Of course, it's almost ten YO, but since it's GigaByte it's still running everyday 24/7.
It will not prove or disprove a driver though. I updated the firmware my first week here (thanks Jaak and Ruud).
Since it is on the MB this required me to Hack a BIOS update Binary file manually to include the firmware update and flash my BIOS. Since GB motherboards have a second backup BIOS ROM, I was not to scared to try it

This made my device compatible with all newer versions of the driver.

I would like to point out this was a huge PITA, and I had to take the considerable risk of bricking my board.
it's bad enough to update with a factory binary, I made my own... YIKES!

That is understandable.  It makes no sense to risk vital equipment.  I have a couple of boards with Si3x12's, and an expansion card or two. (CMD640, Si0680)  However; that is the limit of my current Silicon Image Mass Storage repertoire at the moment.

It would be nice if somebody reading this whom has a Silicon Image SATA adapter would itegrate the current DP_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32_1411031.7z (updated by Symbios24) to their XP disc using DPs_BASE and do a test installation with a spare hard drive, so as not to risk existing data.

Any help that leads to corrections or solutions gets credited in changelogs
(and to be publicly thanked in this forum by myself at least).

i can test a new driver big_smile. Just be aware that we cant have both new and old. if a report is made make sure that the firmware is up to date before attacking the pack, the driver may not be the real issue tongue

Re: [Nightlies] DP_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32_1304-1412 - Public

Hi,

I like to use a BartPE-CD on a PC with mainboard ASUS P9X79 (chipset C600). BartPE is build from Windows-XP SP3 32 Bit. I use the DP_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32_1405176. But booting result in a BSOD STOP 0x0000007B. The hardware-ID's are:

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1D02&SUBSYS_84EF1043&REV_06
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1D02&SUBSYS_84EF1043
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1D02&CC_010601
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1D02&CC_0106

Has anyone a idea?

Re: [Nightlies] DP_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32_1304-1412 - Public

I might have some ideas and questions ...

Do you experience the bluescreen before or after initial partitioning?

Are you using an Advanced Format Drive?  If so, try installing on a previous generation SATA drive.

Have you installed a TPM module?

You should not need the ASUS support DVD for XP installation.

Disconnect the internet for XP setup duration.  Turn off Secure Boot (if available).  Set USB 3.0 to compatibility mode, or disable them (Legacy USB3.0 Support [Enabled] ???).  Don't use them for USB 3.0 install (there is no NT5/Vista Intel USB 3.0 driver).  Use USB 2.0 instead, if so.  Turn off Fast Boot.  Turn off HotPlug.  Disable unused SATA ports.  Ensure your CD/DVD/BR and HDD use the same color connectors.  Those settings here in this paragraph are probably the source of the bluescreen, by the way.

What are the HWID's for the other SATA ports???
I see PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1C02&CC_0106 listed in the Manual.
Use the HWID's tool linked in my signature (lspci -nn from linuxMint Terminal as an alternative)

Disable TPU & EPU.  Disable Turbo Mode &/or TurboV.

It might be helpful to note that DPs_BASE must be the last step in building your image.  If not, try integrating MassStorage, Chipset, LAN [Nightlies] on virgin media and give that a shot.

If you have created USB media for installation, please indicate the utility used, and make a disc instead for testing (Imgburn?).  Disc installation is the primary method of installation supported here, yet am willing to discuss alternatives.

If those ideas fail, try the blue SATA connectors, instead of the grey ones.  The ASMedia controller should not interfere with installation, but if you have reached this point without success then disable them.

When you do find a winning combination, shutdown XP after install, then reverse some of the settings above, then startup Windows - rinse & repeat, until you find an optimal combination.  Then reinstall XP from scratch to confirm.

Do let me know here what specifically works, so that changes can be made.
I will credit your username in the changelogs.
Thank you for your participation!   smile

Re: [Nightlies] DP_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32_1304-1412 - Public

Oh, BartPE.  It helps when i read with understanding ...   (Bluescreen @boot)

Please post your DPs_BASE log within code tags, and HWIDs with all SATA ports enabled as AHCI/Hotplug.
Any additional information concerning how the image was created would be appreciated.
Is this booted via USB or disc?
Which module caused the fault?  Is that listed as iaStor.sys, perhaps?

By the way, welcome to the Forum!  smile

The BartPE-CD don't need a Harddisk for booting. I boot BartPE from a internal CD-ROM drive which is connected to a internal SATA port.

I can not post the output from SaveHwids.exe before january 2015 because the owner of the PC is absent for the rest of this year. I only made the BartPE-CD.

Thank you for the reply.

Noted.

First, you need to decide what packs to use.

