Topic: [CLOSED]XP Sound driver needed on Toshiba P105 laptop..

What a bitch.   Comes shipped with Vista, which won't work for our application.  Toshiba only lists Vista drivers at their website for this thing, it's some sort of Conexant HD Audio + HD Audio Modem (?? but that's what it says next to the ?)   I've tried various different options, as well as unzipped the SoundA / SoundB to a CD to try and have it scan that to no luck.   Any ideas?

I know this is a Conexant, and believe it may be a variant of CX11254, but I've been unable to find a driver for that anywhere for XP..

The Vista driver reads:

;    INF file for installing the Conexant Function Driver for
;    Venice High Definition Audio Device

Easy to find Vista drivers.. nowhere for XP Drivers...

Re: [CLOSED]XP Sound driver needed on Toshiba P105 laptop..

The Driverpacks are for XP/W2K/2003, not for vista (Yet)

Re: [CLOSED]XP Sound driver needed on Toshiba P105 laptop..

I know.   That's the issue.  I have a laptop that I can only find the drivers for Vista for, but I need an XP Pro driver for that sound/modem combo.  Toshiba, HP, etc. don't seemingly have them posted anywhere.  If I could find a Conexant Venice driver for XP, that's what I need.

Re: [CLOSED]XP Sound driver needed on Toshiba P105 laptop..

I'm having the same issue - Did you find one?

P105-S6197

I extracted the vista driver and pointed the device to that location - It loaded but there is still no sound.
I think I got the modem driver to load that way too.

Re: [CLOSED]XP Sound driver needed on Toshiba P105 laptop..

Oh yeah - Toshiba SUCKS! I spoke with them this morning and they were no help. Ter1 told me that Ter3 will be working on getting XP drivers for the systems if enough people call in requesting them. I then spoke with his manager (Because I thought he was full of BS) who told me to return the system and buy one that has XP on it. I told her that you can no longer buy any system off the self with XP. So I hung up!

Re: [CLOSED]XP Sound driver needed on Toshiba P105 laptop..

Fixed it.  I went to HP and downloaded their XP drivers from the site linked above.

The Toshiba wouldn't take those drivers for the Conexant, so I forced it (chose from a list, "I will chose") it told me "this device may not be compatible"  Forced it anyway, audio is fine.

Turns out, Conexant puts some BS in each of their drivers that reference a ROM setting or some s(*& and so it's the exact same driver just looking for the HP version.  What a crock.

But it all works now.

Re: [CLOSED]XP Sound driver needed on Toshiba P105 laptop..

I have the exact same problem. You noted "from the site linked above" but I dont see the link.
Would you please post it.

I was not able to find it as well. Please add the direct link for the XP driver.

Re: [CLOSED]XP Sound driver needed on Toshiba P105 laptop..

Maybe this will help some...
HP dv9200 CTO, purschased with Vista, needed XP 32 bit
Conexant "Venice" 5045 HD Audio & Conexant HDAUDIO Soft Data Fax Modem with SmartCP.

Difference from DV9000 series that was relaesed with XP was those had Conexant "Wakiki" 5047

XP drivers for DV9200 series not posted yet.

HP online tech chat actually helped.

For XP 32 bit with 5045 audio/modem...

first install "Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture"
ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/softpaq/sp3250 … p32646.exe
(may also on the web in dv9000 series under XP, but might be not be the same)

this will load the HD bridge and identify the modem & audio as devices....

Audio Driver
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp34001-34500/sp34200.exe

modem driver:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp33501-34000/sp33890.exe

Everything works, presume they will post these eventually.

I thought I had tried the Microsoft Universal arch. from a DV9000, but I tried so many DV9000 XP drivers and 32 bit Vista drivers from the 9200 series that I lost track.

this may help the toshiba folks if they extract the files from the self executable and install from device manager.

