etc.).

I agree with useing a Virtual Machine first. Microsoft VM is free and VMWare has a free trial.

I have seen this error when useing the OemPreinstall=Yes in winnt.sif and an f6 driver is used.

It seems to me you are not really slipstreaming a disk install, this describes more of a RIS type installation.

The ISO is emulated by VMware and VirtualPC, both generate these errors. Even on a DVD+RW on a physical machine. The used DVD+RW disc is also brand new and has never been written.

I'm not quite sure what RIS stands for, but I don't use a RIS server or OPK tools. A custom bootloader is used on the ISO/DVD which is different than the standard Windows XP installation-disc if that's what you mean. It uses the I386\WINNT.EXE executable (see the code for the used switches)

* SETUP.INI in this case is WINNT.SIF renamed and placed in the root of the ISO/DVD.

you are using a fixed cdrom drive letter?

I am glad there is a discussio with real info going on by now.
My first thoughts were to ask for the batch file content, and that there could be a problem because you use winnt.exe (DOSINITIATED=YES), and all base slipstreamed sources I saw so far do not use that.

anyway, the fixed letter, that could be a problem as well.
you may be able to solve this by using cd-find looking for tagfile

This topic can be closed, I resolved the issue by NOT using the MS-DOS command. I used the official Windows XP bootloader now.