Note that DriverPack CPU 1005 is obsolete, and DriverPack LAN-RIS 1011 is only for network installs.  Attempting to integrate two MassStorage packs is probably not a good idea.

I would recommend using only DP_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32_1411031.7z &  DP_LAN_wnt5_x86-32_1411251.7z.

Start from scratch with a fresh source, and integrate a new PE disc.
When you are able, try the disc with the ROM drive plugged into any of the blue ports, then any of the grey ports.  Please not the HWID, and let us know what worked, and what didn't.
If you have a second SATA Rom drive, try two simultaneously plugged into blue and grey, if you like.

Re: [Nightlies] DP_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32_1304-1412 - Public

Even if there are multiple packs in the driverpacks folder it will only use the newest one of each type big_smile.

7b is definitely a mass storage error. I see you used xp sp3 as your source which I do all the time, however it is worth noting that BartPE only supports XP SP2 as it's source...

Try a different mass storage pack version and rebuild. (newer or older, remembering BASE only will use the newest one in its packs folder... one at a time makes it easier to keep track big_smile)

mass lan and wlan are good basic packs for plugins, sometimes i have better luck with 2k3 source than XP.

Re: [Nightlies] DP_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32_1304-1412 - Public

SP2 is a good recommendation.  That should be noted somewhere in the MassStorage changelog ...

Am thinking it could be a driver conflict.
Intel RST v10.5.2 might not have liked CD only on the (6Gps - blue???) connectors, for one.  The other connectors probably use v11.2. It seems possible that if any other AHCI port was active there would be a conflict over the file "iaStor.sys", and bloop.

Wlan is a bit of a mess, when it comes to PE support.  I need a couple of days just with that pack alone, and some direction on USB-RNDIS drivers within (the upcoming DP_WLAN_USB) to get things ironed out.

If knoks, or anybody else could test integrate and post the DPs_BASE log, it would help ensure that at least LAN is good to go.  Have worked hard lately on that LAN pack.  (AVM_Broadband to be integrated into DP_LAN_USB)

How could the MassStorage integration be confirmed?  Would that be via the resulting MassStorage.inf?

Seems funny that we have talked this much about PE, yet until now nobody has mentioned HwPnP.

Re: [Nightlies] DP_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32_1304-1412 - Public

because mass storage for PE is text mode... PnP doesn't have sh*t to do with it big_smile.

the log confirms that the plugin is created. (BASE only makes plugins).
2014-12-05 15:42:46 : <SLIP> Copied DriverPack MassStorage text mode driver files to BartPE Plugin folder.
2014-12-05 15:42:46 : <SLIP> Slipstreamed DriverPack MassStorage text mode driver files.

integration is performed by PEBuilder. - We assume that no errors were reported by PEBuilder or he would not have gotten to the create ISO stage in PEBuilder. that log would describe errors with integration.

It is also important that the source is not modified. Clean / unmodified Microsoft XP or 2K3 source .

WLAN was always an issue with BartPE, the pack is not the problem in most cases. that does have to do with HWPnP

PEBuilder.exe has no errors. I will discuss the SP3 problem within the 911 CD forum. Until now I had no problems with it.

I had thought the that DP_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32_1405176 is the newest one. The latest official one DP_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32_1209 does not support the ASUS P9X79 chipset.

While BartPE is booting only the driver within BartPE take effect. In my case these are the driver from DP_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32_1405176.
Unfortunately I have no personal access to the computer as it is in London and I am in Frankfurt. So I can not change the SATA connectors. I don't know whether the owner is able to do this because he is not a technican. Howsoever he is absent until january 2015. Then i can post the SaveHwids.exe output.

"The latest official one DP_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32_1209 does not support the ASUS P9X79 chipset."

The official release included RSTe v3.1 for that HWID, so including it in testing is certainly a valid methodology, as OverFlow correctly states.

Please try a fresh integration with those two [Nightlies], for an independant assesment of our progress, if you agree.  The delay until one can get their hands on real hardware gives us a unique opportunity to fine tune the packs before that usage.

Am thinking that since the driver included in MS_v1411031 (RST v10.5.2) is only utilized for very few HWID's, that it might benefit from having it's driver signing broken, and the executable renamed, so that it is at least possible to coincide with RST v11.2 for those other HWIDs ...

Re: [Nightlies] DP_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32_1304-1412 - Public

... correction:  [I4] ; RSTe 3.2.0.1126 for 8086:1D02:0106 is what exists in the official release, yet is disabled for 2k & XP because that is a StorPort-dependant driver which is not included in OS's less than 2k3.

