Why would it get this far ?

Re: [SOLVED] Error while slipstreaming DP Chipset using M1

hi Muiz3

I'll read some more logs, they have an other sequence than those i was used to, it seems

above does begin with an INI file, but the source on location  in ini was deleted or renamed, so it does not find it.
then one sees this.
it also starts with default M2, and this is changed later on..

2007-01-15 18:19:03 : <GUI>  Changed Windows installation files OR export (depending on the installation platform) location to G:\UPDATEDXP noOEM.

Selected module: mod_slip_wxp_x86-32_disc_m1.

The answer was 42?
Kind regards, Jaak.

@muiz:

2007-01-15 18:19:03 : <GUI>  Windows XP Professional -  Retail SP2 detected.

He changed the location in the GUI.

@woodzter: can you confirm that the directory $OEM$\$1\D\C\I\xp does indeed NOT exist? Also, please use code tags next time wink

Re: [SOLVED] Error while slipstreaming DP Chipset using M1

Thanks for help so far but s you can tell i am a bit of a novice when it comes to this. I have tried several times with out no success to do this. I do not intentionally change the location and do not know why it does it. IS there a web page which gives you a tutorial/run through of what i should do when choosing the options before i use the slipstream button.

I cannot see what i am doing wrong.

Thanks for your patience.

You didn't do anything wrong, at least that's what the log tells me.

You can find that directory I asked you to check in the directory you selected as your Windows XP installation files location: G:\UPDATEDXP noOEM. That would make the full path to check:

G:\UPDATEDXP noOEM\$OEM$\$1\D\C\I\xp

. Could you please verify that this directory does exist?

Re: [SOLVED] Error while slipstreaming DP Chipset using M1

I seemed to have got to work now, don't know how as i cant seem to see what i have done different. But i do get the error below. I think i know why, but will it work if use method 2? I have never used method 2 and don't really understand how it works. (only really know the $OEM$ way. I suppose i could cut some drivers but i would nt know where to start to cut out.

Created OemPnpDriversPath entry. The length is 6643, which EXCEEDS the 4096 characters limit. You can continue the installation, but the paths listed after the 4096 characters limit will NOT be processed. You may want to remove some Driver Packs or switch to method 2.

Re: [SOLVED] Error while slipstreaming DP Chipset using M1

I had problems in the early days and then I did the following, (maybe the admin staff will recommend this):

Extract all files to --  C:\BASH --   This solved any problems I had with paths.

Re: [SOLVED] Error while slipstreaming DP Chipset using M1

@BigBrit: I don't understand what you mean.

@woodzter: just use method 2 instead, it's much faster anyways. To find out how both methods work, check this topic: http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?pid=2084.

EDIT: closed now.