Excerpt from - http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=101584

"A note on HD Audio here: HP uses Conexant HD Audio on their consumer notebooks, but they use MANY different versions. The two main types are "Venice" and "Waikiki". If you select your HD Audio device in device manager, go to properties, then details, and finally select Hardware IDs from the property drop down, you should see your HArdware ID string displayed. Look for the part that says DEV_####. If that #### is 5045, then you have a Venice codec, and hopefully one of the 4 drivers I've posted will work for you. If that #### is 5047, then you have a Waikiki codec, and HP hasn't posted any drivers for those yet."

to identify, you havd to do this before dumping the Vista partition.

Re: [CLOSED]XP Sound driver needed on Toshiba P105 laptop..

I am having the same problem.  I purchased a Toshiba  P105-S6177 with Vista (which I couldn't use with my specific applications I run.
I am running XP Home and cannot get the sound to work.

Intel(R) 82801G (ICH7 Family) SMBus Controller -27A
(this device doesn't have a driver and I can't find one)
The system tells me I don't have any audio device installed.

Please help

Very good ! , but would you please remove the first post , the one without the code tags.
Just put "removed" there.
Or put the code tags in that post and remove the hwids one from the last post.
You can use "edit"

Re: [CLOSED]XP Sound driver needed on Toshiba P105 laptop..

marcielaurin -

You have any luck finding the driver you need? Looks like we use the same Vista driver with no XP driver in site. Let me know if you find something.

Re: [CLOSED]XP Sound driver needed on Toshiba P105 laptop..

I have spent many many many hours trying to find this.  No luck yet.  I posted here because I saw you had the same issue.  There most be other people too.  Somebody somewhere most know something,  We just have to find them.

Re: [CLOSED]XP Sound driver needed on Toshiba P105 laptop..

I have also spent lots of time looking into this issue with no luck. I'm pretty much lost a this point. One thing you might try is to extract the vista driver then point the device in device manager to that location. I did this and the sound driver installs but you can not use the sound. Its worth a try for you!!!

If i find something I will post it here. Please do the same.

One thing I did try is to download every driver from suport.toshiba.com for the P105 series and still no luck! I'm about to try intall all of the HP drivers like the person did above.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Re: [CLOSED]XP Sound driver needed on Toshiba P105 laptop..

Hey muiz3 -

I was just showing the error I got when I loaded that driver to see if i coulc get some help finding the correct driver. I loaded the Vista modem driver on XP and it works like a charm.

Is there any infomation I can give you to help me find the XP driver for the Conexant "Venice" 5045 HD Audio?
I can give you any info from the Vista side or XP b/c i have a dual boot system. I woul just like to get my XP side to play sound.

Re: [CLOSED]XP Sound driver needed on Toshiba P105 laptop..

I loaded the Vista modem driver on XP and it works like a charm.

Can some one confirm this? if yes we can try to add it to the packs.

Re: [CLOSED]XP Sound driver needed on Toshiba P105 laptop..

I too have a Toshiba P105-S6147 (have 6 of them)

Had to load XP Pro as the client apps I needed to run would not under Vista

All drivers work except Conexant Hi Def Audio and Modem

I tried the HP drivers that were Listed Above,

Even got the Volume Icon on the tool bar , but no Sound

Contacted Toshiba and they were no help, Said to look for Third Party drivers as they dont support XP in this model

We have been using toshibas for years now , but I think that this is the end for them with us.

is there a solution out there for the 82801GDM ICH7-M hi def chip set for XP

when i do an Intel chip ID and it gives the link for support, the link fails

Help !!!

I have three Toshibas P105-S6197 laptops to downgrade to Windows XP Pro. At the present time I do have all the drivers xcept for the "Sound and Modem". Toshiba support reminds me of flused toilet paper...they are as helpful as winning the lottery..

I downloaded the driver from HP like you stated and it did not work at all. In your post your mentioning "Site Linked Above", my question is were is above.

If anyone can help it would realy be cool to get these two drivers, or how to install then correctly....thank you