That more closely aligns with recommendations from Asus (the VAR?), but with a caveat.  a 2k3 license seems minimum to support.  Not XP, unfortunately.     hmm

I pulled the HWID from the PCI ID Project pci.ids (2014.12.10)  http://pci-ids.ucw.cz/

Also, a new driver (..\I\dps_IDER_pciide.inf) has been improvised to ensure Intel IDE-R connected drives have Write Caching disabled.  Complimentary drivers have been made to utilize IntelIDE for the regular SATA Controllers, where support doesn't exist from Intel.

For PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_880B&CC_0106, it would appear the Lapis Semiconductor driver that was handling that HWID cannot seem to function on XP, as it was released.  iaStor.sys is now used instead for XP.

Re: [Nightlies] DP_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32_1304-1412 - Public

After testing some stuff i run into typo i think.
On the CD i have 2 files ("ahciT3.sy_" & "ahciT3r.sy_")  that have the same file name (ahciT3.sys) after extracting.
Not sure if that is a bug or if that was done intentionally. smile

ms_4_deviceName="AMD AHCI Compatible SB6xx"

Of course, the beginning of that section would need to be modified to ms_count=8, and all paragraphs following the modification (ms_6 through ms_9) renumbered.

Re: [Nightlies] DP_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32_1304-1412 - Public

It would appear that those proposed modifications are in err.
The related .Inf installs SCSI\ProcessorATI_____ with a null driver.
Perhaps the "ahciT3r" section need be simply removed.
      Is there a better solution?

Re: [Nightlies] DP_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32_1304-1412 - Public

That [AM7] section is very much like that from the official release, and what i based the [AM] part on.
Are you experiencing issues installing on a RAID system?

At least the w2k3 driver (amd_sata.sys/amd_xata.sys) has been restricted in [AM].  It was modded for XP, but XP doesn't have Storport.sys so that was a no-go.

We have had some years to find fault with the official release, and it has been difficult to do.
It took years for anyone to recognize that as anomolous, for instance.
The previous DriverPacks Team is to be thanked here & now.  Thank you!

The DAAMiT (AMD/ATi) drivers are a real mixed bag of mixed HWID types that do not cooperate well.
Add to that the fact that they made a regular habit of reusing HWIDs for differing product & you too might be heard to exclaim something similar.  yikes
Right click on the executables, and discover who appears to have really wrote them in the Version tab.

Re: [Nightlies] DP_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32_1304-1412 - Public

I don't have an AMD system to test it on but it only looks strange that we have 2 out of 4 files with the same name.
"ahciT3.sy_" & "ahciT3r.sy_" = ahciT3.sys
"ahcix7xx.sy_" & "ahcix70r.sy_" = ahcix86.sys

Re: [Nightlies] DP_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32_1304-1412 - Public

I also noticed that the file "symc810.sy_", "symc8xx.sy_" and "sym_hi.sy_" contain the same file (CPQ32FS2.sys).

the replacement driver with NO HWID needs removed becuase it is included with another driver... by adding a driver with no HWID BASE will instead of replacing a native driver, will remove it. This was neccessary because ONE of our DriverPacks drivers replaces THREE windows included (native) drivers. Again... That section replaces three native drivers with one replacement. IE The three windows included drivers symc8xx, symc810, sym_hi were all replaced by CPQ32FS2 and the first section contains all the HWIDS for all three drivers (because they are all supported by the one driver now)

Don't try to figure it out ... let us do that tongue.  I'm not surprised it stumped you... I had a really fun time coming up with a workaround / fix for that.

Thanks for paying attention!

Jeff

the short story is that the CPQ file replaces three native drivers (included with windows).
In order to replace three drivers with one I had to invent a workaround.

two of those files should not appear in a final build... someone broke my fix, I think
if i remember correctly only symc8xx.sy_ should make it into your final.

Did you break mass storage techdud?

Re: [Nightlies] DP_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32_1304-1412 - Public

Will check versus last Release to be certain.
"7 sisters" comes to mind as possible time-frame for change (for Win2k though).

Changes have been made to AMD/ATi MassStorage sections here.
Will re-test, yet so-far VEN_1022&DEV_4391 works flawlessly on an HP g62.
Perhaps Symbios24 meant to say VEN_1022&DEV_7801, in which case i have broken signing on the rcraid driver to avoid it's installation at or about T35.

Also, thanks to Outbreaker, references for those RAID management devices will be removed, as they are meant to use a null-driver.

Will also add support for BlackWingCat's modified driver for his modified Win2k kernel.  As the system files have been modified, i can include support for the files, but not the files themselves.  (Some Assembly Required - though no "machine language"  :lol)

Towards that end, the SB6xx & SB7xx drivers are further limited to XP minimum via the .Inf files to enforce OS support.
